- Title: Market Day
- Emitter: Cryosanthia
- Characters: Azog, Kaelyn, Mae, Cryosanthia, Shin, Toshsio, Masamya
- Place: A07: Lower Alexandria Market District
- Time: Saturday, February 22, 2020, 12:34 PM
- Summary: The Lower Alexandria Market is in full swing, with packs of goblins buying up materials and everyone else discussing what happened the night before. Toshio has some kittens, which Mirai, Shin's tiger, adopts. Mae and Acedia argue over music, and Acedia questions what 'Embrace the Goblinity' means and gets a free shirt. Toshio and Masamya, egalrin new to Alexadria, appear when Cryo, Braelnoir and Merek are discussing Braelnoir's paws, and alternatives that might let her stay as she is, a silver chimera, and still use weapons. Sith swearing is elaborated upon, and Kaelyn attempts to fly and possibly injures herself when she is unsuccessful.

Just west of the Northern Highbridge and east of the arena, commerce blooms. Noisy and bustling, most anything may be purchased here for a price. Vendors from all cultures sell their wares from exotically colored carts, and the smells of different nations and far-off city-states mix with local ones from Alexandria and its riverbanks.
For all its commerce, visitors are advised to keep hold of their purses. Even the merchants possess a certain, cunning look. Most are positioned at carts or stalls as opposed to a formal storefront, with trade here being mobile, and visiting from all parts of the world.
Though the quality of goods suffers here compared to Upper Alexandria, the options are more diverse. Too, the oversight of the Watch is slightly less, and during times events are held at the Arena, chaos abounds. After dark, the square becomes a hangout for bards and other entrepreneurs whose business is best conducted by night; the shadows at the edges of the square often contain furtive figures engaging in their own brand of business.

It seems like a normal day, a cold wind blows from the west, driving charcoal clouds before it and blotting out the stars in isolated patches overhead. The air is clear and elsewhere people are enjoying time out at the market. Roving bands of Gobbers, Arvek, and Oruchs buying goods for an Airship. Talk of the Kaiju. Azog and Toshio are at Mae's stand, Iskandar nearby. Charlotte, Shin, and Kae a bit farther than that.
"So that would explain why the Arvek are so seriously serious. I mean, seriously...can they get any more serious?" Charlotte then nods. "I'm not surprised they're working on an airship. But...whatever they woke up....if the Arvek are worried.....yeah."
Toshio reaches into his pack and pulls out four kittens. one was black and white, one was solid grey, another was grey with stripes and the last was a siamese blue point. They all start mewling as he lets them roam about his feet. "They are small now, but will grow into healthy housecats if need be. I am trying to find them homes."
Kae blinks and peeerrrrrs at Toshio.... Blink... blink.... "You should talk to Sandy and Kisaia..... They both loooove cats!" she says cheerfully... "Specially, Kisa, she's part cat right now you know!" She adds and then grins impishly...
Ok, soo her body language, to those that an read it is really full on, 'Imma cause trouble today, yaaay!'
Kae then attempts, baddly, to look innocent as she goes to another stand and gets her self some fried chicken.....
Iskandar notices something interesting, and walks away to inspect it.
Shin looks from the blonde to those around a bit, then to the blonde. "Being Built. Still working on." He states. The Xian born man shakes his head, "If I did not see it with my own eyes, I would not believe it. Apparently whatever they did woke it up."
And of course, the tigress... well... Kaelyn's wandered off. But not without a tag along. Mirai is following her.
And Shin just looks over, staring. Then he sighs and looks at Charlotte. "Excuse me." He turns to follow the tiger. And Kaelyn.
Mae picks up her hand from the table, a etch of a glowing circle in the air, and she plants her hand back down on the marble which starts to glow and shift like it were melting and reshaping. Her head tilts to the side, wild gray bangs falling in her face.
She blows at the hairs a couple times before giving up and focusing down on the marble. "Okay." And when she pulls her hand back there's a reasonably wide and shallow bowl. The bowl keenly smooth without sharp edges and large, simple, cat faces embossed on the outer walls.
"There!" She nods her head, pushing the bowl toward Toshio before shaking her arm to make the feathers fall off.
The door to the Fernwood Pub opens and one of its off-duty servers slips out. The white-scaled sith-makar, with the white leather armour and the floppy hat, which is being worn this time. She has a new ensemble addition, a gold ring, worn over gloves that are easy to miss as they look exactly like her scales. She seems well rested and perky. She adjusts her rapier and looks about.
Busy, very busy, with a few people she recognizes.
"Peace on your nests," She gives a general wave, then stares at the Egalrin pulling out the kittens. Cryo approaches Toshio, "Oh My Scales! What are those? Miniature Jaguars? Tigers?"
Azog looks around, but decides he has collected enough stuff for now, and he'll wander back to the Temple. At lesat it's not snowing. He eyes Shin critically, but shrugs.
Toshio takes the bowl and pulls out a couple of coins and gives it to the woman. "Thank you." He says with a grateful tone. He then pulls out a small sack of meat shreds and pours it into the bowl and lets the kittens begin eating the shreds. He then looks to Cryosanthia. "They are house cats. Most people use them to hunt mice in barns and farmlands. I found these four with their dead mother in my travels. I have been caring for them until I found them good homes." He explains to the sith.
Mae takes the coins and tucks them away into a pouch, looking off in the direction of Azog. "Well if you don't want the warming rock, there's always the Hole-y Drinking cup!" She nudges the oddly shaped cup off in the direction of Azog. Not sure if he'll come back, but making sure it's visible all the same. And then -- then -- she spots something feathery. She waits until Kaelyn picks up some of the fried chicken, then with another movement of her hand in a glowing, floating, circle she points at the chicken itself.
Where Kaelyn might find it now smells and tastes of cabbage.
"So they are not food animals?" The palescale sith makes mental notes, watching the furballs as they dig into the meat strips. She elaborates, "Jaguars sneak in, eat our eggs and hatchlings. Nest-Mothers use them as monsers to scare us when they aren't scary enough. When I was a youngling mine were always saying, 'A jaguar is going to come snatch you Cryosanthia! You get back here! Eat you in your sleep! You be good.' Well who's the monster now huh? Rawrrr!"
She opens her mouth in a threatening grin, attempting to intimidate kittens.
"Well, considering the sitgma around artifice, it would wake a lot of things up." Charlotte says before looking to Toshio. "if you're looking for homes for them, try the arcanist house. They'd likely enjoy having cats and kittens in their building." It's then that Cryosanthia comes out, and she smiles. "How're you doing? better than when last I found you?"
GAME: Shin rolls companionperception: (19)+7: 26
Kae is being followed by a tiger! She blinks at the critter and reaches out and rubs it between the ears again.... She notices Azog at this point, and smiles cheerfully, befrore waving to them! Not that she knows Azog too well..
Then Kae notices her chicken tastse like cabbage....
Kae now squints at Mae "I like chicken!" She calls out, flailing her arms, and now wings too... Kae then siiiiiighsand pouts, before looking to the lady at the stand... "She made my chicken taste funny.." Kae tattles, pointing now at Mae...
Kae then hands her current chicken to the tigress, before getting her self another one....
She then looks back toward everyone else and then blinks, before she yawns, maw opening quite wide and long pointy tongue curling... "Eeeef..." She says and then takes a bite of -propper- tasting chicken and squints at Mae again.
Someone talking about cats, and then the mewling. Mirai turns her head from Kaelyn despite the chicken being offered. The tigress looks around, before making her way back over towards Toshio and the group. An angry tail lashes behind her from the looks, too.
Shin, looking confused as he hasn't heard the mewling, hurries after the tigress. Said tigress stops once she's near Toshio and Cryosanthia. Then growls. In what is a very obvious, threatening manner at the two. A loud, fierce growl at that.
Shin looks confused as he watches this. He looks very, very confused as to what's going on. Especially with the threatening growl. Azog ehs as Mae speaks up just as he's departing. "No, I don't need any of your junk. Are you part goblin?" He's sort of the opposite of politically correct. He turns around this time and does head out. He'll pause at another store and purchase a large-ish crate. He doesn't really know Kae, apart from by reputation. Everyone in the city probably knows Kae by reputation. But he doesn't seem to notice her waving as he strides off southward.
"They can be but I rather they didnt. Growing up in the monastary we tended to most of the animals." Toshio explains. He then offers a wrapped hand to Cryosanthia. "I am Toshio." He says as he watches the woman. "I have never met a sith makar." He says as he studies her. He then looks to Mae and nods. "Thank you for the bowl. If you have another dish for water I will buy it." He says as he looks to the tigress and begins to move away from the kittens.
Another circle of her hand, the glow of it following in the wake of her finger, a bit of a snaggletoothed grimace of concentration. She finishes the motion and points in the direction of Kaelyn again, a /SECOND/ roast chicken floats in front of Kaelyn, just a hand's reach away.
Of course if Kaelyn would reach for it, it would always seem to be sliiiightly out of reach, "There you are Feathers!" She calls out to Kaelyn before looking back to Toshio?
"What? Oh. Sure. Just give me a bit."
Cryosanthia looks away from menacing kittens and smiles at Charlotte, "Peace on your nest, I'm doing well. Had a good punch up last night, got some sense knocked in. Very..."
She's about to reply to Toshio when
... is that growling...?
"... Hey Mirai, how you doing?"
"Well...that answers my question actually. I may need to get prepared then." Charlotte says to Shin. "I'll likely see you all soon." She says starts to trot off towards the adventurer's guild.
