- Summary: The Ice Trolls descend and their Creepy Master taunts the party, and battle ensues. Pelka flies up to oversee and is nearly pulled out of the sky by a troll. Nels blasts a troll with his Thunderbelcher, the gunfire echoing through the mountains. Cryosanthia leaps behind the Creepy Guy and cuts of his escape, with her scale-sister Braelnoir, charging in with her scythe, and MAC-B1G powers up for percussive adjustment. As the battle continues, Pelka gets off a scorching Ray, Nels obliterates a troll, swiftly followed by Braelnoir cutting one in half. Cryo is more tactical, interferring with the Creepy Guy's casting and managing to distract him enough his spells fail, and MAC-B1G lands several more blows. The battle continues, but the force against the party is significantly reduced.

When last we left our heroes they were confronted by a man who seemed entertained to find you here. He called upon his friends to 'deal with you'. There, a glance up revealed the hideous, long-limbed form of the trolls above you.

Pelka spreads his wings. But before he takes off he produces a small contraption, flat and round and with a clock face on the front. He turns the clock hands a few degrees with a taloned finger and the contraption whirs and clicks before dissolving into glowing energy that expands and touches every member of the party. Now Pelka flaps his wings, launching himself into the sky and then over the heads of the incoming Trolls. "You'll regret messing with birds!"

One of then trolls pushes off from the mountainside, leaping towards the group gathered below. He falls a little short of his goal, landing in a short tumbles roll that he skitters to his feet from.

A second troll tears a loose chunk of stone from the mountain side and hurls it at Pelka. The blow does not land.

Nels is having mixed emotions. On the one hand, trolls! That's bad news with a capital bad. On the other hand, this is his first chance to try out the new rifle. He made it himself, or mostly himself, though it was enchanted professionally. The powder is no longer in paper cartridges like he used to use, he reaches into a pouch and extracts a handful of brass cylinders with odd, eldritch runes, glowing along the side as he touches them, and he pushes them into the middle of his thunderbelcher, though a narrow opening. Shouldering the weapon, he fires, then fires again, and again, and again, with the benefit of magical haste, and four wounds open up on the troll. He's probably made it mad, but as the gunsmoke clears, Nels is smiling.

Cryosanthia has been following along, and then suddenly there is an opponent! This would be a great time to say something witty, except she can't think of anything. Nels gunshot is like a starting gun for her, and she leaps forward. Kicking off rocks and walls, tumbling and finally leaping, she twists in the air over the creepy guy, becoming creepy in her own way.
Her hands turn into claws, and her jaw drops as it fills with large, wicked teeth. She lunges for his shoulder, a favourite of hers, and her teeth sink in. They penetrate, but her bit is off, and she ends up tearing furrows instead. His blood splashes across her white scales and armour.

A second troll divdes from the rocky outcropping on the mountainside, landing in a heavy plume of dust and tumbling towards Braelnoir. He's just outside his own reach, and the bruises from his dive have already healed.

With the show well on the road, Brae shouts, "Brains down fast!" followed by her traditional invitation for, "KORRRRRRRRRR!" to watch the festivities. She lets the crossbow fall as the Troll rolls in toward her, though her eyes are already on backing up her sister's play and so she runs toward the sith's target, pulling the scythe free from her back straps and bringing into proper index as she brings it around with a howl of battle lust across his body.

Swiftly, the weird man in the heavy leathers and rags steps back, weaving his hands through the air. "Blessings on me, oh God! Let my enemies taste fear!"
Nothing seems to happen. It's not very impressive.

The fourth troll jumps down from the mountain, just leaving one above with rocks in his hands to aim at Pelka.
Still, they trolls are definitely ready to get to crowding you now.

MAC-B1G traverses its faceplate towards the clawed creatures, chassis rotating beneath it before it takes several heacy strides towards. En route, additional armored plating slides into place from concealed compartments. One neavy manipulative appendage is raised and slams down upon... the rock at their respective propulsive appendage ends. It then re-verifies range to target. One ping only. Result: .635 meters.

"Displacement!" Pelka squawks loudly. "That was a Displacement spell!" He hesitates. Should he suggest how to deal with Displacement? Wait, does he even -know- how? Aim three to six inches to the left? ...or...or was it to the right?...and their right, or his? And then Braelnoir and Cryosanthia are on either side of him...
All of these thoughts flash through Pelka's haste-ened brain in an instant, and he decides NOT to elaborate. There are trolls afoot!
Pelka tugs another contraption into place over his hand, this one resembling a bracelet with two large cylinders on top. The artificer points his arm at the troll Nels riddled with bullets earlier. Fiery rays scorch into the troll. The blackened remains of the contraption fall to ash and fall, revealing a reddened hand that Pelka shakes as if stung. His other hand pulls out an identical contraption, and he holds it up while looking at the troll with the rocks. "Huh? Huh? There's more where that came from."

"GRAGH," yells one of the trolls. He hurls himself at the flying form of Pelka, almost reaching him. It is only the trolls gangly, long limbs that let him snatch onto him, briofly sending them spiralling in mid air beefore the trolls lets go and falls to the earth, having lost his grip. He lands in a thunderous crash, bones already mending from where they fracture. Pelka does manage to land against the mountainside above.

Nels backs away from the troll and shoves more shells into his thunderbelcher. He locks and loads, pumping three shots into the troll's face. Ewwwww, that's bad. That's really bad. The last shot, however, does not fire, and the round seems to have misfed into the breech. He grumbles, looking around to see if it's safe to work on his gun mid-fight.
The white sith drops lower, her tail lashing, claws curled and ready and the blood dripping from her muzzle. Her tail flicks from side to side, and she picks out the territory she can command and defend. She's coiled, ready to attack if the creepy guy moves, or someone comes up beside her sister. She echoes what she's heard from Pelka, "He's displaced Brae, swing wide."

As the troll swings it's long arms at her, Cryo swipes sideways. It wasn't going to hit, and she leaves some scratches on its wrist for its troubles.

With the troll moving in on them, Brae sidles in to get better angle on the two opponents so they don't overwhelm her sister, she goes into a quick, flurry of overbearing and compensating, for the caster evades her strike, but on her reindex, the roll of her shoulder and slide of her trailing fut puts her into almost the perfect cutting posture. With another gleeful cry, she drives the scythe between temple and eye socket, ensorcelled blade hewing through bone and meat like cheese, bisecting the troll as it emerges from the inside of the creature's opposing thigh.

One of the two remaining trolls lunges towards Braelnoir, though his claws rake the air instead. It's not helpful.

MAC-B1G lifts both primary manipulative appendages this time. Each lifts to extend directly out, near-perpendicular to its chassis and roughtly parallel to the horizon. Its torso then abruptly rotates 720 degrees to rotationally pummel at the creature.
