- Summary: Khogh-Dorahl has an emergency! An epic, world ending emergency! She is desperate to enlist others to help, and latches on to Kisaiya, a woman with too little time on her hands, and some hapless volunteers, Kaelyn and Cryosanthia. In simple terms, the Gods will die, the sun will go dark, and the skies collapse to the ruination of nations, if she does not get a red velvet cake made. The momumental difficulty of this task is shown in the painstaking efforts necessary to explain the cake, and what kind of party it is for. A stranger to Alexandria, Elycia, arrives in time for all the gory... no glorious details. Cryosanthia's conviction that the sith are the best is reinforced when she understands, and she and Kaelyn become plan B, while Kisa's assistant, Tami, attempts to remind the woman she's agreed to bake a cake. Elycia, simply wants food and not a fight.

Just west of the Northern Highbridge and east of the arena, commerce blooms. Noisy and bustling, most anything may be purchased here for a price. Vendors from all cultures sell their wares from exotically colored carts, and the smells of different nations and far-off city-states mix with local ones from Alexandria and its riverbanks.
For all its commerce, visitors are advised to keep hold of their purses. Even the merchants possess a certain, cunning look. Most are positioned at carts or stalls as opposed to a formal storefront, with trade here being mobile, and visiting from all parts of the world.
Though the quality of goods suffers here compared to Upper Alexandria, the options are more diverse. Too, the oversight of the Watch is slightly less, and during times events are held at the Arena, chaos abounds. After dark, the square becomes a hangout for bards and other entrepreneurs whose business is best conducted by night; the shadows at the edges of the square often contain furtive figures engaging in their own brand of business.

"...Blessed Althea!!!" The door to the Fernwood slams shut with all the force a khazadi can muster. Khogh stomps down the step or two onto the street, looking like a small, furious rockwind that'd grown legs. And an scowl. And an angry V!! "Why? Why, Reos?" she demands then. She looks up towards the sky, as though if the Khazadi deity were to step foot onto Alexandria's streets this very minute, she'd punch him right in the throat.
Outside, it's...cold. As soon as the pub's door slams shut, its merry light winks out, leaving the street dimly lit--with its mana lights, and the cold stars overhead.
Kae is here! Kind of, she's trotting out of her room, going down the stairs and pausing at the base of the stairs to well sit down, blinking as she hears Khogh shouting outside?
Kae's ears perk and she tilts her head to the right, licking her lips some, before she makes her way over to the bar... "OOoh the stew I liiiikes!" She orders, her tail lashing/wagging behind her as she tilts her head...
Kae then ummms.....and pushes open the door, leaving the pub with her stew, "I'll be over near that!! That way I'm out of the ways!" she says, her wings shifting, partly unfurling before folding tightly again... Kae then trots around the front of the Fernwood and sits on her haunches near the nearest window...
Kisaiya was already out the door, and she was talking through the wrap of cloth over her face and the ushanka pulled down low over her ears with its fur edging flailing one way and then the other with the whip of wind. "Vvv vurhurfver ver-ver herverver nerverr." She nods her head in the direction toward another woman who looks even more bundled up than Kisa.
The second one pulls her face covering down a little. "No. No We're not going to do this. This is /RIDICULOUS/. You are literally wearing clothing that's /not/ clothing and always keeps you comfortable AND YET YOU LOOK LIKE SOME SORT OF CHILD BEING BUNDLED UP FOR WINTER!" Tami squints, squints at her employer with a fold of her arms along with the clipboard that she was holding onto.
Kisa stares.
Stares some more.
Then a huffy sigh, and with a wave of a hand, the outfit changes to one of her more usual dresses. The scarf was still wrapped loosely about her face and the ushanka low. "Fine. Better?" A quick pull of the scarf down to stick her tongue out at Tami before pulling it back up.
Tami stares with that thin-lipped expression which would give Serraphine a run for her money.
"...damn right, you ain't comin' down," the khazad says. Khogh eyes the sky as she does and then reaches up, behind her. Grabs hold of her braid. And begins retwisting it around in a bun behind her head. This will take a while.
It's not as though khazadi don't have oh, manes, or anything.
She eyes the draconic mish-mash as it tumbles out the door after her. Steps outside. Looks IRRITATED about this. "Do you," she says to Kaelyn, having no mind that Kaelyn looks like a monster of mismmash'd pieces. She's pissed off. She's THAT pissed off. "--know ANYONE who can make a red. Fecking. Velvet. Cake?" She nearly bites the words off, and as she does, yanks the braid into place.