Kae blinks and squiiiints at Mae.... She holds up her fried chicken she just re-ordered, and promptly shoves the contents in her maw, quickly chews, a couple times and swallows, before she sticks her tongue out at Mae...
Kae then glances around and looks again to a growling Mirai? She blinks and tilts her head again, then looks around and her ears perk.. "Oooh it's soo busy today!" Kae grins and wandersin toward Cryo now.. She waggles her tail once and attepts to cover Cryo's eyes, probably ends up using her hands or a combination of hands and wings. "Guess who!!!"
Charlotte leaves.
Shin just stares a bit at Mirai. "Mirai, what are you doing?" He moves to one side of the tigress.
Who is still growling at Cryosanthia and Toshio threateningly . Once they do more than stand around, the tigress moves to the kittens and leans closer to look at them. Sniffing them at that.
Shin blinks as he looks at the kittens, then to his tigress, then to Toshio and Cryosanthia, "... okay, why are there kittens here? And what kind are they? They do not look to be tiger cubs or any others I am familiar with."
Mae keeps floating the chicken in front of Kaelyn. It looks decidedly like fried chicken and doesn't smell of cabbage! "GO ON FEATHERS! GET THE CHICKEN!" A grin and then back to Toshio. She tilts her head to the side, "Oh right." She stops moving the chicken in front of Kaelyn to put the hand down on the left over marble from the previous bowl, and repeats the process to create a second bowl for Toshio.
"There ya go." A push of the bowl in Toshio's direction.
Of course if Kaelyn tried to grab the fried chicken that she hovered in front of Kaelyn, Kaelyn would find it to be a mirage. All smoke and mirrors and no substance what-so-ever.
Toshio walks over to Shin when it is clear they arent in any danger. "I found them on the road outside of the vast. Their mother was killed and I rescued them from being eaten." He says as he watches the tiger. "It would seem your tiger likes them." He says calmly as he watches the interactions. "If you know of people willing to adopt them I wouldnt mind giving them up. They are mixed breed housecats." He says calmly.
Toshio accepts the water bowl and pays for it. handing the money to the elf.
"Uh wait, what? It got dark." Cryo is enveloped by wings, hands on her eyes, feathers. Cabbage? "Kaelyn?"
Did a jaguar eat her when she was distracted? "Mirai?"
Shin rubs the back of his head, "I would say this is more... sympathy than anything?" Shin looks to the tigress and kittens. The man looks unsure how to handle this, "When Mirai was a cub, I found her after a pack of raptors had killed her family. She's been with me ever since. I think my lady might like them. She loves Mirai like her own as much as Mirai stays with me. And as little trouble as she is, I'm sure she'll love the kittens as well. Plus, we have been having some mice problems here and there."
Mirai, meanwhile, starts to purr a little. The tigress even starts to clean the kittens in the way cats do. And looks to be doing so extremely carefully, too! She definitely doesn't answer Cryo. Nope.
Toshio nods at shin. "They already hunt, despite their young age." Toshio says as he watches the man. He then hands the bowls of water and food to shin. "If your lady you serve will take care of them, then I relinquish them to you. Growing up I always took care of animals." He says as he watches the tiger. He then wraps his wings about him like a feathery cloak. The kittens meanwhile try to play with the tiger, letting the larger cat bathe them and mewling softly at her like she was their mother.
Merek is shopping in the markets while he makes a way about, red-black longcoat upon the dark attire which he wears while he picks up things.
Cryosanthia attemps to find the way out of the Kaelyn. Carefully she reaches out, unsure what she might enounter, attempting to push open the wings, move the hands from her eyes. It's like being in a giant pillow.
Shin nods, "I'm fairly sure. If not, I will find them another home or adopt them myself. If they can hunt for themselves, that means they just need water among other things."
Mirai, meanwhile, bats the kittens around without claws as she cleans them carefully. Yep. Looks like she's adopted them!
Mae stands still at her table, RUNE-PORIUM and swipes up the coins that Toshio left behind. She tilts her head to the side and gives a little frown... where did that stick go. OH RIGHT!
She reaches down and grabs it, putting it back on the table amidst all the other small objects. Some of which have glowing runes, some of them shake a little on the table, it's a mish-mash of various objects.
Toshio nods at the man. "Then I entrust them to you. The monastary I grew up in followed the teachings of gilead and because of this I have a respect and love for all life. Hunting is a part of the natural order and as long as people hunt for food and not sport, then I can rest comfortably." He says as he looks to Cryosanthia and smiles and tries to help her. "Thank you for letting me meet a new race." He says to the woman and begins to head out.
Kae staaarrreees at Mae... "You doo know I'm Sentient, riiiight? Imma goof, but I'm sentient, and sooo not apt to chasing after floating fried chicken." She says and then sticks her long pointy tongue out at Mae. She then grins at Cryo and lets go.... "heee....." She says, yes she's feeling a bit playful at the moment...
Cryosanthia finally wriggles free of Kaelyn, and catches the egalrin departing. She calls quickly after him, "Peace on your nest!"
Looking around now, she nods to Shin, then Mae, whom she recognizes from before. "Oh, hello Merek, when did you get here?"
Shin shrugs, "I guess I need to get these kittens home now. Oh, this is going to take a while for her to get used to all this." He looks slightly annoyed by it, then hums before he looks at Mae. "Do you have a basket of some sorts? I don't think the bag would be a good thing for them now that they seem to be so... safe?"
Mirai, meanwhile, is also coralling the kittens at the moment.
Merek looks over to Cryosanthia, "I was here for a bit, I always am, you just don't notice," he says, while he makes a mysterious gesture.
GAME: Merek rolls bluff: (7)+8: 15
Mae throws up her hands, half-glaring at Shin, "What do I look like, a basketweaver?!" A sigh and she gestures at her table again.
Nels does not look at all like Nels the goblin, for all that she's carrying his thunderbelcher around like a good luck charm. She wanders into the market district and looks around, sighing at the crowd. She's markedly less wobbly on the platform shoes, for those that have seen her before, she's at least been walking around a lot. But a goblin's got to eat, even when they're, for the moment, not very goblinny.
Kae silently offers a bit of fried chicken to Cryo now, as she looks at the Tiger playing with Kittens.... Kae then peeers at Mae "Well that would be a great use for your magic!" She says cheerfully, and points at Mae now...
"Well, Kaelyn was in the way, and there were the mini-jaguars." Cryosanthia explains to Merek. She recognizes the goblin-turned-woman with the thunderbelcher in the proximity, and raises her hand to wave to Nels. A greeting is witheld because there is some chicken to take. Hopefully actual chicken, and not illusion chicken, she has somewhat lost track. "Thanks Kaelyn."
Shin shakes his head, then shrugs, "Fine, fine..." He moves down to carefully coral the kittens in the bag. Mirai looks at him curiously, so Shin thinks for a moment, then says to her, "Home. Saya."
The latter is obviously something she understands as she gives a rumbling purr that's easily heard before actually pushing the kittens into the bag. Despite their mewling, Shin moves to pull the bag up. He looks to Toshio, "Might I ask your name, good sir, before I have to go? I am called Shin, the tigress is Mirai." The bag is held carefully, so as not to hurt the kittens.
Nels can't miss the wave from the huge white lizard, and she'll head over to see what's up? "Hey!" she calls out, startled as usual at how her voice comes out. That's still kind of weird. She waves to her fellow sufferer Kaelyn also, and when she gets close enough to address the crowd, asks, "What's up?"
Merek nods a bit to Cryosanthia with her words, while he looks to people in thought. "Well, in any case." He chuckles a bit, watching and listening.
"Peace on your nest... Nels? This one has had a busy yesterday, much has slipped my mind." Cryosanthia says, making a little bow to Nels. She gestures around, "Shopping seems to be the activity. There were mini-jaguars, that Shin has taken. My ears are still ringing from last night. I was at a rock concert near Merkabah, there were fireworks, an airship in construction, a giant artifice monster. Very incredible. I was seeking something to eat, and it found me."
She bites the chicken Kaelyn handed to her.
Nels winces about the meeting in Merkahnah, and grumbles to Cryosanthia, "Yeah, I wanted to go, but ... I couldn't very well go with this cursed body. They'd have laughed me out of the city." She pauses. "Wait, /you/ were there?" she asks, puzzled. "How did .... some kind of disguise?"
"No one needed a disguise, I think. I went as myself," Merek mentions then to Nels, "I... Don't think they'd have minded you there?"
Mae keeps the silent image of the friend chicken hovering in front of Kaelyn... I mean, she said she wasn't going to chase it, but that doesn't mean Mae wasn't going to have some fun. "Go o-o-o-n. I promise I won't move it." And she won't, she will totally leave the silent image of fried chicken right there in front of Kaelyn... for Kaelyn to try and fail to grab.
But with that she goes back to sorting around her table, moving things into the right area, putting the broken stick off to one side but in a clearly visible area. A few more feathers sprout out on her arm and she looks up into the sky. It was a full moon above the horizon. A SIGH and she picks up the potion and takes another swig.
The white sith shakes her head to Nels, "No disguise. Well, I had some nice robes. I was there to represent Mictlan; I was the only Sith-Makar I saw present. I felt it might be an event to witness. This was an accurate premonition. There were a few other non-goblinoids there; the experience might be different for strangers. You undoubtedly would have encountered friends and associates. That is an interesting weapon you have, there was a lot of fireworks."
