It is just around midnight when chaos suddenly comes to the city. There is screams all around, "Fire, fire!" A large house has caught fire and the fire is already spreading to other near by homes. People run about getting buckets filled with water to try to put out.

Nicolai comes pounding down the street still smelling faintly of alcohol. His customary glaive is nowhere to be seen. "Fire?!" he bellows. "This isn't good! Fire in a city like this can spread anywhere!" He stops one of the people headed back with an empty bucket. "You there, hold it straight..."

From another street comes a similarly alcohol-smelling half-oruch woman. The greenskin takes Nicolai's lead, but instead moves to Create Water right in the flames. "What's going on here? How did this happen?" she bellows to no one and everyone.

"Eh? What?" Smythly's overly large green ears are twitching and he's rushing in that direction. Fire! This is terrible! "Do not fear! I am here to assist you!" He's immediately tryinf to see if actual /people/ need help.

When Orion arrives he goes to one of the people and ask, "Did every one make it out of their homes?" He looks to the first house that is on fire to see if any one is yelling for help.

Cressida approaches the burning building at a slow jog, looking around a bit to try to take stock of the situation. "Is everyone out of the building? Putting it out is important, but we want to get everyone out, too."

The silhouette of several people can be seen moving around inside of the house. One of which runs towards a window on the second story of the building and suddenly jumps through it, smashing the window as he jumps. He is on flames but as he stands up you can see all his flesh is already burnt away and his eyes glow red. Then the front door bursts open and two skeletons stumble out the door, and a second flaming skeleton comes running out just behind them, then another flaming skeleton bursts out of another window. Several of the people working on putting out the fire scream as they start to flee.

Before anyone can even react to the appearance of the skeletons two of them hiss and charge forward, attacking Nicolai and Orion but they miss their attacks.

"This escalated quickly!" Uraug shouts, and then whips her hand out, causing a great swatch of ground to come alive, grabbing and grasping at the skeletons'.

Nicolai looks momentarily startled by the appearance of the first flaming skeleton. He reaches for his holy symbol...but his other hand raises, reaching out. "Hold still! Tarien's power will heal you if you just hold--ah, never mind," he finishes, finally realizing that these are already beyond healing. His customary grin reappears and he prepares to release the divine power anyway, but he's interrupted by one of the normal skeletons charging at him. Nicolai draws his shortsword and tries to stab, but can't penetrate it's defenses.

The other skeletons begin to move forward, one swinging a sword at Orion and another at Smythly. They miss, though people can start to feel the heat coming off the skeletons that continue to burn.

Orion is caught off guard by the sudden attack, when he counter attacks he takes his greatsword and points it at the Flaming Skeleton saying to it, "You!" He now calls upon the aid of his god, yet even with the aid he is not able to hit it.

Cressida is a bit stunned by the sudden appearance of the skeletons. It takes her a moment to react, but it's clear these things need to be contained. With a few quick words, she fires a searing ray at one of the skeletons that isn't actively burning, hitting its skull and burning it well enough to cause it to collapse to the ground.

Smyhtly's hammer takes on a great fiery glow of it's own. "Where did these things come from?" He frowns, then immediately lunges towards the one that's closest to him and he smashes his hammer into it, though to no real effect. It's a skeleton. On fire.

One of the skeletons faces Orion down and hits him with his flaming sword, which has caught fire as well. The flames coming off him are so hot some of it even burns through Orions tough hide, though the sword hurts more.

Having entangled three of the skeletons fairly effectively, Uraug dashes over to help deal with the burning one. Keeping her distance, she reaches out again, causing water to spring from nothing, raining down directly over the burning skeleton. There's a lot of hissing, but not much else.

Another skeleton makes a swing at Orion and misses, another gets a bunch of water dumped over it's head and the flames die out, at least for a short bit of time.

Nicolai hesitates as the skeleton he'd been fighting is suddenly blasted to bits. He glances back, spots Cressida, and then raises his sword in salute. By the time he's turned back to the fighting Orion is surrounded, and from the looks of it getting worn down. Nicolai hurries to assist him, but instead of using his sword he raises his other hand and brandishes his holy symbol, then sends out a wave of positive energy to counter the dark power fueling the skeletons.

