- Summary:
Glasha is dressed in blacksmith's apron and sleeveless dress standing in her forge cart, talking to Zelany, who's sitting perched on the front half-wall like it's a fence. "I understand," Glasha says. "We'll have to discuss things in more detail later." She moves to the forge and picks up her hammer and tongs, pulling a brick of steel and working to fold it over on itself.
The Gnome nods slowly, and leans slightly, watching Glasha with interest. "May I know what it is you're about to work on? A sword, maybe?", she wonders curiously. Zelany stretches then, yawning lightly, before letting her feet swing back and forth slowly.
Wu enters the area weaving about those folks apon the street. Each passing a narrow escape as the man seems to love to court disaster and run-ins with folk. He stops, almost causing the man behind run into him, and looks about with squinting eyes. Eyes that crinkle with a smile as he spies Glasha's cart. Turning he moves towards it and up close. Reaching into a pocket he pulls out a few coins. "Two skewers of your best meat please."
Glasha looks at the man with disinterest. She is about to say something snarky, but instead holds up the red-hot steel. "Sir, unless this looks appetizing to you, I suggest you go to the trades district or a tavern or something."
The Gnome looks up at the man makes his order, and she hides her smile behind a hand. "He has mistaken the hot coals for an oven, and the pretty blacksmith for a serving girl.", she says softly. Zelany looks to Wu, smiling politely, "She smiths weapons, and repairs tools and the like."
The older man blinks and then squints at Glasha and Zelany in turn. Getting too close to the glowing metal his squinting becomes rapid blinking and he jerks his head back. "Well it certianly hot enough to cook on!" ,he exclaims rubbing at his nose. "A forge cart? I haven't seen nothin' like that sence my time in the army. An you got it here?" he looks about the area. "Could all go up in flames! Burn up this young lass here!" He says motioning to Zelany.
Glasha huffs. "It's magic," she starts by listing, "it's made of steel, and this girl works for me."
Zelany giggles. "This is one of the colleges of magic. Most of the place is probably impervious to fire. There have been many fires and explosions to not do this." She blinks and huffs at Wu, crossing her arms. "Lass? I am probably older than you, mister."
Wu puts his fists on his hips and sighs. "Smithing ain't magic. It's a science. A craft! And teaching an apprentice to work is a fine thing but this lass here is all of.." He stops and squints again at Zelany and then back to Glasha. "Twelve?"
Another look to Zelany. "An fire safety isn't a joke. College or not. Fire burns are painful. I should know. Had my tent catch fire a couple times."
Glasha huffs and looks at Zealany, "Do you have Detect Stupidity prepared, today?" She opens a toolbox and pulls out three items. Two of them are small rolls of fabric. She slides them part-way up her arms. She then flips a beautiful, vibrant blue cloak quilted with silver thread around herself. Finally pulling up her sleeves, her outfit completely changes, though the color scheme remains blue.
Picking up the masterwork greataxe, the head begins to glow like a light bulb as the green woman steps up to the old man. "I am a conjurer," she informs him. "Celestials and fiends do my bidding because I went to college. I am disinterested in your antics."
Zelany blinks a few times. "Twelve? I'll have you know that I have seen sixty summers, young man.", she says haughtily. "And she applies magic to her smithing." She eyes Glasha then, and rolls her eyes momentarily. Looking back to Wu, she shakes her head. "This is a magical college which has seen many fires, explosions and accidents. They have learned how to weave protective magics into the very fabric of this place. A small forge a distance away from anything will not cause the area to burn to the ground."
The old soldier blinks as the axe starts to glow. "Hey miss, your peel is lookin' a might bit hot as well. Ya leave that in the oven too long? And..I thought you said you was a smith. Not a conjurer." A shake of his head and then an increadous look is put in Zelany's direction.. kind of.. near her direction anyway. "Sixty?!" He laughs. "You're mighty well preserved sixty, miss. That's within my age limit too. Might ask ya for a date then." he chuckles. "Well.. if you really were sixty and not twelve."
Glasha hangs her axe back up and moves to the front of the cart, turning the handle and shifting the steps up slowly until they eventually become walls and the cart itself is free to move, hovering above the stones. She moves to the forge and reaches down beneath it, pulling up a lever and rotating the inside of the forge from facing up through the chimney to facing out the back. The cart begins to move as air is rushed out the back faster and faster...granted, the cart isn't super fast, but it's plenty fast enough to get her point across.
The Gnome pauses, watching with interest as the shop starts to change into the cart. She looks back to Wu, and huffs once again. "I am a Gnome. That is the reason why I am barely three feet tall. And I am sixty." She vanishes as the side is covered up. "Bye, it was nice talking to you!", a small voice calls out. There's a squeak as the cart begins to move away.
"Gnome?" Wu watches all this business of levers and shifting parts about with interest and then begins to cough as the exhaust from the cart spews his way. Hacking he waves a hand about his face and bends over. Gaining enough breath to speak he manges to weeze out, "Maybe it /was/ a forge."
The exhaust is pure air. It has no fuel in it besides the "heat metal" spell, both empowered and maximized and cast on a specially shaped piece of adamantine.