The faint sounds of a stringed instrument slowly begin to permeate the area, growing in volume over time. Soon, the player is visible, just barely among the crowds. She makes her way to the central square, and begins to slowly dance in a wide circle, the song being fairly familiar, based on an ancient Elven song about bright sun on your face, and wind in your hair, the promise of spring.
Nels grumbles as Merek says that. "That's not what I was told. I was told it was gonna be just goblins. And because of this stupid curse, I stayed away," She glares, though not at anyone. Mad at the world, maybe. Or just frustrated. She peers accusingly at Cryosanthia, but ... accusing her of atteding when she already said she did is pointless. "I thought it was goblins-only," she says, now dejected. "Or else I'd have gone." She nods about friends and assiciates, "Oh yeah, I know a few people around goblintown," she agrees. She looks at her small rifle, and sighs, "Yeah, I guess I'm gonna have to build one sized for this body now."
Shin huhs as he looks around for Toshio now that he notices the eglarian's disappeared. Then he shrugs. Bundling up the kittens carefully, he waves to the others, "Goodbye, Cryosanthia, Kaelyn. I should get these little ones to my lady or wherever they end up."
Mirai gives a cross between a purr and a growl before starting ahead of Shin, off towards wherever their home is. And it's obvious you don't want to get in the tigress or human's way at all as they move through the crowd. Overprotective tigress at the moment, yep!
"Peace on your nest," Cryosanthia calls to Shin, waving a farewell. She folds her hands together in front of her kilt, dipping her head towards Nels. "This one is sorry you missed it. It was spectacular, words cannot describe. OH!"
She unslings her pack, opens it up and takes out a folded shirt. It's a bright tie-dye with 'Embrace the Goblinity' silk-screened in an angry thrash-metal font. The letters are slick and glitter strangely, like magic tar. All the colours, letters included, seem a little blurred as if they were handed out before they properly fixed, and there is some scale patterning on it as well. "I was given this shirt, it's sized goblin medium. It will never fit me, perhaps you would enjoy it when you recover?"
Kae squint at the chicken, then peeerrrrs at Mae.... Kae takes a bit of friedn chicken she bought after the first bit was messed up... She then tosses the piece at Mae.... Not really saying much, before she smirks and sits on her haunches.
Then someone starts to play an instrument and dancing... And it's drawing people away from her booth.
Or at least that's the excuse that Mae is going with.
"BOOOOOOO! BOOOOOOOOOO!" She leans over, "Plucking string, or being strung up, am-I-right?" She says that to a person near by, a person that immediately starts edging away from Mae.
Mae turns back to her booth, sorting out the pieces a little more. She looks up just in time for the chicken to -smack- into her face. She goes a bit cross-eyes looking at it, then watches as it oozes down and drops onto the table. "Huh... Flying meat."
Merek looks between the three, while he nods a bit, and adjusts his longcoat about his frame. He sighs thoughtfully, and looks to the city as a whole.
Nels sighs, holds her hand up to decline the offered shirt. "Nah, it'll just remind me over and over that I missed being there. But thanks for the offer. As far as goblin mediums go," she says, eying her rifle, "I probably ought to make one for this size. No telling how long I'm stuck like this."
The Gobbo playing the violin halts in her dancing, the song trailing off with a very dissonant note. She turns, eyes Mae, and stalks her way over to the booth. "Why are you booing me, exactly?", she asks impatiently, and kicks the front of the stall. "I ain't here badmouthing your... ewh, grossss, why are you dripping ... meat juice." Acedia leans in a little and sniffs at length. "Chicken?" She makes a face and huffs, kicking the stall again. "I ain't bothering you, so leave me alone!"
"You're scaring away the customers." Mae says, planting her hands on her hips. She moves her hand around in a small circle, a glowing residue left behind in the fingers wake, a flick and the chicken goes flying back at Kaelyn. The quietest food fight in existence! She gives a thin-lipped frown at Acedia, snaggleteeth on full display. "I mean, look! There's no one here buying all my Rune-ish goods." She spreads her hands out at the display of items. "Procured straight from discarded Rune-ish ruins."
Which suspiciously sounds like she just said they were trash.
Cryosanthia glances discretely in Kaelyn's direction, gestures at her and answers Nels, "It might be some time. This person here has some experience with artifice transforms." She folds the shirt, returns it to her pack.
"Your dragonspitter comes in a larger size? It would likely not be a waste, to get another for your current scale."
The white-sith makes a small wave at Acedia, recognizing her a little.
Nels nods to Cryosanthia, "Oh yeah, all different sizes. This one'd be fine for a human child, but a grown human would want sometjhing with a wider bore. More stopping power and all that," she explains. "I can make it myself, if I can borrow someone's forge for a few weeks."
Acedia puts her hands on her hips, nearly whacking someone in the shins with the bow of her violin. "Look lady, they ain't scared off by my music playing. It is cheerful and light, puts people in a nicer mood. Maybe you should stop being a scary lady throwing food around. There was no one here before I got here, and no one here when I walked up... stands t'reason that it ain't me, it's you." The Gobbo kicks the front of the stall again. "HMMMPH!
Merek waves a bit to Acedia, while he nods to Cryosanthia, then looks to Nels, seeming to think about it all while he watches people.
"This..." Cryo starts to say, and then is distracted by Acedia. She squeezes her lips together and watches. Her tailtip starts wiggling, then soon her whole tail is wriggling as she fights the urge to laugh, an urge that is very strong. Her eyes glitter and she breathes carefully, taking a step back from that bow in case it's going to be used in some dramatic gestures. It's good to study people, never know when it might come in handy for acting, or something. She whispers quickly to Nels, "Mikilos might have a forge. He makes swords. Those need forges, right? I'll ask around for others."
"I can assist too if need be, which depends upon what it is," Merek says.
Nels nods about Mikilos, "I was there the other day. I'll go back and ask him," she says to Cryosanthia. "Swords and guns are forged a bit differently, but there may be a way to work it out." She peers at Acedia arging with Mae, but she's not getting into that. She looks at Merek, and asks, "Me? If you can help, that'd be great."
Acedia is distracted from her upset by Merek's wave, and she returns it, again nearly whacking someone with the bow. She hmmphs and eyes Miss Gigglefit, and sticks out her tongue at the Sith.
Merek nods to Nels, "I have a masterwork kit for working with gunsmithing," he says, then he looks to Acedia with a smile, and to Cryo with a nod as well!
Kae blinks and peeeerrrs at Cryo curiously, then looks at her dragon spitters... She then tugs one out of its hlster... "I can still use it, just my neck's sooo long it's hard to aim the sucker." She says and then puts the thing back... Really, it fit in her hand like a large 'derringer' might...
Kae then blinkss and snaps the chicken out of the air, on pure instinct as it flies at her, and blinks "Yup, instincts sometimes suck." She says, making an annoyed face..."
The white sith grins, holding out her hands towards Merek, laughing, "There you go, found you another."
She sighs at Acedia, says, "Embrace the Goblinity", and sticks her tongue out right back at her.
The Gobbo stares at Cryosanthia, and blinks a few times. "What does that even mean, Cryosanthia? You're off hugging Gobbos or something?" She cants her head slightly, her ears standing up straight. Acedia looks to Merek a moment. "How have you been, Merek?", she wonders, before looking at Kaelyn. "Eewh, that was on the ground. You're gonna have to wash your hands afterwards!"
Nels nods to Merek, "That'd help, yeah. I used to have a kit, but it ... went missing. I keep meaning to get a new one, but I've been distracted."
"Fair enough, I will do what I can," Merek says, then he looks to Ace, "Well enough, and you?" he asks, offering a pat to the gobbo, while he smiles to Cryosanthia, "It's been quite a week."
Kae's ears splay.... "Soo didn't pick it up with my hands, I snapped ito ut of the air." She says and sighs... "Evidently I have predator instincts and if I'm being goofy and don't pay attention, I do stuff like that." She says before she rubs at the back of her neck again and then looks around, head swiveling as her ears perk up.
"Dive into the Insanity?" Cryosanthia suggests with a shrug, "It wasn't terribly clear. I'll ask the band."
Important safety tip, dont let edible bits near Kae when she's distracted. The white sith nods, "It has Merek, it has."
The Gobbo bares her teeth and snaps at Merek's hand when he goes to pet her, though she doesn't actually prevent him from doing the patting. "That's it? Well enough? And then you say, it's been quite a week?" She crosses her arms ahd huffs. "I'm doing well.", she says quietly, before glancing to Kaelyn.
"Well then you better clean whatever you used to catch it. Sooo icky." Acedia peers at Cryosanthia a moment. "Are you feeling okay?"
Merek nods a bit to Cryosanthia, then he looks to Ace while he glances to Kae, "Well, there's ancient power in the city of artifice and we're doing what we can to best it."
"He is. Saving the world, stopping the artifice. This one is washing dishes, serving food and walking back to Mictlan. Would you like a free shirt?" Cryosanthia answers Acedia, fiddling with her pack. "Nels needs a forge to make a bigger dragonspitter Merek, not a repair."
Nels nods to what Cryo says. "Yes, that's it. Making one the right size for this new body from scratch. I can't really modify the small one for a different size, it'd take all new parts anyhow."
"I mean, you don't need a forge to rearrange pieces, though... If you want to rebuild it fully, I can always rent one and assist in the process to make it look the same, the toolkit would still assist, they are what you require to use it better," Merek says, with a nod. He does look to Nels, "Only a few pieces would need to be a bit new."