YANK. "And before you ask, I know I work at a restaurant. I know! It doesn't mean that I know how to bake!!" she snaps, and then turns to look at Kisaiya as the merchant and Tami arrive. "Oh thank Reos for small favors. PLEASE tell me you sell cakes!"
A white-scaled sith-makar is nearby, taking a few moments of peace before going inside to start her shift. Cryo is relying on her darksight and low-light, so the faint mana-lights are sufficient for her.
She looks over as the mountain dwarf rumbles out of the Fernwood Pub like a mine collapse, followed by the bundled up human, whose clothes suddenly change. And an argument, a big argument.
Fortunately she looks like snow, and for the moment tries to resemble a snow drift against a wall.
There's a blink, and then Kisa gestures a little at Tami, SQUINT, then a reach out. "Boop." She pokes Tami in the nose before, with a rather suddenness, she is accosted. ACCOSTED! And demanded of cakes in the red velvet variety. And this is why Kisa hears things.
Or perhaps, this is what Kisa does hear of things.
"RED VELVET?! Yes! I have a lot of it." She nods her head and grins, nudging Tami a bit in the side, "See? Told you!" A sage nod.
Tami has already taken up the mantra of certain masochistic pilgrims.
She is thumping her head with the clipboard to a beat of her own making.
Kae blinks... She's got someone riiiight in her face, in her nose even... WHiskers twitch. and Kae bliks a few more times...
She then ummms... and her head tilts first left, then rights then back to left....
Kae peeeers at Kisa now, squiiiiiiint and finally she waggles arms and wings in the air, balancing on her haunches "Kisa has veeeelveeeet, not velvet cake!! And umm, it's easy to make cake!! I know how to bake a cake!" She says happily... Of course getting a cake from a large dragon mishmash critter might be difficult!!!
The khazadi presses thumb and forefinger against her eyes a moment. "Praise Reos," she mumbles, before she then drops her hand and looks up. Stares at the merchant, Kisa, with a, 'If you-try-to-run-away-before-I-get-this-order-in-I-am-hunting-you-down-to-the-seventh-generation sort of look. "Yes. I need a cake. I desperately. Desperately need a bloody red, Velvet cake that's three tiers tall and--whatever else I'm needin' to make it fancy. I just got word it's my second cousin's, once removed' niece's 22nd birthday! Do you know what that MEANS?"
The khazad gestures wildly--sort of like a stump moving, but hey! Short, stubby arms. A short, stubby people, the khazadi. Stubby-gesture-wave...ness!
And clearly. This is a crisis. Her eyes are bright, breathing a bit fast and thick. She turns to look at Kaelyn. "You look fecking weird, but I ain't got time for that. Is it /possible/ to put strawberry icing on a red velvet cake?"
Is it velvet cloth, that is baked into a cake, do dwarves eat that? Cryo wonders to herself, or is it like the Green Hornet, a food item named for some characteristic it shares with a thing. She'll have to ask chef. Oh! Neat info, the white-sith leaps into the fray appearing beside the trio, and Kaelyn, "No, this one doesn't know! What does it mean?"
Kisa waggles her arms back at Kaelyn, "I can make it any shape they want!" A thin-lipped expression, and then she's staring at Kaelyn. "What in the nine hells happened to you and why do you look so funny?" A squint, which means that she wasn't entirely focusing on the Khazadi as the order was given.
"Okay, Bloody Red Velvet shaped like a bundt. Okay!" She look to Khogh, then back to Kael--
Another fling of her arms up as she looks at the Sith, "PEERS IN YOUR VEST!" She mangles the usual greeting to other Sith.
Tami has taken to thumping her head with the clipboard still.
"Uh... what?" Cryo immediately checks the front of her armour and down inside it, "It is clear. OH! Peace on your Nest.
That thumping is catchy. Cryo starts slapping her tailtip from side to side, very lightly and quiet... for now.
A sometwhat tall blonde woman walks her way into the market district. She is definitely new to the city....as she's looking at EVERYTHING. She's almost awe-struck at the rather huge marketplace. Some do move out of her way though, since she's rather big, even for a human. Of course, there's the commotion caused by a dwarf, a sith-makar, a human and a whatchamacallit.....but Elycia's more focused on the Sith-makar....
