Herbs and Hunters
A06: The Verdant Earth
It's Korday, Bernfleur 05 00:07:29 1020. The full moon is up. The tide is high and slack. A cool breeze blows from the west, driving dark clouds before it which blot out the stars in patches overhead. Elsewhere they glitter brightly in the dark sapphire sky.
Kaydin had arrived at the herb shop and started to look around. He looks to the various herbs which seemed familiar to him and pays some money for a bundle before looking to some foreign herbs and sniffs them. He then looks around to see if anyone was present to tell him what type of herb it was.
Ga'Elian opens the door and steps in. He pauses to allow the olfactory assault to wash over him. Once he reasserts his composure, he sees the half-sil and says, "Hello, Kaydin. Imagine meeting you here." He walks over to take a seat in the overstuffed armchair.
"I was told of this place and I wanted to check it out. I have seen the herb shop in the forest bringing samples from the wilderness." Kaydin says as he pays for his herbs and begins to gather his satchel. "So what brings you here? Do you own the store?" He asks curiously.
Ga'Elian laughs, "Me? Are you joking? Not hardly. It wouldn't be my nature to put down roots like a shop, and certainly not in the City. No, I came here to consult with the owner about some business."
"I figured an elf of your age would have a business so you can adventure in your spare time." Kaydin says as he smiles and he looks to Ga'Elian. "Got any tips on what sort of herbs to get? I got basic healing herbs and seasonings for when I cook." He says calmly as he watches the elven man.

Ga'Elian looks at the half-sil. "An elf of my age? I'm only 118, barely an adult. And adventuring is sufficiently lucrative all on its own. Still, I have many things to fill my time in between while still allowing me the freedom to come and go as I please. As for a recommendation on herbs, I think that depends on what you want them for."
"My mom is like four hundred or something. She makes up random numbers when asked her age so relying on her is next to impossible." Kaydin says as he looks to the herbs. "Well I would like some herbs to use in healing. I keep healing herbs on me in the event I find someone injured in the wilderness." Kaydin says as he looks to his satchel. "It isnt much but it is why I like to heal. to help others." He says calmly.
Ga'Elian stands up and walks over to a display case. He says, "Well, aloe is useful for burns, willow leaves help with pain, tea leaves help with a great many symptoms, especially calming anxious patients."
"My tea making is lousy." Kaydin says softly and chuckles. "Mom says I dont have the patience to make her tea properly. She said it wasnt anything personal, but to her humans make lousy tea." Kaydin says as he nods to the man. "So got any adventures planned? Maybe I can come with you and help you out."
Ga'Elian smiles. "Adventures tend to find me, rather than my seeking them. Still, I'd welcome you to join me patrolling sometime, and the offer to hunt together stands. Besides, you haven't met my steed yet. I could take you for a flight and show you a view of the forest, the farmlands, the mountains, the coastline, the City... all from above. It will change the way you see the world."
"That does sound nice." Kaydin says as he watches the man. "So your steed is it somesort of dragon or bird?" He asks curiously as he watches the man. He then moves to the counter and pays for the herbs he had collected and nods. "I would love to go hunting with you sometimes. I like to track the undead and kill them." He says calmly.
Ga'Elian smiles, and turns back to the armchair. He says, "He's a griffon. Although, I'd be glad to introduce you to another friend of mine named Sparklewing. He's a dragon, well, a fairy dragon." He sits. "There is a group I've heard of called the Hunters of the Dead. Are you affiliated with them? I have focused my hunting skills on undead as well, as well as giants, magical beasts, and especially demons."
"I havent heard of them. I would like to meet them and do what I can to help." Kaydin says as he watches the elf. He then looks. A bird flies into the shop and lands on Kaydin's arm. He unwraps the letter on it's leg and he reads it. "I need to head back to the woods to deliver these herbs to mom." He says as he watches the elf. "I hope to meet your friends." He says with a smile.
Ga'Elian waves as Kaydin heads out.