"A shirt?", the Gobbo wonders, her ears perking up as Cryosanthia searches in her pack. "I don't think it will fit me." She eyes the much larger Sith-makar. "But sure, I won't say no. Thank you!" Acedia eyes Merek a moment and sticks her tongue out at him, before looking to Nels a moment. "You weren't a Gobbo before?"
"It might." Cryo takes the concert shirt from her back-pack. It remains unchanged from before, a wildly tie-died colourful thing with a very sharp font, for slick letters that seem like dark tar. 'Embrace the Goblinity' is silk-screened on, and there's a bit of a scale pattern where some of the colours came off on her before they dried. "It seems to be a goblin medium, one size fits all. Goblins. Here you go."
She holds out the shirt.
Nels explains to Merek, "Well, you see, I've a few ideas to make it better, and I thought I'd incorporate those ideas while I'm making something new anyhow." And that's how you know she's really a goblin. She peers at Acedia, and says, "Yeah. But now I'm cursed to look like this. I dunno which god I annoyed. I dunno how soon they can break the curse, either, but it'll be not soon enough." She eyes Kaelyn skeptically.
Acedia cants her head slightly and squints. "So what were you before you got changed?", she asks of Nels, before she glances to Kaelyn. "Seeeee, your artifice is causing more people to change into other things. You gotta stop. And you gotta give me that list still, so I can go around and ask people pertinent questions. Before they start forgetting things."
The Gobbo peers at the shirt skeptically, and she eyes Cryosanthia. "Uhm. Did you make this?" She reaches up to take the shirt, and immediately sniffs at it, her nose wrinkling. "Smells like hundreds of sweaty people all crowded in close together. Do you have washing instructions for it?"
She glances to Merek then. "So what is this power, then, at Merkabeh? How are you planning on stopping it? What is it doing?"
Intent in getting some meaningful excercise in after all the dexterity practice today, a silvery figure emerges from the Fernwood on the hoof, a pack who's flap is left to gravity to keep secure is slung in the crook of her right elbow. Once out the door, the figure turns, splaying her leonine digits around the doorknob to try and close the door gently while her tails sway and flick to keep her upright.
Merek waves a bit to Brae, while he smiles, then looks to Acedia, "A kid ran away from the festival and was transformed by the magic there. There's a colossal dragon and now other kinds of powers that be working within the place."
"I think as a delicate." Cryosanthia suggests, which is hard to imagine. Anything that can survive being worn by a large scaly lizard for more than a few minutes is typically at least a quarter inch thick and made of leather. "It was handed to me. They were giving them out to the crowd. Which, you can smell on it. Perhaps don't wash it the colours might run, or use magic cleaning."
"Oh! Right, the list! Here" The sith makar pulls out a list from her pack as well, "I got Kaelyn to tell me, I wrote them down. In tradespeak."
Nels says to Acedia, "I was a goblin guy before I got changed." He gacks as Merek explains what happened, and hrms. "What can we do about it?"
Acedia's eyes go wide. "A... goblin child? Escaped? And got transformed by Merkabeh?" She offers everyone a wave. "Well, it was nice meeting you all. Alexandria was a good city, it was. Had her day in the sun. I've uhhhm... got a few things to go do, like right now. See you!" The Gobbo turns and starts to run off down the street.
The white sith snorts a little in amusement, watching Acedia run off. "That was me, last night." Although perhaps she was a more punchy version. The list is still in her hand. "Of course. It's like putting two same poles together."
Stuffing it in her pack, slinging that on her back she looks around and spots some silvery-ness, "Peace on your Nest, Braelnoir. Do you need help with that?" She gestures at the flapping flap on the backpack.
Nels watches Acedia scoot off, and she says, "I wonder what she knows that I don't know? No one tells me anthing," she grumbles, and will scoot off also, and maybe, hopefully, find out.
The back of Brae's left right hoof lifts a smidge as she pivots the knee in a fairly natural equivalent to turning on her heel at the hail, "Oh, hey every-" A blink, "W'sat Ace?" Hrm. She finishes her turn, opening her grip on the doorknob to wave, "And that new transmog." The chimera saunters over to the group and wonders, "So... what'd I miss...?"
The back of Brae's left right hoof lifts a smidge as she pivots the knee in a fairly natural equivalent to turning on her heel at the hail, "Oh, hey every-" A blink, "W'sat Ace?" Hrm. She finishes her turn, opening her grip on the doorknob to wave, "And that new transmog. The bag's fine fer now, luv, just carryin a couple of practice daggers." The chimera saunters over to the group and wonders, "So... what'd I miss...?"
Merek walks up to Brae while he offers a little hug, then he smiles to Cryosanthia and to any still about as well. "Ace... Is worried about the information which we learned."
"Shopping mostly," Cryosanthia tells Braelnoir, moving closer and looking her over. Nothing seems to have changed, which is good. She fears she'll be talking to Kaelyn, or Braelnoir, someone, someday, and their body will suddenly warp in front of her. Really not different from watching Iuitl change though. Cryo, you were talking to people. Oh right! "Some of the goblins are familiar with the prophesy, some aren't. The familiar ones... take it badly. Merek was discussing going into Merkabah, or making a dragonspitter for that woman, who was a goblin, who also left."
"Nez, or Nails, something like that. Yeah, we met last night." Brae returns to Cyro, giving a curious look as she is so intently gone over, though as Merek offers the hug, she accepts easily enough, lightly patting his back with her free paw and draws back a little to look between them, "Why do I feel like yer waitin' fer me t'sprout another arm?" she wonders with some suspicion.
Merek nods a bit between the two, "I am researching into ways to fight in the city, it is not a safe place. The Black-Tech is pretty amazing, and will probably be waiting for folk."
Cryo stands there, her tail slowly coiling back and forth behind her. "I've seen others sprout wings, or turn into swiftclaws, and I can do this." She waves her left hand, and it turns significantly more draconic and larger, complete with wicked claws.
"I've no idea if you have similar abilities, or the magic itself will decide, or if you stretch a certain way something will happen. Kaelyn changes in large and small amounts. Your current appearance is interesting, I will be sad when you change."
Thoughts on the subject of black-tech are bleak, though Brae's immediate filter is their potential tactical influence as she probably has a more pragmatic slant to her moral core, at least in some areas. She hmm's softly about to say some when Cryo starts to change. The preamble kept her from being outright startled, though concern is still there. The remark about her current form and transitioning from it, actually makes her look... uncertain.
"That's your bloodline, I think, probably pretty different," Merek mentions then to Cryo, with a nod to Brae.
Cryo's hand returns to normal. She turns her head, looking down at Merek before facing Braelnoir once more. "I'm aware Merek, that it comes from my bloodline. As Kaelyn has explained several times to me, Artifice duplicates sorcery and arcane and makes it easier to use. It also seems to make things that are wildly unsafe, unpredictable, and difficult to resolve, like those evolving transformation pegs. This one is only making the obvious conclusions, that the Black-Tech in Merkabah might have even worse surprises. I mean, it's unlikely we'll discover other weird facts about the transformations that have been striking people, but who knows? If Brealnoir got some of my blood on her, might the four pegs in her do something with it? She already resembles several creatures."
Braelnoir's tail twitches irritably and she looks away for a moment, before she returns her focus to the pair, "I haven't had any other changes. Well, aside from m'diet, anyway. I don't... puke when I eat veggies, but I... really want meat, lately. The knife an' fork thing is a bit too much for me at the moment, an' I'm... not fond o'being directly fed, so..." She cants her head, "Can I ask ya something Cryo?"
Merek looks between the two with a nod, while he seems to think about it, looking to the place. "I don't know, it's weird, finding tech like that."
"Of course." Cryosanthia bobs her head, eyes focused on Braelnoir's. Her tail slows its waving, to just hang.
"Silver scales... somethin' special?" Brae wonders curiously, "Ya snapped it last night 'efore ya decided ya wanted t'fight me." She holds up her forelimb and flexes the digits, "I never been a curseword before, so I's just wonderin'..."
"Yes. It's..." Cryosanthia blinks turns her head, raising her hand to shield her face. She doesn't blush, at least in not a recognizeable way. This might be a blush. She inhales. Adjusts her feet, rotating her heels in then out again, a little more at attention. "... Quite a strong one."
The white-scale makes a small swallow. "Our cursing is sometimes angry noises. Words are more to things that concern us. Egg-Snatchers, for example. Are usually small mammals that are good at sneaking and get into nests, or small lizards, and very annoying people get called that. Silver Scales, is... the Silver Empress. She is silver, with many scales. It is taking her name in vane. Those who oppose the Empress, which I don't. I do not. I still fondly remember when she laid eyes on me. But those who hate her will say that and more, such as 'Silver Scales tarnish and die'. It's a way of making her an object, saying she's an empty skin. I shouldn't be saying it, but that is why it's a curse."
Merek nods between the two, "The sith-makar are an interesting people," he says.
Braelnoir considers the whitescale for several moments, "So I'm a blasphemy, then... and a random squirt o'black-tech besides." There isn't a judging tone in her voice, nor inquisitive, she's intoning it as of explaining a new theory she's cracked. Her amber eyes flick to Merek on his observation and she nods some in turn, "Some hard bastards, but they got passion an'... zest, I guess's the word."
