MEETUP: Dream Sharing

From Tenebrae
Jump to navigation Jump to search
EVENT DESCRIPTION: In recognition of Sky Dancer's Song, Eluna's temple will be open all night to all who seek insight and contemplation. Seers, Silver Guards, and lay ministers will be guiding groups in meditation, prayer and discussion. Gather around the Pool of Serenity to share stories of dreams and the insights they bring.
As always, bathing in the Pool of Serenity is not permitted.
Why we have to keep _telling_ you people that, we do not know.

SUMMARY: Among the Elunites gathered are Ga'Elian and Astaren. Yelrona also checks the event out, perhaps out of nostalgia for her days in an Elunite Temple? Who can say? Elian holds the Temple enthralled with his account of a vision of the Destruction of the Elder Tree.

Elunites are gathering around the pool in the center of the temple, forming a number of small clusters. The room is filled with the murmur of light conversation.

Ga'Elian stands inverted, his body perfectly balanced upon both hands. The elf hums a soft monotone like he is trying to harmonize to the tune of Ea's own soul.

Astaren is sitting in a corner offering a long yawn, clearly having just woken up. He glances around, "oh yea, that time. I am obligated to be here right?" grumbling a moment as he pulls out a notebook to review his notes.

An emaciated-looking human man wearing Seer's robes sits, cross-legged, not far from Astaren, breathing slowly. Or possibly snoring. Hard to say.

Anyway, his attention is caught by Astaren's comment and he seems to come to a more full awareness of his surroundings. "Ah, yes. The Sky Dancer Contemplation. Right. Well, then. As you all know, of course, Eluna is the Keeper of Dreams, and it is this aspect of her that we celebrate today. Does anyone have any dreams they'd like to share?"

Ga'Elian lowers himself very, very slowly, keeping his body as straight as a plank until he is horizontal, then he steps down and raises up into a proper stand. He says, "In my trance, a vision did come to my mind. I saw a cave in the mountainside, black and dank, dripping with water that stained the walls with mineral hues. When I ventured to the cave's mouth to look inside, I saw a pit, as it had been carefully and expertly dug. 'Twas in form a precise circle in the floor of the cave, and when I looked, I saw thirteen stars arise from the pit abd cast their light throughout ghe cave..."

Astaren takes some notes as he considers and takes some more notes, 'do go on, interesting imagry there." tapping his chin thoughtfully

Several blue-robed acolytes seem entranced by Ga'Elian's description. Or possibly his meditative poses, it's hard to say. "Thirteen stars," one of them gasps, "like in the Dream of Akiva's Burrito!" The others nod excitedly.

Yelrona enters the Temple, looking decidedly out of place, and slides along the back wall, avoiding the crowd.

Ga'Elian raises his eyebrow at the acolyte's remark, then takes a drink of mead. He sets the mug down and goes on.

The stars' light sparkled on the wetness of the mineral trails, then the water gathered into a pool before me. The water shone as though the water itself was suffused with starlight. It began to trickle toward the edge of the pit. As the water drained into the pit, a tree arose from the pit, a Tree of silvery light. The darkness of the cave then became the darkness of the night sky, and the thirteen stars begun to spin together into a bright, shining disc. Indeed, it was not long before the disc became the full moon, radiant with silvery light. Then emerging from between the branches of the Tree there were hosts of Sildanyar. They rejoiced in the moon's fair light and nourished the Tree with dance and song..."

One of the acolytes, listening raptly to Elian's discussion of the water trickling and draining, suddenly looks uncomfortable. With an air of embarrassment, he gets to his feet and heads to the bathroom.

Astaren continues to listen, but offers no further commentary. He glances to the Acolyte and shakes his head.

Yelrona finds an empty mat and sits down, her garb changing into something similar to what everyone else is wearing, and she listens to Elian's dream. She's not sitting far from Astaren, as it turns out, and she whispers to him "So what do you think it means?"

Several older Elunites sitting nearby shush Rona.

Ga'Elian goes on, "The earth then trembled beneath my feet. A crack ruptured the ground a way's off from the Tree and widened until the crack became a fissure. It glowed from beneath with blood-red flames. Then a massive demon climbed up from the flames and wielded a great guisarme and wrought Endless Disaster upon the living Tree."

Astaren glances to Yelrona, "The one thing I have learned about dreams, is the more you try to understand them the more you realize you get wrong." winking to Yelrona, and then giving the Acoyltes that look of "I out rank you"

Many acolytes are now listening carefully, wide-eyed. Some are taking notes. Many are whispering excitedly to one another, while others shush them.

GAME: Yelrona rolls knowledge/religion: (3)+7: 10

Yelrona tilts her head to one side. This sounds vaguely familiar, but she can't tell why.

Ga'Elian merely says. "The vision closed, and I was left alone to mourn the breaking of the elder Tree. Yet the lore of my race tells how that those ancestors collected the scattered seeds of Ygdrassil and came into this ream of mortality leaving behind their fae natures to become mortal elves. Nevertheless, as they had preserved the seeds of the Tree of life, their own lives were granted the grace of long years. The ancient ones spread throughout the circles of Ea and sowed them, nourishing them until they grew into the several saplings that to this day are warded by the Sylvanori and the Ygdrassil Union." He sits down and pulls the hood of his cloak over his head.

Yelrona nods in recognition. Ah, yes, of course, _that's_ why it sounded familiar!