Orion is able to shrug off most of the fire damage done to him, he decides to go with a basic attack rather then a power attack to hit the fire skeleton. His sword does not strike the skeleton hard but with the attack augmented by holy power from his god he is still able to kill it.

As the skeleton dies flaming bits of bone spray all over the place, covering the area around him in flames, including burning at Nicolai.

From the western edge of the street, Drisdane is plodding along, his mule in tow. The fire catches his eye, but the undead bring him pause. He drops the ropes of his trusted mule and enters the melee without a second thought, guisarme in hand. His buckler has the symbol of a cracked globe upon it -- as he raises it in the air, he narrows his eyes and forcefully calls out a few strange words into the air.

Cressida turns her attention to the collection of skeletons around Orion. One of them isn't actively on fire, so she incants again, but a sudden pop and spark of the burning building distracts her, throwing her aim off and the ray simply hits the burning building. Not like it can be more on fire, though.

Seeing that her immediate help might be of more use to Smythly at least, Uraug rushes forward with her scimitar and shield. She takes a swipe at the skeleton pinned between them, but she misses!

The skeletons keep up their attacks, swiping at people with their swords. They move fairly quickly and fight almost like trained warriors, keeping their defenses high as they fight.

Apparently, fighting flaming skeleton with an earthbreaker is hader than thought. He move to one side to give his companions a bit of room to maneuver against his target, but he's still unable to land an effective strike.

Nicolai nods in satisfaction as Orion finishes off a skeleton. The the 'priest' flinches back as bits of burning skeleton singe him from the resulting explosion. He raises his symbol, ready to release another burst of divine energy...then slow, seeing the two skeletons next to Orion and the one between two other allies. If he manages to destroy them all, they could do just as much damage to his friends. "Watch out, they blow up when they die!" he warns, and then goes to attack another of the flaming skeletons the old fasioned way. With his sword.

Orion is starting to feel a bit worn down, he is able to slash the fire skeleton for a little bit of damage he misses on his cleave attack of the other skeleton. After attacking he lays upon hands himself healing himself up a little bit.

The skeletons keep swinging their swords as they try to slice people up. One attacks Smythly but misses, then other gets a small piece of Orion.

The fiery skeleton dips and dodges the hook, causing gouts of flame to exit the skeleton's eyes. Despite the Eldanar man's attempts to dislodge the creature's spine from its neck, he misses.

GAME: Cressida casts Magic Missile. Caster Level: 4 DC: 17

Cressida pauses for just amoment, taking in a breath to refocus, then incants a quick spell, hoping to finish off the skeleton. Two magic bolts strike it solidly in its rib cage, breaking a couple bones off, but it is still mobile.

Believe it or not, it /does/ look like Uraug is pretty sure which end of her sword to hold, but for all her flailing about, she can't seem to land a solid blow on the bag of bones.

Orion is getting just a bit sick and tired of getting beat upon by the same skeleton. He points his great sword at the skeleton then says, "You!" Then quickly adds "Are making this personal." With the aid of his god he smites the skeleton killing it. He then cleaves the fire skeleton killing it too. After killing both skeletons he heals a tiny bit of the damage done to him.

With the dampened Skeleton being a little less dangerous, Smythly dfinally delivers a massive bow to it that shatters it, disabling the magic animating it.

"Where in the blue hells did these come from?" he says, "We need to find out and make sure there aren't more!"

Orion goes to a knee, "It was getting a little tough there." He now sends a wave of positive energy to everyone around him.

There is a loud groan as the house shakes slightly, it looks like it might collapse at any moment as burning embers fall from the building. It is hard to see but Smythly and Cressida spots some more figures among the flames, moving towards the door.

Cressida approaches Orion as he knees down, looking to the still burning building. "Well, they came jumping out of the building, which makes sense, I guess..." She narrows her eyes. "I think there's still something in there."