"Well, not you. I wasn't calling you the blasphemy. There are other sith with silver scales, it's considered quite beneficial. This one was angry that Merek teleported, and the choas one little gobber can cause, and what this change will mean. This is big enough the Silver Empress will choose a direction, those against the treaty, will throw themselves the other way. It's worrying." Cryosanthia explains awkwardly, looking away, her fingers intertwining with each other, "You are beautiful. I did not want to fight because of that."
Merek nods a bit between the two, while he seems to think about it. "You're both beautiful," that's his say on that, while he smiles a bit, looking like a lot is on his mind with the situation, though trying his best!
There is a slight scraping from the cobblestones as, now it's Brae's heel pivoting, her expression returning to that odd place for a moment and she looks to Merek a moment, "He'n I had this conversation 'couple days ago, but... we ain't had the chance, yet." With his imput, however she clears her throat and shifts her footing slightly with renwed vigor in her tails' movement. She has a slightly conflicted look in her eye, then, "I'ma need m'hands... but I... don't want t'change."
"Hands for... everything? Or some things?" Cryosanthia asks thoughtfully. She holds up hers, she is wearing gloves made of a white scaled leather that matches her own scales. She wriggles her fingers. Her Arcane Mark on the back of them glows a slight blue-white, then she points a rock across the way, makes a lifting motion it floats up and then comes over to her hand. "These don't work for weapons, but for picking up light things and opening latches, they are fine. It took me a while, the gestures aren't so necessary as much as the intention. Do you want to try them?"
Magic gloves, that apparently fit over her hands when they are clawed talons just fine.
"That looks useful," Merek says, while he nods a bit between the two, and nods also to Brae, "Whatever makes you pretty happy," he says, then he smiles as well to Cryo.
Braelnoir watches Cryo make her demonstration, arching an eyebrow, but with the explanations of their function, she looks to her paws again, "I've trained most o'my life t'use weapons, Cryo. Th'claws are... intense, but I can't even change clothes on m'own." Her paws fold across themselves as if she were suddenly aware of the cold and she shakes her head, "Who can dispell?
Cryo shakes her head, letting her hands drop down. "I can't. My magic is ... a challenge to use effectively. I understand, I would be lost if I couldn't speak. There might be ways to work around, but they won't be hands."
"I know the way to dispel magic through faith, though... I'm thinking, what if this is because it's not a spell, what if this is a special curse, or some magic like that?" Merek asks, "I could work a plan to examine and work on undoing that." A smile then to Cryo and Brae.
Braelnoir shrugs and shakes her head, "Naah, ferget it I'll..." She clams up and turns her eyes from Cryosanthia to Merek, "Whattaya mean? What sorta special curse?"
"Sith clothing is more durable than human. We might have something that works for you. Look..." Cryosanthia pulls her leather armour partially away from her body. It's thicker than human leather, and underneath is only her scales. No arming-shirt, padding, no slip. She's wearing it right on her 'skin', which would be very painful were a 'softskin' to do so since it is so rough. "Something which covers enough, simple straps. I can help you with your clothes."
Merek nods a bit between the two, "Getting used to what you have is important, but changing back with your hands might work as well. As for curse, I don't know, this just... Doesn't work like any magic I even know about, dispel magic tends to work on any magic."
Braelnoir considers the Sith's armor as she is given notice of those particular properties, "That fight we had before, that second guy caught me in the face with'at sap and I barely felt it. I wonder if mebbe these scales are already acting like armor." She turns to Merek, then, "Yeah, that's how I always understood it. It either worked or't didn't, it didn't double down." Back t'Cryo, "While I could giggle down th'street naked in th'cold and, assumin' I'm right, could ward off some weapons with my skin like this, I don't feel like bein' locked up and clothes just... start getting dirty after a while."
"It might. I can't compare. I know some things hurt me less than other sith. Clothes do get dirty. I got these gloves for that, they will clean anything, even under scales. I agree with Merek, when Dispell Magic works more like a Wand of Wonder, it seems necessary to get that artifact back. I'd be hesitant, in case you changed to be fully a beast, or limbless like a Lamia. How you are now, is good. This one would help, let me know how." Cryosanthia says earnestly. She was rambling and disorganized with her thoughts, but is concerned for Braelnoir, that is clear.
Merek looks between the two, while he seems to think about it, "If either of you need anything, remember I am willing to assist. Oh, that reminds me Brae, the noble is well and back," he says.
Braelnoir nods, "... yer right... least now, th'beast o-war can fight." she says with a shrug and a quirky grin. The mirth dies as if under a guillotine when the troublemaker from the other night is mentioned, and she turns to look Merek's way, "And... has he learned anythin?"
"I think not." The white-scale sith says, her tail flicking in annoyance. "He didn't even thank Merek. He fell straight to arguing with his siblings, which resisted him being brought back. They were all thrown out of the temple."
Merek looks between the two, "I plan to see what I can do about him, I brought him back myself, so... That's on me to figure what to do," he says, which apparently he can bring people back, Brae might not have known that. Fancy!
Braelnoir shakes her head, "He's definately gonna be trouble." she says softly, quietly resolving to empty his family coffers when he presents himself as such. Brae's head whips around to regard Merek as he goes into that, notable that her neck actually popped in a couple places, "Come again?"
"Merek, if you can make gloves, or armbands, or something, that will allow Braelnoir to hold weapons and put her clothes on, this will solve everything. This one has no idea what you can make, so this one asks if you know of some magic thing, like my cheating gloves, but better that accomplishes that." Cryosanthia says, shrugging her shoulders, "You hide your talents, seeming to bring them out as surprises. The noble seems like a waste of attention."
Merek looks then to Cryosanthia in thought, "I am pretty capable, but powers as mine must be used wisely," he says, he nods to Brae, "I can bring people back, yes. Not as well as some, but still." He does think about it, "I might be able to make a thing actually."
Merek does add, "I can bind even a few lesser celestials along with demons, if I chose to. If you want to know more on that." A little nod as well.
Braelnoir hm's. How does one respond to knowing someone you know has power over life and death? "I go in battle, lea'me down." she says simply, then looks to Cryo, "They a'chally make stuff like that?" says the woman who is under lamplight at present.
Toshio walks along, wings wrapped around him as he moves along. He stops when he sees Cryo and nods to the woman before turning to Merek. "You would bind the servants of the gods?" He asks curiously, studying the man as he opens his wings to reveal his outfit, it resembles a green fighting gi. "I just am good at hiting things." He says with a shrug. He then puts a fist in his hand and begins popping his knuckles.
"They might. I have seen armour, that Caim has, which folds up. Merek can change his cloak into various fashions. Is there nothing like this for her to wear as clothing Merek? For the weapons, I have seen gems turned to limbs, there is no way to give her a gloves of fingers?" Cryosanthia speculates, waving a hand in the air and rattling off some things she's seen. Then Merek discusses his power over celestials. She blinks, "Can you bind one to put a bathrobe on her? I can swim in the sea today and be fine. It does not lead to a solution for Braelnoir. How softskin minds think is fascinating, this one does not see how it relates."
Merek waves a bit to Toshio, then to Cryosanthia and Braelnoir, "I can make that garment for her, I could even let her use mine until hers is ready. I can make a shapechange relic likely," he says.
Braelnoir frowns a little an, "How much's that?" she wonders of Merek. She eyes the bird man and the knuckle cracking with some interest, then looks to Cryo, "I haven't tried holdin' my breath, but I haven't done a lotta swimmin' before."
Cryo nods to Toshio as he arrives, focusing on him cracking his knuckles. "I am Cryosanthia, a Speaker of the Sith Makar. Peace on your Nest."
The sith's attention comes back to Merek and Braelnoir. She's curious about the price too. She grins at the silver chimera, "It's fun. I like it. I can hold my breath a long time."
Klaus leaves the Fernwood with a full belly, walking along with his Guisarme like a tall walking staff as he takes in chill winter air.
"200 gold, if I make the item, it won't be full price," Merek mentions then to Brae, while he nods a bit to the woman thoughtfully as well, looking to Cryosanthia in thought, then to people.
"I am Toshio. I serve as the fist of Cernan the white, whom most folk call Gilead." He says as he bows to Cryosanthia and nods. "I am afraid I am new to this city. I was found by a monk and raised in the monastary where he lived. I was even named after him. He taught me how to fight." He says calmly. Toshio then turns to braelnoir. "I am afraid I am getting out of shape...do you know where one can train?"
Another Egalrin actually walks her way into the marketplace....keeping her wings close to her like a cloak, but she's fluffed up, like she's very uncomfortable here. "Ugh....cramped..." She complains before she spots the larger gathering...and a sith-makar. "Peace on your nest, Speaker." As if she recognizes a distant friend.
Braelnoir considers her forepaws for a moment then, "I'm not sure how well these'll work, but... the cold isn't an issue, so far. Mostly." She looks to the Elgarin as he makes himself known and, "Braelnoir. Nice t'meetcha." She seems to struggle with something internally for a moment or two, then, "Don't have much option, I-" the new hail from another Elgarin brings her attention that way and she finishes her original though, "-guess." Ah, "Hey!"
"Rr.. thank you. Peace on your nest." Cryosanthia addresses the newly arriving egalrin with a short nod of her head. Her attention turns back to Toshio. "Yes. This one does. The colloseum is to the west, that way. There is training there every day, every weather, perhaps night even. Many that would know places to stay. The Fernwood Pub, here, is decent, affordable. Perhaps not for long term."
"You have the coin for it Braelnoir?" Cryo gets her thought in.