Kae blinks a few times again... "I think she said layered." Kae says and peeeers at Kisa... "I tooold you... you scramble the stuff making me wierd andi tchanges your species" She says and shrugs... "And I'm wierd looking cause wierd artifice." She says .. She sees Cryo do the tail thump thing... She looks back at her own, and the long tail, which really is nearly as long as her whole body is lifts and slams back down WHAM!!! It's soo not just a thump..
Kae then glances back at Kisa, and blinks "Since when did you make sweets anyhoos?"S he asks, before then looking ot the person wanting the cake... "Sooo you want me or Kisa there to bakes you a cake? 3 layers right?" She asks curiously... She's now confuuuused! Kae then ooohs and looks at Kisa "Yeah, so now I'm like this feathery furry dragon thingie? There's still some like humanoid in me and stoof because I can move my arms with more range of motion than a fully feral dragon can." She says cheerfully.
"Bundt--I have no idea what that means. Just make it three layers, covered in stawberries, an' FANCY. It's time fer my cousin's feckin Period Party, Reos be feckin praised or whatever! And they asked me onto th' organizin' committee! Me! Oh, sure, she works at a restaurant. Sure, she knows how t'cook!" the khazadi woman snarls, though it sounds mostly frustrated. She then looks to Kaelyn, and blinks. Once. "I just need a damn cake! And--artifice--gah!" She waves, a punch at the air because one problem at a time is just ENOUGH right now.
And Period Parties are apparently well. The end of the world importance variety. Even if a floofy mismatched monster is talking with you.
Khogh turns to Kisaiya, then. "If you've got themed streamers and th' usual party favors, I need them, too." The usual? The sith-makar gets an eyeing. A suspicious one. "Th' hell did you come from?" Elycia gets glanced at, but she didn't appear-suddenly-from-a-snowdrift, so!
Stare... "Sneeze on your crest?" A cant of her head to the side as Kisa looks at Cryosanthia. Then another tilt of her head, surely she would be -- oo shiny. A turn of her head to Kaelyn and she flashes a smile, "You told me?! WHEN!? Because I don't remember you looking this funny." chin-scratch, head-tilt.
"I make sweets? I mean, I think they're pretty sweet, yah." She wraps the scarf about her head again, "Like this one! It's pretty sweet and it smells nice because I like to sprits it with oils." Lo-o-o-ong inhale, exhale and a sigh.
Tami is still doing the thump-thump of head to clipboard, "Baking. Kisa, Baking."
"What?" She looks at Tami, "I guess if you want to."
"KISA. BAKING." Each word punctuated with a thunk.
"Okay! OKAY! You can go bake."
"NO. Kisa-" she sweeps the clipboard down and to the side, before gesturing it at Khogh, "-they're asking /you/ to bake a cake."
"Well that's just -silly-. Why would you bake red velvet that would destroy the material."
"No, no Kae, slam every ten of my beats." The white-scale sith instructs, timing her percussion to integrate with Tami's clipboard headslaps. Impromptu street theater is the best!
"From Am'shere?" She answers Khogh.
Ah! Lyrics, "Kisa, Baking!"
Wait- what?
Kisa's head whips back to Khogh, any chance that she would've understood what Tami was trying to tell her lost in that moment. A blink, another tilt of her head, a pull of her mouth off to the side with the furrow of her brow, "Period party?" She reaches up and scratches at her chin again, but this was abruptly stopped as the arms fling up in the air.
"SWEET DAUES! That's like ten years too late! No one ever told her?!" Kisa clearly has not realize that perhspas Khazadi are different.
"What has she been doing for all these years?!" Another flail of her arms, a pause, a tilt of her head, "WAIT! No. Nono. Please tell me you at least told her about Witchhazel?"
Squint!
Tami was just about to continue when she just watches Kisa divert and sighs. A throw of her head back along with it. "You... Kisa. Kisa. She wants you to /bake a cake for it. Ea to Kisa!" She waves the clipboard in front of Kisa's face.
Kisa sticks her tongue out at Tami with a turn of her head, "Hey! We're trying to discuss the important stuff! You can handle the cloth I'm sure."
Kae peeers curiously and looks at Kisa.... Then to Tami and blinks "Umm I'll make the cake for her!" She says and waggles arms and wings in the air happily... She then squints at Kisa... "We were in Sandy's shop the other day! Iwas in this shape when you went in there. You were all squinty cause you thought I could cure your kitty-butt problem!" She says and reaches out to boop Kisa...