Uraug sighs when the last of the skeletons go down, but then she turns, horrified when Cressida points out the people inside. "Oh! We have to try and get them out." Without stopping to think, she casts her favorite spell again, but this time directly over her own head, drenching herself before stalking towards the front of the building, calling out to the people inside so they know which way to go. "Come on! You have to get out of there! This way!"

Nicolai :releases the wave of energy that he had been saving, healing the party. Then he crowds in behing Uraug, trying to peer inside. "Hello in there!" he bellows. "Come out now! While you still can!" He pauses, turns to glance at the nearest pile of bones, then adds, "Unless you're a flaming skeleton! Then by all means take your time!"

"Look, quickly. There are people in the house!" Smyhtly is heading towards it, of course, and clearly thinking about going inside. They could need rescuing!

Another skeleton runs out of the door but then stops for a moment and moves to the side a small goblin follows him out. A goblin is in black plate armor, with a large mace and a spiked shield, covered from head to toe in blood. He steps out the front door then turns and lifts his mace up towards the door. A young girl in a white dress reaches out to hold the top of his mace as she steps over a burning log and steps out of the house. She is also soaked in blood, so much that her dress is now stained red. She pauses and tilts her head slightly as she looks around, "Who are all these people?"

Now that the skeletons are dead, Drisdane moves to join Nikolai and the others near the burning building, but then stops. He grasps the haft of his guisarme, and says something to Nicolai in Jotun.

Drisdane says "<something you don't understand in jotun>"

Orion was only down to one knee, his armor is a bit beat up between all the hard hits it took and the flaming skeleton exploding upon it. He rises when he hears there might be people in the house and move next to Smyhtly, "I think the question is, who in the blue hell are you people, and why are you soaked in blood!"

"Several flaming skeletons ran out and we dispatched them," says Smyhtly, firmly, glancing towards his others. "I believe we need an explanation, and swiftly, good sirs and madame." He's studying them quite intently. Seems he won't have to run inside after all.

GAME: Uraug casts Cure Light Wounds. Caster Level: 2 DC: 14

Glancing to her side, Uraug sees how beat up Orion actually is when he joins her at the door. She rests a hand on his shoulder, muttering something about Dana's blessing before healing energy flows into the man. She has no comment specifically for the goblin.

The girl lifts her blood soaked hand up to her lips, and places a finger into her mouth to suck the blood off. "I just just having a bite to eat, though I don't see how it is any of your business, peasents. Get out of my way." The goblin then turns to look to the party, "You heard her, move aside!"

Nicolai gapes at the girl for a moment. "A bite to eat?" he repeats, incredulous. "Did YOU set this fire?!" He raises his sword and clutches his holy symbol in the other hand. "You'll pay for what you've done!"

Cressida scoffs, standing just behind Orion. "I don't think so. I don't know just what you think you were doing, but we're obviously going to stop you here, before you light up any other buildings. Why don't you just surrender now."

"The Sorceress speaks wisely," says Smyhtly in reference to Cressida, "We believe the City Watch will be interested in what you have to say. Buildings don't explode into flames and have giant flaming skeletons run out, you know. It's about time you started talking and explaining to us if you don't want even more hassle. Make. Time."

"I think my friends are right, and that maybe you should stay here, so we can talk a while," offers Drisdane to the woman. His voice is deep and raspy. He pays no heed to the goblin next to her, only offering him a slight, undignified glance.


The girl giggles softly as she shakes her head, "Set the fire? Of course not, I did no such thing! One of the people inside panic and threw a latern at me, that set the fire. I had nothing to do with it." Her eyes narrow slightly as she stares back at Cressida and smiles gently, "I am just an innocent girl, surely you will let me by yes?"

You paged Cressida with 'For a brief moment you ponder if you should become her obident slave but then you come to your senses and realize that isn't a good idea.'

Cressida grits her teeth as she feels the enchantment try to settle on her mind, shaking it off. "I have a better idea. We take you two down and let the guards figure it out." She's quick to prepare to cast something.

Uraug takes a startled, inexpert swipe with her sword at the gruesome revelations, and then backs up a step to make room for her new compatriots to step in as well.