Klaus looks around at the gathering outside the Fernwood, and wonders with a chuckle, "Anything interesting going on? Or just hanging out in the freezing cold for fun?"
Braelnoir shifts her hooves with a little scrape against the cobblestone and she looks around at all the congealing people, then glances back to Cryo, "I do, but I been tryin' not to spend too much 'fore my debt's cleared." She shrugs and looks to Merek again, "How long's that gonna take, luv?"
"If you don't, it's fine, you can use mine while we work on the new set," Merek says, while he nods a bit to Brae, lifting up his wrist bracers, "Up to you." He nods a bit to Cryosanthia, "I will need a look into what I am able to make for hands. Might be we can find a spell to fix only that as well."
"One day to make," Merek says.
Incoming fluff dragon! Yup, she's tried jumping off a small building, she glides a short way and FWUMP! Right into her wagon! The landing is sooo not stuck, as she just kind of droops there, wings hainging off the side of the cart, tail off the back head kind of lolling off the front... "That soooo wasn't hte best idea I have ever had..." She mutters, after wheezing for a bit...
Kae just lays there for now, for a bit as she watches one of her feathers, ok two of.. nope three are floating down from where she actually tried flapping those wings to gain altitude.... it soooo didn't work, obviously because well she's sprawled in the back of her wagon...
Kae sighs and blows one of the feathers up......
"A day? Wow." Cryo blinks. "Go for it Braelnoir, at a day I might get one too."
"I think we are hanging out in the freezing cold for fun. Amazing things happen if one hangs around, like that..." The white-sith says, as Kaelyn flies? glides? leaps? falls? by into a pile onto her wagon.
Braelnoir frowns in thought, then, smiling some to Merek, she holds her paws out to him, "We can settle up, late-!" THUDD!!!! The Chimera whirls on her hooves and stumbles a bit toward Cryo at the sound of Kaelyn's landing as her tailtips smack something or other, "Whoop-!!"
Masamya spares a glance to toshio before looking to Cryosanthia. "New to Mictlan, I believe, but I don't believe we've met before. I am Masamya, Wind-Bearer for the Hyatiento Aerie." She says as an introduction.
"I am more than happy to make you both a set," Merek says, while he offers a smile as well, "I think that's 120 gold per each," he then adds.
Kae raises her head up now and crosses her eyes at the feather resting at the end of her snout... "I'm sooo not trying that again, well wiithing the next hour.." She mutters to her self, then shes' giving everyone a big toothy grin! "Hallo folks!" She waggles a wing, her hands/paws forlegs may not be visible from where she is...
Cryo moves, putting a hand out to steady Braelnoir, ready to grab her if she slips, then decides it's simply easier to pre-emptively catch her. She wraps her arms around the chimera and digs her talons into the cobblestones. "Uff. Bye... whoever that was."
She turns her head almost all the way around so she can face Masamya, "I do not believe we have met either. Wind-Bearer, this one does not know the title, what is it?"
"Hello Kaelyn. Merek, let me think on it. This one needs armour that is not rent by demons."
Toshio looks to Masamya and nods. "I am Toshio. I am not from any aerie." He says as he folds his wings back infront of him and he watches the female egalrin. He then turns to Cryosanthia. "What is the mictlan?" He asks curiously.
Braelnoir looks a little embarassed about needing the catch, but, "Thanks, luv." she says before calling over to Kaelyn, "'ey, luv, 'ow ya doin?" Then it's back to the Elgarin amongst them, "Brae, nice t'meetcha."
"Wind Bearer is one that can calm the winds......or enrage them. Enraging the winds is difficult to do, but when it is....it's painful." Masamya says softly. "What's your name?" She says before looking to Toshio. "Likely not. Aeries are communities of Egalrin. Watching and protecting those under it's watch." She says softly before looking up....up....and gestures towards the top of the Redridge mountains. "And the Hyatiento Aerie watches Alexandria.....and more."
Merek looks between all of the people, then he nods a bit, and assists keeping Brae about, smiling, "Alright, we'll see about what we can do," he adds.
"I never grew up in an aerie. I was raised in a monastary dedicated to Gilead. It wasnt until a year ago did I visit an aerie and learned of my people." Toshio says as he watches the woman. "I was given a bolas from a friend of my family's and Taught how to use it but I dont know much of our culture." He says calmly as he watches everyone with golden eyes.
Cryo doesn't hold Braelnoir longer then necessary, carefully letting her go, leaving her arm available if she needs support. She is able to turn and better face Masamya and Toshio. She nods, listening to Masamya's explanation. "Those abilities sound powerful. I would understand you to be what we consider Shaman-caste? Are you here because of what happened last night in Merkabah?"
Toshio's question is also answered. "Mictlan is where the Sith-Makar close to Alexandria congregate. It's outside of the city. It is a protected space. Non-sith are generally not welcome, need an invitation. Those seem interesing weapons, I've never seen them before." Kae blinks a bit and finally hops off the wagon, it's much like a cat hopping off a couch, what with the way she moves... "I'm doing great Brae... cept for winding my self.." She says and grins a bit "I hopes to get the hang of these things before long." The latter is said as she unfolds then refolds her wings..
She then looks at the eagle folks curiously, and her ears prick forward as she turns her head sideways whilst listening....
Braelnoir smiles between her companions, gently patting Cryo and Merek on the arms before she slips around to trot over toward the fluffiness, muttering, "Mebbe ya got a coach, there, luv." to Kaelyn once she gets near enough, "Sure ya didn't hurt yerself none? Sounded like a rough landin'."
Merek looks about a bit, then he shifts that longcoat about his frame in thought. He does look a little bit tired, a little bit stressed, he nods then to Brae as well as Cryosanthia, then to Ka, Masamya, and Toshio.
"Maybe...instead of trying to fly, you should learn to glide." Masamya chastises Kaelyn after she recovers from her crash. "You can't run before you learn to walk, as they say. Even Egalrin don't learn to fly before they glide, and even then, there are some that don't fly. We all glide though."
She the looks to Cryosanthia. "The Hyatiento Aerie came to be right about the same time as Mictlan. So rather than separate ourselves from them.....we offered gifts to them. In the form of a dreamcatcher, that hangs over Mictlan to this very day." She looks to Toshio...then back to Cryosanthia. "We have heard only whispers. Do you know what has happened?"
Kae blinks and peeers at the Egalran... "Well I tried just locking wings out and balancing and stuff, and was loosing altitude like fast, and then I tried to flap, and it just got worse." She says and grins a bit, smiling cheerfully "I got turned into a dragon-like critter, I figure before I get my self cured, it might be fun making my self fly.... At least once..." She says and shrugs...
"Every race learns to walk before they can run. And from falling, they learn how to fall without being injured." Toshio says softly to Kaelyn before looking to Masamya. "Do you practice the various philosophies and martial arts?" He asks as he watches the other Egalrin. He then looks to Cryosanthia. "My body is a weapon. Why would I need a weapon when nature has armed me already?" He asks curiously.
"Because sometimes things sweat acid'r are on fire, luvvie." Brae chimes in with a shrug, then moves to rejoin Merek and Cryo.
Cryo watches Braelnoir examine Kaelyn, making a mental note. She should have checked.
She nods to Masamya, she's seen the dreamcatcher... she thinks. Her tail coils a little, and the white sith indicates herself, Merek and Kaelyn. "Yes, we saw. There are several details. The goblins are building an Airship, a large one of war, for Blar. They had a celebration, a concert to reveal it. During that, a goblin child escaped the enclave. There is a prophesy, which you will have to ask a gobber about, as I have only heard confusing versions. Should a goblin child escape the enclave it will break the world. One did. With a stolen artifact from Merkabah, that transformed him into a monster, that rose out of the city. Horns the size of towers. The earthquake happened at that time, as did the storm. It prowls the area still."
And an answer to Toshio as well, "I... don't know. I sing and dance." Cryo does a little 'shave and a hair cut' tap-dance, holding her hand out towards Merek for the 'two bits' part. She waits. Waits some more. Some more. "... and tell jokes. That was the joke."
GAME: Merek rolls perform/dance: (16)+9: 25
Merek looks curiously to Cryosanthia, then nods while he begins to dance as well, motioning back to the woman. "She's right, airship along with the ancient prophecy." He then begins to spin around next to the Sith-Makar, then he nods to Brae.
Toshio chuckles. "I practice martial arts. Unarmed combat. With it I can fight against any threat regardless of weapons." He says calmly as he watches the sith. He then offers a hand. "I can teach you if you desire."
"Mmmm.....Disturbing." Masamya then looks up towards the mountains. "I should tell the elders and consult with them." She then looks to Toshio. "You should come up to the Aerie as soon as you're able. We may need you." She then looks to Cryosanthia. "If you could warn Mictlan, perhaps they could help to." She starts to walk out of the marketplace. "I must go to tell the Elders. Thank you, Cryosanthia, for telling me. This is disturbing news."
Kae blinks a few times... "Prophesies are totes wieeerrrrd." She says and shrugs "But yeah, the kid like seemingly turned intoa horned war machine thing." she says and shrugs slowly... "Pretty wierd... He was also running around all coated in motor oil for a while too.... Soooooooo I'mma thinking the kid will go back to normals before long." She says and smiles.. "Giant war-mongering airships? That can be a bit of a problem, they're world changers in a way. Ultimate high ground, countries don't like seeing smaller groups with that kinda thing..."
"Sure. I'm curious." Cryosanthia takes Toshio's hand, shaking it.