"Anyhow, I think this is kind of an improvment on before... First, I don't eat as much, second, it's easier to move around, and third? I'm kinda fluffy, even if I can't wear clothes!" he says, where the fluffy came from is anyone's guess... But it's truuuue!
Kae then stares at Kisa... "She reaches out againa nd tries to pat Kisa on the head with a greaat big slightly clawed paw..." She says and umms "Kiiisssaaa, it's for a birthday party for a relation that's barely related and she wants a fancy cake, and has nothing to do with periods, or heats or anything like that." She says cheerfully.
Kae then looks at Cryo... "Oooh wanna helps me bake a cake? You can try the messups!"
"I'm sure we'll be talkin' about that an' all sorts of hygiene tips during the event, and--" The khazadi looks at Kisa with a growing sense of horror.
She then turns, that Growing. Sense. Of. Foreboding settling over her, over the ENTIRE LAND FOREVER, like a massive shadow.
And looks towards Kaelyn. "Can you bake a three-layered red velvet cake with dripping, runny strawberry icing for my cousin's niece's period party." And oh god please not have it explode.
She's a khazadi. It's like she's dealt with artificers.
Nothing. Nothing bad could ever come out of this. Right. Right?!?? She meanwhile, focuses on Kaelyn. And jabs a mute, mute stubby-finger at the sith-makar for the Am'shere remark.
World. Crumbling.
NOTHING CAN GO WRONG. "I have to come up with games, too," she adds, plaintively.
"Who would want a cake that bleeds?" Elycia says rather openly from fairly close to Cryosanthia. She then shakes her head before looks to Cryosanthia. "Are you, by chance....a sith-makar?" She has a slight accent, so her saying 'Sith-makar' might come across a bit off.
That confirms it, dwarves do eat clothing. The sith-makar notes this and files it away. Her tail metronome dies away as Tami becomes more instructional and less sounding-board. Something Kae said filters through, as she is poked Cryo asks, "Dwarves get heats?"
"You want me to clean up the red fruit messes Kaelyn? All right. Red things clash very strongly with my scales, it always looks like a bloody mess. Especially if it is a cake that bleeds."
"No... No, Kae." Kisa shakes her head at the not-quite Kaelyn shaped one who is patting her on the head. "Nono. It's not for a birthday party, it's a Period Party! We need to get... to get Witchhazel, and then baking soda which can sometimes work to get blood out of cloth. And! AND! Discuss how you can use ice magic to create the most magical of creations."
There's a sort of scratching at her chin, the eyes flitting up and to the side as she keeps trying to remember more. So many things are just kinda... she doesn't think about it. It's like trying to remember how to explain working on ledgers. It's kind of a whole process that isn't little things to make it all work but many things that work together.
Another head tilt and some more chin-scratching. Oh! new person, "Hello!" Kisa raises her hand to Elycia, "It's a Period party! Who /wouldn't/ want a cake that bleeds. OH! And blood red nail polish! OR BETTER! Get it in icing and they can decorate their own uterus cookies!"
"This sounds like a fun party, can anyone come?" Cryosanthia asks, still missing most of the context.
"That....doesn't sound very comfortable for the one who has had this event." Elycia says before looking to Cryosanthia. "I'm Elycia, and....I've never met a Sith-makar. I've seen one once, but that was only when I was training with the Bonesworn clan." She goes back to listening to the others....
Kae jaw drops and peeerrrs at Kisa now... "Kisa? UMmm it's a birthday party, you're getting things confuuuused." She says and peers at her very very long time friend. She then peers at Tami now, blinking some and motions to Kisa befor she tilts her head and her wings shrug up some... She glances back at Kisa... "Sooo yeah, yer getting things confused!" Kae then blinks at Cryo...
"Umm Devils food cakes are a dark red chocolate cake... they're called that cause the color of the cake.. And yus it can be done with strawberries on cream cheese icing... It's not a huge deal to do it... I can possibly have a couple testers done before tonight's up." She says and blinks some more...
Another pause... "I just needs a lil help cause my hands aren't the same and sometimes fine manipulation just isn't my thing.... giant claw-tipped paw-hands aren't the best for being delicate." She adds and her tail lashes once, then wraps around her back legs...
Kae then blinks at Cryo now "Sooo what Kisa is talking about is a humanoid Mamal's menstral cycle and stuff... Period parties are like for the first period, lady's now a woman and all, think like coming of age... And it cycles monthly... Not yearly like in some species." She's trying to be very informative!!!
