How many casts does it take?
Zapolklnex would come here, to the Arcanist Society, looking for help. A favor. Whether a student, or a more practiced caster, could help him by casting Magic Missile in front of him, such that he may teach it to his ring.
Merek has taken the time to put on his cargo pants with the tunic adjusted about him, then he pulls his longcoat about while he makes a way into the Guild. A request came in for a spellcaster, while he looks about, then finds an alchemy lab which he uses to teach people, then places a few parchment pieces on the desk.
Zapolklnex has his hood lifted off of his head so that he can see, and interact with others. Approaching Merek. "Pardon me, may I ask you for help? I have ring." He then gestures to a ring on his hand. "I need it to learn the spell Magic Missle. For that I must either borrow a scroll of that spell, or watch someone cast it repeatedly until it learns. Could I trouble you for either of those?"
"Yes, I'll need your name and what kind of spellcaster you are, we need to keep a bit of documentation on it," Merek mentions, while he nods to a parchment which is written up for it. He then takes a moment to check his journal book, while he finds a page on magic. He then makes a few notes as well.
Zapolklnex nods, and raises his hands in an open gesture. "I am Zapolklnex. I am a sorcerer, and a member of the adventurer's guild in this city. I have not been here long, but I have been here long enough to complete assignments in a satisfactory manner, and have attended the temple of Tarien here."
Merek makes a few notes, "Alright. Ring of Spell Knowledge, I will take a look," he says, peeking to see if he's wearing that ring, "Well, looks like it, we can begin. It is a simple spell, I won't charge for it, but I'm only going to go through the casting range." He then nods a bit, while he finds a device he places on a desk for casting magic on.
Zapolklnex watches this. "You are very professional, orderly, and precise," the chaotic, political rebel recently converted to Tarien observes. "I am glad you are on my side. Thank you." I am ready when you are."

"Well, when it comes to magical learning, you need to be. I'm Merek," Merek introduces, while he offers a smile. He then stands up, while he lifts up a hand. A few missiles then fire from it into that target while he makes sure to do it where Zap will be able to see it in full!
Zapolklnex watches and concnetrates as Merek casts. After the bolt of force flies into the air, the ring briefly glows. Zapolklnex himself then pauses, and casts the spell himself, doing the same thing Merek just did. "Thank you Merek. That worked rapidly. You are a good example for a ring to follow."
Merek nods a bit to Zap, while he thinks about it. "I appreciate it, you are welcome. Keep practicing, even if you know magic, it takes a while if you want it to feel like it is a piece of you as well."
Zapolklnex nods. "That's true. I've always had the ability, but only in using magic aggressively to further ends, have I gained substantially in ability."
Merek nods a bit to Zap, "Well, in any case, I need to be about doing business, you be well," he says, with a smile as well offered to the man.
Zapolklnex nods."I won't take up any more of your time. Good luck."