She nods to Masamya, "This one is a speaker. Moving messages is what I do. The Mictland Elders are deciding a response. I will try to be the one if there are messages for the Aerie."
She watches Merek's dance, nods to Kaelyn's thoughts. "How long have you been transformed Kaelyn? It might be that long. Why do you think he will change back soon, the motor oil? Is that the antidote. Why would he be covered in oil from stealing the artifact, or blueprints, or whatever it was. Are their engines powered by transformation devices. Do you think the one you lost might be in one of the other engines?"
Toshio nods to Masamya. "I go where I am needed." He says calmly as he watches the female before turning to the sith. He would smile if he didnt have a beak. He then nods to the sith and shakes her hand. He then turns to Masamya. "So you are in charge of the aerie?" He asks curiously of the female egalrin.
"Thank you, Speaker. I will see you soon then." Masamya looks to Toshio. "No. I am the Wind Bearer. The elders are in charge of the Aerie. Not me. the Elders are much older than me." She says as she continues her walk. "See you all soon. Toshio, if you wish to learn more, come to the Aerie. I do not know of any martial arts traditions, so you may be unique in the Aerie, which will draw the attention of the chicks. be patient with them." She then waves her hand and she begins the long walk up to the Aerie.
Braelnoir watches Merek's dance for a few moments in response to Cryo's, though as the heavy talk is outside of her personal experience, she stays quiet and folds her arms, considering something.
"Peace on your nest, Merek. Yours also Toshio" Cryosanthia says, making a small wave with her hand.
She moves over to Braelnoir, looks at her, touches her shoulder briefly then holds her paws in her hand. The edges of her mouth curl up and she winks an eyelid quickly, "Be safe, Not-a-Monster, this one will find you soon. I have to return to Mictlan. Come see me there if you wish. I shall ask the Shamans and Warriors about hands."
"Kaelyn, you should build a nest, you are feathery enough. Peace on your Nest, whether you do or not."
The palescale heads out.
Kae tilts her head curiously.. "Uuuusually, spells that big and powerful don't last long...." She then blinks at the mention of building a nest... "Ummmm what? Why would.." She peeerrrrs at the white scale now curiously, squiiiiint! "That was a joke right?"
"It was! This one tells jokes! Bad ones." Cryosanthia calls, walking away with a swish of her tail.
Braelnoir smiles thoughtfully to Cryo, "See you soon, Cryo, take care, now." and with that she lets the Sith off to her responsibilities before looking to Kaelyn, "So... a nest, huh?"
Stjepan strides down the street, moving quickly enough through the night in the general direction of the Fernwood. A bundle is tucked under one arm, and he's got a happy bounce to his step.
Kae blinks as she sees Cryo wander off, then peeerrrs at Brae "Nope, no nests, not even a hoard or anything like that..." She says and rubs her neck now... "Though, I got me a stipend of like 9500 gold the other day, I don't remember what for!" She says and smiles cheerfully... "I'mma thinking I'll buy something fun..."
Braelnoir nods and reaches up to pat-pat Kae's shoulder with a paw, "Sounds like a helluva haul, luv. Imagine that'd buy ya parts fer a lotta interestin' toys." She sees the Jotun making his way along and she considers him curiously a moment before she turns back to Kae, "Mebbe I should get some shuteye. Gonna try an' hit the Colloseum at first light, see how well I can wrangle these claws. Keep safe, luv, ok?"
Kae ooohs and nods at Brae... "Okie!!! And yeah, it'll help out looots, I allready had about 800 plat, so put the two together and I can get me something shiny!!" she says happily....
Stjepan crunches through the snow -- a floofy feathery dragon thingie and something clawed. It's worth a second look, even here. He waves in Kaelyn's general direction, then secures his package, brushing the snow off as he goes.
Merek hugs Brae, with a little wave!
Braelnoir returns Merek's hug, then winks to Kaelyn, "I bet!" With that, she turns and clops steadily into the Fernwood, giving an amicable enough nod to the big man on her way to the door. Her forepaw splays and, with only slight difficulty, the silvery chimera gets the door open and she steps on in.
Kae blinks and lokos to Stjepan... She waves a clawed hand... Kae's changed again, instead she's a sleek, furry and feathery dragon of some kind? though she does seem to have hands, they're just bigger, longer and have claws. "Hallo!" She greets, then looks back at Brae... She waves cheerfully "Have fun!"
Stjepan waves, pausing. "You have wings now." Realization stops him dead.
Kae sits back on her hind legs "Yus, though not a taur no more, just a normal draconic critter!" She says and then blinks... "NOt that normal really fits me.." She says and shrugs....
Stjepan pauses for a moment, considering. "Is your form stable now?" He just kinda rolls with it.
Kae shrugs "Well sooo long as folk don't overload me with magic stuffs, I'm good." She says and smiles a bit.. "Anyhoos I'mma have a cure here maybe in a few days, sooo, way I figure, when I'm not working on cures, I'd try to learn and enjoy the shape."
Stjepan nods slowly. "That makes sense -- do you have control over it at all?" He gestures. "Did you make the wings and the fur?"
Kae shrugs "I just kinda changed into this whole thing when someone kept casting spells on top of whatever it is holding me changed, and things scrambled... Buuut I can move everything well, wings, tail feet claws, neck, ears, everythiing that's supposed to move moves and I can exert control over it, so all is well." She says and beams.
Stjepan pauses. "How much control?" He squints a little. "That just sounds like a mess. I hope you thanked the spellcaster appropriately."
Kae blinks "Tried to get away from her so she wouldn't keep hitting me with those spells... I mean, shortly after i got away, I was litterally as tall as the Fernwood!" She says and umms "That was on all 4's not eve trying to walk on my back legs!" She says and siiiighs... "Anyhoo I'm more reasonably sized, and I'm fine with this till I can get it cured." She adds then blinks and realizes time... "Eeeef, I gotta go grab my 40 winks for tonight.... See ya laters!"
And the market goes on.
Dramatis Personae
Azog
Azog is a monstrous orc, seven feet tall and massively built, with a youthful but careworn face. He has darkly tanned skin and black hair, shaved except for a topknot braided and hanging down his back. His shoulders are huge, and he has a barrel chest that tells of great strength. His abs are rock hard, and his hips solid, leading down into tree-trunk legs, though they're a bit bowed, characteristic of someone who spends a lot of time in the saddle.
Over full plate armor is a heavy leather winter garb consisting of layers of leather. The innermost has some slightly fancy tooling in geometric patterns, and is dyed a medium green. Over that is an overcoat of very dark green, with heavy shoulders covered with leather scales, likewise dyed dark green. The coat hangs down to his knees, and below his waist, the layers of heavy leather over the lighter continue. Heavy, knee-high boots are dyed black, but they blend with the dark green of leggings that are bloused at the knees. A red sash circles his waist, and a sword belt secures that in place. At his waist, on the left side, sits a bastard sword in a fine scabbard. Across his back is a heavy shield, obscuring his backpack. Over his right shoulder is the head of a massive adamantine earthbreaker.
Charlotte
Standing 6' tall, this human lady has long blonde hair which goes down to her mid-back, is usually worn free, worn in an elaborate braid, or kept up in a ponytail. Some of her hair frames her large blue eyes, high cheekbones and angular face completed by pink lips.
She has a curvy body, but her clothes are as much stylish as they are practical. She wears a blue long coat with a high collar that covers her neck, but it folds down onto her shoulders, with a blue button up shirt underneath. The coat typically remains against her with a few chains across her abdomen, with a long back that goes to the backs of her knees. The coat also has long sleeves, when they aren't covered by metal armored sleeves, with a left hand gauntlet, the right hand remaining bare. Around her waist, over top of the coat, she wears a black leather belt, made for the specific purpose of carrying her basket-hilted rapier at her left hip. The rapier has a hand guard that completely covers her right hand when she draws it, and is quite light for her, plus it has a beautifully decorated scabbard, made of the same material as her arm protectors. She has toned arms and slender, dexterous fingers as well. She wears a pair of black pants that seem to be made specifically for her, and her freedom of movement. Her typical wear is a pair of pair of knee length metallic greaves to protect her legs when she is in combat, but outside of combat, she can be seen wearing a pair of black knee length boots, both with a slight heel to them, both with knee guards.
Cryosanthia
Cryosanthia is a tall, lithe lizardgirl with flamboyant mannerisms and a flashy style. Her scales are a bright, snow white, complimented by her frills and keratin-scale 'hair' which are the pale blue found in glacial ice. This gleaming tapestry is marred by dark tattoos gouged in her hide, green-black in colouration, which at times have a dark glow. Her snout is long and tapers elegantly. Her legs and tail are likewise graceful, despite being a significant portion of her size and mass. She seems light on her talons and energetic, head glancing quick from side to side. Her eyes are bright and like her frills, the palest of blues with a dramatic slit pupil.
Cryosanthia's clothes are a simple kit of kilted leather armour in white. It is close fitting enough to seem a part of her, but it lacks the lustre of her scales having instead a dull finish. She has sandals that leave her talons free, as well as a hat that is hanging to the back as often as it is on her head. A long blue feather is tucked into the woven band. Finally, she wears a cloak, likewise fashioned from white leather but with a satin interior that matches her eyes. It gleams when the light catches it right. Belted to her hip she has a rapier, a couple of pouches, and a tiny bag on a thong around her long neck.