"Y'can do that? You can make it bleed? Like bloop over like a...like a volcano!" the khazadi asks. Then, a goofy grin makes its way across her features. "Could be this ain't gonna stink, after all." The grin vanishes. "We need that cake, though. Need it. M'cousins tell me it's th' damn centerpiece!"
"...huh. How much more work do ythink it would be t'make it look like th' Blessed Mother Althea?" she asks, torn between asking Kisaiya and Kaelyn and oh god why. "And shoot, yeah, I'll help. Anythin' to get m'cousin t'stop making those puppy-dog eyes at me."
She looks to Cryo and Elycia, then. "Ain't supposed t'be comfortable. S'supposed t'be informative. She's gonna have t'deal with this shit th' rest of her life. We may as well kick it off with a party. How the hell'd we get to eatin' fabric, though?" she asks. Starts to look at Kisaiya.
Opens her mouth.
Closes it.
"You know what, I just --I don't. I don't even." To Cryo, "And I reckon. It's anyone m'cousin likes, anyhow. Just stop by th' restaurant and start introducin yourself around, I guess."
Kisa blinks and tilts her head as she looks at Elycia still, "Well that's the point, because it /can/ be more comfortable, but it's about being inf-" a gesture at Khogh with a nod, "Just stupid preconceptions about it all. Besides, do you have /any/ idea how hard it is to figure some of that stuff out on your own? I mean! C'mon! Who would guess that Chamomile with fennel, cinnamon, and ginger could actually /help/?" She plants her hands on her hips and squints at Elycia, her mouth forming a thin line.
"I bet you didn't have one. You know, you should go to one." A nod of her head, "OR! OR! That it's so much better to go with a quilted material over filling it with raw cotton." Another nod.
Then she turns at looks at Kaelyn, her head tilting to the side. "No... No Kae, it's not for a birthday party. It's a Period Party." She frowns, her mouth pulling to the side, "Totally is. That's why it's gotta be a blood red cake. Not dark red, /blood/ red." Another nod.
"Oh, it is a pleasure to meet you. Peace on your Nest, is the greeting we use with each other, and it is polite to hear it from the softskins. You will see many more sith in Alexandria, we have a settlement nearby and are often present. Especially in the marketplace, and at the temples." Cryosanthia saysto Elycia, careful to keep her snout down so her teeth aren't terribly visible."
Her attention is then drawn by Kaelyn's very lengthy and informative explanation and back into the other conversation. At least this time she's not the one talking about reproductive details in front of a new arrival to Alexandria. This city must give the worst first impressions, "Oh! I see, well I can help with the cake then. So, that is why humans and dwarves have such parties? Interesting. This one has never had one."
More... embarassing details shared. Must not be a sith thing.
She nods to Khogh, "It has been very informative. I shall come by for introductions."
Elycia doesn't seem that bothered by teeth. "All right. Peace on your nest then." She then smiles and looks to the rest of the....planning party. "Uhm....if you're gonna discuss something of that nature...shouldn't it be by her parents? Or am I missing something here?"
"It is a community celebration. She is praised and inducted into the Woman Caste." Cryosanthia explains, guessing wildly. She indicates Kogh-Dorahl, "this one has been tasked with obtaining the cake."
Kae stares just staarrreeees... She then blinks and looks at the Khazad who wants the cake... "Ookies, soo what exactly is this cake for?" She asks curiously, blinking again... "Tell me exaaaactly what you want.. Kisa's confusing me." She points at Kisa... It's true too, maybe! Or Kae likes bugging Kisa.
Kisa tilts her head again, "Her mom will probably be there too, unless she's not there, but that's kinda the point! It's not just /one/ it's a -party-." A grins and she throws her hands up at this, then it seems something else catches her eye and she starts wandering off after it. Starting to dictate things to Tami again.
"We should probably triple up on our cotton this summer. Honestly, I feel like there's never quite enough. We so gotta find a way to drive the prices /down/ for that matter." She's back to scratching at her chin.
"Hmm... I wonder if we can get it made into patterns for cheap. Probably not, but it would be nice. You know, make it more fun." She waves a hand back toward the Khazadi and Ko.
"BYE KAE! BYE OTHER PEOPLE WHO I WON'T REMEMBER YOUR NAMES!" At least she was honest.
THUNK. The sound of a clipboard being struck against a forehead.
"You put chamomile in th' tea? We have to import it. Before th' trade with Myrddion took off, Bless th' Queen, we had to rely on derri-root. Similar effect, just slimy in th' way it went down."