Cressida steps up alongside Orion. She keeps her shield up, ready to defend herself from the skeleton's attack, but her defensive efforts are disruptive to successfully casting the spell, and she loses it partway through.

The goblin paladin steps forward and he holts out his holy symbol as the god of death sends power pulsing though the symbol and it explodes, covering everything in blackness and death energy.

The skeleton hisses and raises a shield in front of it self before swinging it's sword at Orion, just barely missing as the sword reflects off his hard armor.

GAME: Drisdane casts Summon Monster II. Caster Level: 3 DC: 17

The negative energy swirls around Drisdane, harming him. He grits his teeth and sidesteps the Goblin Paladin, again holding his buckler into the air, the image of the Cracked Globe beared for all to see. Negative energy begins to gather in front of the shield in a crackling black ball filled with purple sparks. It grows, moving faster and faster.

The girl giggles slightly as she hops back and fires off two scorching rays, one blasting into Orion and the other Cressida, "Let me show you how to cast a real spell!"

Orion is able to strikes the Vampire Girl then tries to cleave the Goblin Anti paldin but misses, "Not bad girl, not bad at all but you are going to have to do better then that."

"You," says Smyhtly to the other goblin, "are an affront to my sense of decency. Those of us that work to bring our people to a place of honor would see you drag them back! I will n ot let you do it!" And with that, he bound forward by Drisdane and smashes his hammer into the goblin's shield violently.

Nicolai feels the unholy energy seeping into him. But he raises his own symbol and releases a wave of divine power. "Hah! Two can play at that game!" he assures the goblin. His force sword continues to poke and slide at the skeleton, gouging a few chips out of the exposed bones.

Cressida maintains her defensive stance, buckler raised to blocks its weapon. The proximity to the thing is not helping her concentration, however, and she loses her rhythm partly through, the words jumbled and the spell lost.

The paladin stares down Smythly, as he raises his mace into the air. "You are a disgrace to your race, I will show you true power!" He slams his mace down hard to try to smite him but misses. The skeleton however, gets a good hit on Orion.

Drisdane uses his shield to hurl the ball of negative energy between the Vampire and the Anti-Paladin. It lurches through the air, then pauses suddenly before exploding into a wildly swirling rift into the Plane of Air. Through it crawls a small Lightning Elemental with a rather dour attitude, the rift sealing behind it. An oddly inflected whistle comes from the Eldanar man's mouth, and the elemental crackles through the air towards the Goblin. A ball of air condenses in Drisdane's hand, and he hurls that at the Goblin too!

The girl giggles as some of her wounds starts to heal and she just casually walks around the people as she dodges about at inhuman speeds before getting around behind everyone and firing a fire back at them.

Orion takes a hard hit from the Skeleton, he tries to attack the Vampire but misses.

Smythly is just not having a good night. Not only does the vampire girl manage to duck out from under his hammer, but he also manages to miss again when he follows it up wiuth a charging swing at her midsection.

"Reos will take you," he roars, unimpressively;.

Nicolai gestures at this sword, and it flies over to attempt to stab the 'girl' before dissipating. Nicolai himself raises his holy symbol and sends out a wave of healing.

Cressida steps back from the skeleton, giving her a bit of space to move freely. She looks over at the fight and quickly incants her spell, shooting a scorching ray at the goblin. The beam hits him in the chest, searing him through his armor.

The girl smiles as she looks at Orion as he tries to chase after her. She is pretty tiny but that doesn't seem to stop her from trying to punch him right in the face, though she doesn't seem able to reach his face.

Orion decides to go all out and hit the Vampire girl with a power attack, but he misses badly almost losing his weapon after missing.

The lightning elemental charges the goblin who protects the vampires. Balls of lightning for eyes, a stormy cloud for a body, and horrid bolts for fists -- the creatures seems attracted to the Goblin's armor.

Glancing towards the other goblin, Smyhtly seems to be saying, with his eyes, 'I'm getting back to you later!'. And then another nimbly dodged strike on the vampire. Smyhtly's frustration appears to be mounting as he maneuvers, trying get into a better position for him and Orion.