Iskandar
Iskandar the Giantborn stands nearly seven feet tall. His physique is classically heroic, with swarthy skin on his bared legs and arms. He wears open-faced headgear made of bronze that protects his forehead and cheeks, keeping his curly black hair out of his eyes and hiding just where his short dark beard begins.
The remainder of his panoply appears expensive and well-crafted. A dull bronze cuirass covers his torso, sculpted with muscles. A short pleated kilt of leather and steel hangs to mid-thigh, and he wears bronze greaves to protect his lower legs along with sandals. Iskandar's forearms are encased in leather bracers overlaid with form-fitting bronze plates that appear scuffed and subtly dented - likely from warding off blows.
At his belt is sheathed a heavy dagger - sized for his great height it's practically a shortsword. On his opposite hip is a strung shortbow in a half-case, along with a handful of arrows.
Kaelyn
A very odd sight. It seems this creature is some kind of dragon? She's long, and slender, maybe 13 feet long overall, nose tip to tail tip. If she were to sit fully upright on her hind legs, she'd probably be 8 feet tall to the top of her horns... A big chunk of her length is in her tail, it being slightly longer, including the feathery tuft in at the tip than the rest of her.
She's covered in pearlescent fur, this covers her muzzle, all the way to the end of her tail, with a coral/rust red mane and well belly scutes from the start of her neck all the way to mid way down her tail...
Her sleek fur-covered muzzle is long, slender, really vaguely horse like in some ways, but still very much so belonging to a dragon. There are a couple tendril-like thick whiskers from the bottom of her chin, as well as other finer whiskers on her muzzle, that might help with feeling air flow... Brilliant, slightly luminescent slitted blue eyes look out from furred heavy ridged forehead as it were, and above that a pair of black, spiraled backswept horns leaps out from her head... Between those horns floats a coral red mane, this mane goes the whole length of her body. Below the horns? Well she has white furred ears, these having a blue and purle tufts at their tips... And behind the horns is a minor crest that is feathered and blends in with that mane.
Her neck is long, and slender, very elegant, and her body is lithe, very cat-like, much like many dragons, though she doesn't seem to be a giant mass of bone and musle... She has 4 legs and a pair of wings, her back legs are what one might expect, 4 toed, with a dew claw and heavy talons tipping the end of those back paws, her muscles are probably heaviest there, or seemingly heaviest there... the tops of her feet, and toes are scaled with overlapping scutes, these being blue in color, with fur on the very back of the paws, and large paw-pads over the toes.
Her forepaws? These are different, they work fine for her normal quadropedal form of locomotion, but she can walk, slowly on her back legs, and use her forelegs as hands. Even iff the digits end in a retractable claw and are just slightly thicker than what one might expect... Still they're incredibly nimble.
Her wings? Well they're not webbed, nope, they're huge, and feathery... The lead joint having a couple fingers with claws terminating them like one might expect, but the rest? Well, it's plumed, the leading plumage, for about a third of the wing is white, pearlescent white feathers, leading to blue secondary flight feathers, all in a long row, the length of her wing, and her primaries are an pearlescent purple in color. The very tips of her wings are the same rust red as her mane and belly scutes...
Finally the tail? Well that really acounts for the majority of her length.. Meaning she 's long, but not really huge nor heavy for her overall length. Really she's the weight of a small horse... Back to her tail, it's long, slender, whipplike in some ways, with that same white fur on it and the red mane like long hair. This terminates in a big tuft of fur and feathers at its very end which might aid in flight? There's also a tuft of feathers on either side of the base of her tail that is probably spread and used when she's in flight as some kind of stabilizer.
All and all, she'd be quite majestic as a very small breed of dragon, if well, she's cute.. Adorable maybe, her face is hugely expressionate, she doesn't even radiate any of the preadatory vibe one might expect of her species...
Lastly she wear a harness with pouches, bags and such, and a pair of gun hoslters each holding a dragon spitter, which she can actually grab and use in those odd hands of hers.
Mae
A tall elf, outside of the normal even, she's thin with pale-skin that's bordering on the color of a bleached parchment. Her ears are very obviously pointed, and she has a pair of obviously very pointed incissors that look more like those that belong on a hobgoblin than an elf. Her eyes are a distinctly golden color. She frequently will wear a pair of large, gold, disc-shaped earrings. Her hair is long, thick, and wild. Long bangs and a fringe that's swept back to reveal a sharp widows peak. A graying white in color, it ends near the back of her knees.
A sleeveless, maroon, dress that has a jagged bottom hem runs down to ankle-level on one side, and knee-length on the other. A further tear runs up the knee-length side. The cloth is two colors, a red predominantly with accents of maroon along hem-lines. The dress ends in a high-collar that stops half-way up her neck. Half-boots with a platform heel adorn her feet.
Shin
This young man looks to have the distinct bearing of someone who might have been a soldier. Surprisingly short, well built, and very much a man who seems to value his strength of arm as much as those of cunning. His hair is an ebony black, pulled up into a tail that reaches mid-neck normally to leave his ears and forehead bare. Holding his hair back is marked by a distinctive holder-like clasp. It is designed with some sort of lion or tiger roaring with a silver moon over the head of the large cat. Both eyes are a calming blue-green in color with a look to them that speaks of hardship but the light of hope at what he can do.
The most noticeable thing about him is that his armor that is definitely not of local make. The armor appears to be some sort of metal plates connected somehow underneath. While still looking to be steel, the armor's distinctiveness is that it looks to be one interconnected, if lightweight piece of work being that it slightly restricts movement even so. The shoulder pieces in particular seem to be one large plate simply strapped in, while the more noticeable gauntlets look to be some sort of cat's head in a tough, distinctly silvery metallic relief. A simple cloth sash goes around his waist, holding a leather satchel at his side by a second, lower hanging belt. Over all this is worn a cloak of a red with silver in the lining. Underneath the armor looks to be a set of simple cloth to keep it from the skin, with the arms left bare for the odd gauntlets.
Lastly, the man is armed with weapons that fit his rather unusual style of armor. The most noticeable besides the gauntlets is the apparent glaive he keeps at hand. More of an ornate blade on a stick, the fine piece of craftsmanship is around seven feet in length with a tassel of fur along the base of the long, curved blade. Next is the bow that appears to be made of more than just wood that is kept across his back, complete with a quiver of arrows on the opposite shoulder. The last weapon he has is a sword with an odd green tint to the metal pommel, cloth wrapping under it. The shape of the blade from the scabbard resting on his back is definitely a two handed, curved weapon rather than the typical straight design.
Most astonishing is that the man is also accompanied by a large tiger most of the time. The strange companion to the man is roughly at least a good six or seven feet in length, with a standing height at least at the rather short man's waist. The fur is a white with black stripes on it. It wears over this a set of armor that protects mainly the torso area in the brown of leather. The tail is left free, and the neck has what looks like some cloth wrapped around it that forms into a bow tie on the back of the neck. The feet are left bare, and what looks like a small saddle is set on it.
Toshio
The egalrin before you stands at about six foot and a half. He has massive brown wings and brown body, with a white head. He has golden eyes and he is built for strength and dexterity. He carries his wings folded over him like a big feather cloak.
HE wears a green gi with a brown undershirt. His belt contained multiple pouches and he wears wrapped cloth on his hands. He is barefoot and carries a pack
Nels
This person definitely does not look like a male goblin, aged 20. In fact /she/ looks like a young human woman, aged 20, with long black hair gathered into twintails past her waist. The twintails are tied with red ribbons, and she has a fancy cloth headdress, black with orange frills and lacing, atop her head. It doesn't really keep her hair out of her face, it's just there. Her figure is wiry, agile and quick, generally with sleek movements, which turn awkward occasionally. Her most notable feature, though, are her eyes. Heterochromatic, one is orange-red, like fire, and the other is burnished gold.
She is currently wearing a floor-length dress, styled like a ball gown, of orange satin that matches her eye, trimmed with black stripes around the skirts and up the bodice, and black lace everywhere. An orange satin sash around her waist has more black frills edging it, and is tied in a bow. Her upper arms are bare, but her forearms are adorned with faux-sleeves with red-orange trim, and laces, tied in bows at her elbows. Her feet, when they can be seen under her skirts, are in dark leather platform boots.
Klaus
Klaus is a large Deanei human, 6'3" and thickset, with sandy blond hair worn shaggy on top and hanging back over his shoulders. His square jaw is concealed behind a thick beard, which is cut short beneath his chin. He's got very broad shoulders, and a thick chest with muscles on his muscles, as many Dranei do. His waist is stout, and lean. No chance at thin, with his build, but athletic. His legs are tree trunks, reaching, well, from waist to ground. The greater wonder is there's no bark on them.
He's wearing a well-made steel breastplate across his broad chest, and a steel cap with iron studs in the rim crowns his unruly hair. Broad shoulders and barrel chest swell the breastplate, which has a bit of fancywork on it. His pants are sturdy brown leather, tucked into leather cavalry boots with steel toecaps and embroidery along the tops. The sleeves of a buff-colored coat protrude from the breastplate, and fighting gloves cover his hands. He wears a thick leather belt on which various pouches hang, and there's a pack on his back, on which are strapped a battle axe and a heavy steel shield.
Masamya
Standing 5'10" tall, this is definitely one of the noble Egalrin race. With brown feathers covering most of it's body, there's also very light brown feathers upon it's chest. Both it's arms and legs have the traditional bird-like lower part, with the fingers being three and a thumb. the wings are the same color as the body as well.