"I remember th' first time I tried it--grandmother made sure I did, she said. T'appreciate th' advancements th' Queen had given us. I near lost it on my boots."
Khogh jabs a thick digit at Cryo, then. "Scaled'un gets it." To Elycia, "Girl, we need t'invite you over. Have a woman's day out or somethin'."
To Kae, then, "It's a Period Party. It's sort of like a birthday party, but not exactly. You've mostly got it right, though. Th' important thing is--we make this thing as big an' as fancy as possible."
She looks over as Kisaiya wonders off, her expression sort of--settling like a khazadi's will. You know. Somewhere between a twitchy, rolly boulder, and stone. Kind of like someone's uncle bit into an odd mushroom and isn't sure whether to down it or drop into convulsions.
That kinda thing.
"Good luck with the blood explosions!" The white-scale calls after Kisa and Tami.
Then she stands there, quietly attentive, her hands on her belt and her tail slowly curling from side to side behind her. She watches Khogh-Dorahl, fascinated at the many inscruitable messages her body language is sending, which aggregate into an overwhelming 'Danger -- Do Not Poke'.
Kae links a few more times... "Oooh, period party ummmm...t his is like a first, but I can makes cake... Dunno if I'm good enough to make it bleed, but maaaybe I can put lik raspberry stuff between the layers and it'll seep out when cut... Maybe..." She says and blinks as she peers at Khogh now curiously..> "That what you wants/" She asks, then looks to Cryo and grins... "Any place to set up the stuff to makes the cake?"
"This one thinks that Kisa is engaged to make it, and is only lacking the clothes to dress the cake with. We can still make a cake if you like, but the neice needs on that does not have feathers in?" Cryo looks at Khogh for confirmation, then Elycia.
"This one did not catch the restaurant I should visit. And apologies, I missed your name."
"So long as w'get the cake, is what matters. The way this is goin', I'm thinkin' we ought to have a backup plan. You," the khazadi says, and punches a thicc, sausage-finger towards Kaelyn. "You are now th' backup plan. Or main plan. Whichever. When do we get t'bakin' this thing?" Khogh asks. She even turns back towards Kaelyn, to address her more proper-like. Never let it be said a khazadi doesn't have manners.
Sometimes.
And then she looks towards the other two women there, and back and forth.
"...well, shit. I work at a restaurant," she says, eventually. "Out in th' country a bit, but I don't see m' aunt sayin' no." Then, "Heck if I know what t'do about th' /decorations/, but I'll figure somethin' out."
Some drink might help with that decision-making.
Because khazadi. "Same one as I'd mentioned before. Stoneworks Calzones--it's a little west of Wilderness. You'd probably like it. And it's Khogh," she says. No clan or last name. Odd.
"I'm Elycia." She says softly before looking to Khogh as she introduces herself. "Nice to meet you, Khogh. I'm Elycia."
"Oh! This one has seen that when I was hiking in the Redridge. I think. I may have been lost. I remember the name. It was late and closed, but I shall go there again." Cryo says, then offers, "I can buy some supplies from the Fernwood if you are unsure you have them."
The sith-makar contemplates decorating ideas, "Would bloody red messes be too much? Implied. Such as old clothing, torn and painted red, left lying around. A red hat with a bowl inside that spills jam if one leans too much. Everyone attending in red? Scrubbing boards set discretely around the edges of the room?"
"A pleasure, Elycia, Khogh." Cryo makes a small curtsey. "This one is Cryosanthia, or Cryo, as I said earlier. That one is Kaelyn, she whose name will be remembered."
I like th' way you think," Khogh says to Cryo, then seems to think on that. "Jam cookies, I'm thinkin. Ah--them brownies you bite into? I've seen your small ones eatin' them," the khazadi says. Then, looks to Kaelyn, "You can bake these, right? I--oh shite."
"I've got shift in an hour," she says, horror dawning on her features. "I've got t'go find m'rockbeast."
"Rockbeast? Man..I have been out of touch." Elycia says with a shake of her head. "I guess I'm gonna have to learn a lot of stuff while I'm here."
"Yes! The Maugrin Cricket Brownies. Death to Tyrants!" Cryosanthia grins ferally. She loves those. Must get more.
Then the performer part of her brain kicks in, and starts spitting out ideas, which she simply rambles off in disorder. "Perhaps, a Witch, maybe very gobliny, that bursts in half way through and cackles uncomfortable facts while terrorizing the guests. And a song.... Hm... 'Every Month is painted'... No, 'Every Month is Sacred'... A song can be created. Dancers, with the cabaret costumes, all in white but the petticoats are red, for when they kick. Water balloons... or Oh! Balloons with Red Vodka in them... or..."