Cressida sees people backing away from the armored goblin and she takes her opportunity for a clean shot. With a quick incantation, she fires another scorching ray at him, striking hom dead in the chest. This time, it's too much for him, something inside searing and he collapses to the ground. "Who's casting real spells now,?!"

The lighning elemental soars one last time, and attacks the skeleton, moving -through- him, before it unravels into wisps of static ephemera.

Drisdane moves forward and touches Orion's shoulder. Electricity and dark, stormy shadows linger about his fingertips. "Finish this!" Drisdane growls.

The girl laughs loudly as she skips away from the group and glances towards Cressida, "He was just in the way anyway. Also, I am the better one." She lifts her hand as a ball of fire forms and she throws it into the group and it explodes in a massive ball of flames.

Orion takes the full force of the fireball, only good thing is he is a descendent of a gold dragon so it hurts him just a little bit less then it would have hurt others. He notices how badly Nicolai is hurt, and feels his best move is to heal the best healer of the group.

Cressida pulls her cloak up, managing to deflect a fair bit of the fireball, her droconic resistance to the flames helping her weather the fireball. With that wave of healing, she looks at the vampire. "Is that the best you can do? I barely felt that. Try this." She incants quickly and fires yet another searing ray at the girl, hitting her in the chest, causing a vicious burn.

She laughs lightly as the huge burn starts to slowly begin to heal, "I barely felt that, but if you want to get serious..." She starts to chant a spell as she begins to disappear!

"Oh, balls," says Smyhtly, as the owund inflicted by the finally solid hit he's landed on the vampire girl heals up. Then he looks...rahter frustrated with her beginning to vanish!

The girl giggles slightly as she moves around, "Where are you shooting at, you totally missed me that time?" She then reaches out to try to touch Cressida to suck her blood out of her using magic. Luckily Cressida will never know because the attack misses.

Drisdane reaches out and touches Cressida's shoulder. His fingers crackle with wild, profane electricity. His voice is powerful as he rumbles, "Strike hard and true."

Smthly moves to help shield Cressida for the moment, watchful and waiting for any sign ot the evil creature that's been deviling him.

A hand reaches out and this time it touches Cressida and she feels her life force being sucked up, though it is still hard to see the invisible girl!

Orion does nothing fancy going for a basic hit and manages to hit the vampire girl.

"Be healed," says Smyhly to Cressida. Orion seems to be having better luck at the moment, so he's leaving him to it and instead pouring some healing energy, an ethereal flame licking off his fingers, and repairing hr injuries,

Cressida feels that draining touch and jumps back. The healing from Smythly gives her a boost and she brings her hands p, sending a gout of fire in the direction she's standing. It probably burns her some, but it's hard to tell when she's invisible.

The girl voice seems to call out from mid air as it moves around, and sounds as if it is moving away from the group. "This isn't fun anymore. I think I am going to go take a nap, I will come back for you later!"

With the polearm in his right hand, Drisdane attempts to grab the Vampire's wrist, but misses. He spins the haft of the hooked weapon into his other hand, but the invisible vampire is just too slippery for him.

Smyhtly rushes over to take another pot shjot at the vampire now that Cressida's wounds are tended to. He swings into the open air.

Drisdane looks about, seeing nothing. He clasps the polearm between charred fingers, narrowing his eyes. "We will search her out during the day, when she is weakest." The Eldanar man spits, and then looks about to ensure everyone's safety.

Cressida keeps her defensive position, ready to incant a spell at the first sign of her. But, after a few moment, she nods. "Yeah... I think she's gone. We should look for her in the day, but I'm not suyre we'll have any luck. At least we stopped her from unleashing a plague of skeletons on the city, though."

Drisdane instinctually goes to check on Uraug, who had passed out early during the battle. Nodding when he finds out she's alright, he moves on and eyes the burning house. "I'm going to see if I can get the guard to put out this blaze. Get this one out of here!" He points towards the unconcious woman, and gets going.