"Yes, we shall get on this task while you search for your beast! We are plan B!" Cryosanthia promises.
"I'll let m'aunt know we need th' kitchen!" Khogh says. She raises her hand in salute. "Head on out to Vadran--can't miss it! I'll pay y'in GOLD, eh?!" and then th' khazadi is off like a--like a khazadi! Go, stumpy legs, go!
Oh gods she is going to be SO LATE!!!!
Kae blinks a bit and tilts her head before rubbing at her neck. "Eee we so gotta makes a cake now!" She says and gets up... "I gotta go get my gear!" And with that, Kae spins and is going to her wagon!
"This one shall get red velvet cake supplies!" The white-scale turns towards the Fernwood, digging for some coin. She looks at Elycia, "Are you part of the madness, or do you wish a room and meal in the Fernwood?"
As she waits for an answer, she contemplates all she has learned. So biological! Poor softskins! Every Month! From that day forward she never doubted that the sith-makar were the best.
"I think I'd rather just have a room in the Fernwood, I guess. Seems the most sensible." Elycia says softly before rubbing her hands together. "Well.....I guess it'd be a good place to start."
"All right, come with me." The white-scale sith pushes open the door to the Fernwood, holding it for Elycia. "It's usually good in here, no fights. No strangeness. Well, Kaelyn. And I've had a fight in here... It's really good! Trust me, don't let the first impression dominate."
She smiles, very carefully keeping her mouth closed, and waves to be followed.
Elycia says, "As long as there aren't any fights I get involved in. I just....don't want to get into fight unless there's a good reason for it." Elycia says as she looks at her hands. "I...have my reasons." She says walking into the pub with Cryosanthia."
Dramatis Personae
Khogh-Dorahl
This khazad-aul is dressed in a hunter's garb. True to her kind, she bears a thick mane. It is bound in a wavy plait arranged in a crown about her head. At her side is a light shield, spear, and sling. They look as though they've seen frequent use and are well-made. On her arm, at closer inspection, is the shadow of what must have been a military insignia. She is often seen about with a young wolf cub.
Kisaiya
She stands right about 5'9" tall and looks on the younger side, she's fit and lightly muscular. Tanned skin with the look of hours out in the sun speak of her upbringing in the plains. Her hair is on the shorter side, a graduated bob cut that is shorter near the nape of her neck. The color of her hair is more brown closer to her roots, with the color lightening into almost a darker red hue as it gets closer to the tips making for a flow of color as it matched with the haircut. Her eyes are a hazel, clear but bordering more on a dark green with a splatter of a brown shade right outside of the pupil of her eyes. A few piercings along the top of her right ear, four of them. They alternate between small bands and stylized stars of a bright metal color, perhaps silver. Tucked back behind her other ear is a flower made from bits of cloth all tied and folded together. The petals of the flower are pulled out in a way to make it reminiscent of a star.
The full-circle hooded cloak looks to be of a fairly average design, the exterior is a tightly knit gray wool-material with a light coating to keep it waterproof. The inside is a separate material, a looser weave, and tan in color. The cloak is currently open with the clasp about her neck attached but the majority of the material tossed over a shoulder. The dress is predominantly three parts, a black dress with a black lace overdress, and a deep red sash about her middle that ties in a bow to one side. The black dress is a solid color with a slight sheen to it, the dress is strapless sticking close to her form with a corset that's kept loose. The dress flares out after her hips before coming to a stop just above the ground. The overdress matches the other in length, but in contrast to the material is a lace of intertwining shapes that are reminiscent of knotwork or flora, depending on how you look at it. The overdress is sleeveless with a round neckline, meaning that it covers up higher than the one beneath it. The wide red sash completes the look, wrapping about her middle and tying off to one side in a rather simple looking bow, leaving the tails to hang down the front.
A pair of brown boots that run halfway up her calf and look to be a high quality leather. The soles thick, but the majority of it supple and easy to move in. The boots are secured with fasteners along the outside of her leg.
Kaelyn
A very odd sight. It seems this creature is some kind of dragon? She's long, and slender, maybe 13 feet long overall, nose tip to tail tip. If she were to sit fully upright on her hind legs, she'd probably be 8 feet tall to the top of her horns... A big chunk of her length is in her tail, it being slightly longer, including the feathery tuft in at the tip than the rest of her.
She's covered in pearlescent fur, this covers her muzzle, all the way to the end of her tail, with a coral/rust red mane and well belly scutes from the start of her neck all the way to mid way down her tail...
Her sleek fur-covered muzzle is long, slender, really vaguely horse like in some ways, but still very much so belonging to a dragon. There are a couple tendril-like thick whiskers from the bottom of her chin, as well as other finer whiskers on her muzzle, that might help with feeling air flow... Brilliant, slightly luminescent slitted blue eyes look out from furred heavy ridged forehead as it were, and above that a pair of black, spiraled backswept horns leaps out from her head... Between those horns floats a coral red mane, this mane goes the whole length of her body. Below the horns? Well she has white furred ears, these having a blue and purle tufts at their tips... And behind the horns is a minor crest that is feathered and blends in with that mane.
Her neck is long, and slender, very elegant, and her body is lithe, very cat-like, much like many dragons, though she doesn't seem to be a giant mass of bone and musle... She has 4 legs and a pair of wings, her back legs are what one might expect, 4 toed, with a dew claw and heavy talons tipping the end of those back paws, her muscles are probably heaviest there, or seemingly heaviest there... the tops of her feet, and toes are scaled with overlapping scutes, these being blue in color, with fur on the very back of the paws, and large paw-pads over the toes.
Her forepaws? These are different, they work fine for her normal quadropedal form of locomotion, but she can walk, slowly on her back legs, and use her forelegs as hands. Even iff the digits end in a retractable claw and are just slightly thicker than what one might expect... Still they're incredibly nimble.
Her wings? Well they're not webbed, nope, they're huge, and feathery... The lead joint having a couple fingers with claws terminating them like one might expect, but the rest? Well, it's plumed, the leading plumage, for about a third of the wing is white, pearlescent white feathers, leading to blue secondary flight feathers, all in a long row, the length of her wing, and her primaries are an pearlescent purple in color. The very tips of her wings are the same rust red as her mane and belly scutes.
Finally the tail? Well that really acounts for the majority of her length.. Meaning she 's long, but not really huge nor heavy for her overall length. Really she's the weight of a small horse... Back to her tail, it's long, slender, whipplike in some ways, with that same white fur on it and the red mane like long hair. This terminates in a big tuft of fur and feathers at its very end which might aid in flight? There's also a tuft of feathers on either side of the base of her tail that is probably spread and used when she's in flight as some kind of stabilizer.
All and all, she'd be quite majestic as a very small breed of dragon, if well, she's cute.. Adorable maybe, her face is hugely expressionate, she doesn't even radiate any of the preadatory vibe one might expect of her species.
Lastly she wear a harness with pouches, bags and such, and a pair of gun hoslters each holding a dragon spitter, which she can actually grab and use in those odd hands of hers.
Cryosanthia
Cryosanthia is a tall, lithe lizardgirl with flamboyant mannerisms and a flashy style. Her scales are a bright, snow white, complimented by her frills and keratin-scale 'hair' which are the pale blue found in glacial ice. This gleaming tapestry is marred by dark tattoos gouged in her hide, green-black in colouration, which at times have a dark glow. Her snout is long and tapers elegantly. Her legs and tail are likewise graceful, despite being a significant portion of her size and mass. She seems light on her talons and energetic, head glancing quick from side to side. Her eyes are bright and like her frills, the palest of blues with a dramatic slit pupil.
Cryosanthia's clothes are a simple kit of kilted leather armour in white. It is close fitting enough to seem a part of her, but it lacks the lustre of her scales having instead a dull finish. She has sandals that leave her talons free, as well as a hat that is hanging to the back as often as it is on her head. A long blue feather is tucked into the woven band. Finally, she wears a cloak, likewise fashioned from white leather but with a satin interior that matches her eyes. It gleams when the light catches it right. Belted to her hip she has a rapier, a couple of pouches, and a tiny bag on a thong around her long neck.
Elycia
Standing 6'4" tall, this woman has blonde hair that reaches to her shoulders. She also has pale blue eyes framed by blonde eyebrows and high cheekbones. She does have an angular face, but her eyes have a hardened edge to them.
Toned and muscled, but still the usual feminine taper in toward the waist and then back out. She wears a silver breastplate, but mostly keeps gauntlets off of her hands. Soft leather boots, once black but now more weathered, adorn her feet. She does not carry weapons.
