Dran and Rune stand at odds. The two nations share different philosophies, and after Taara's Shadow took the land and was beaten back, it did not take much for the sparks to turn to fire. It began with a strike on Rune of dragons then unknown and mysterious. To Dran, this showcased a weakness that must be exposed and defeated. A marshalling of forces began. Words of peace began to be called out and diplomats from Alexandria were sent in a last ditch effort to stop a war before it begain. There, they met with the leader of these forces intent on Rune's fall, a warlord named Arendt. There, he struck down the diplommat, called Alexandria a nation of craven cowards, and accused them of all manner of treachery. It is widely believed in Dran (though precious little elsewhere) that the Alexandrians were responsible for the beginning of the war. Dran and Rune are now engaged in a titanic conflict which has lasted a year now, the beleagured Parliamentary Guard and it's wizards holding their own against the might of an 'Iron Tide' proclaimed by the mighty Dran Warlord Arendt. . This fighting, as many have pointed out, keeps them from acting againt Heth as they may have been had the rest of the world's plans come to fruiton. 5r Dran continues to accuse Rune of misuse of magic, and is convinced they need 'properly managed' for the good of the world. They argue that their might makes them the right choice for this job, yet it is suggested they pay only lip service to Angoron in the name of conquest. On the other hand, some of their accusations may be true... it isn't as though wizards are known for their sense of right and wrong, after all! At the moment, the war is at a stand still. The Tide prepares for final assault on the city-state of Rune, but is biding its time while the grand summit is taking place in Dun Mordren. It is said that they have every intention of monkeying with the politics of the summit for their own standing... but then... who doesn't? Should Rune fall to Arendt, he will remake the north in his own image. The Players: Arendt: Master of the Iron Tide is the warlord known as Arendt. A mighty and powerful man, he has a keen mind and is an astute student of the Dran character. He has excelled at manipulating the war to his advantage, though he has suffered numerous defeats at the hands of Rune's potent strategies and power. He is said to be deadly and ruthless in battle. Masterly: Less known is Rune's second a nd spymaster, a man named Masterly. It is widely believed by some adventurers that the real Masterly was replaced with one of Heth's agents some time ago. Whether this fact is known to Arendt or not is unknown, and several adventurers have a very large bone to pick with him. (Especially Elessa.)

She's known in Alexandria as at least a solid if somewhat impulsive member of the Engineer's Enclave, but even if her adventuring style is a bit hasty she still does good work. Devices created might include more traditional ones such as ballistae, or if permitted more exotic things such as energy weapons. Feel free to levy extra complications on her work. Nothing's ever fun if it goes 100 right! :)

[6+] Whirlpool added on Wed Apr 13 09:39:35 2016: The entry reads: "...while until now accounts were suspiciously incomplete about Arendt's mystery advisor--even family history, some details have of late come to light. According to work by the greater community, and members of specific organizations, we now know the following: Dran, many years ago, Masterly and Arendt became friends. The exact nature of how they met is not known, but it is believed their time goes back to the Secure Panacea's early days together, were they worked alongside small-time trader Narvin Forgeholm. Together, they found something that lead to Narvin becoming fabulously wealthy and to Arendt becoming far more dangerous. He and Masterly went onto establish, over the years, a reputation for brilliance and deviousness that, when the moment was right and Rune appeared weakened, lead to the formation of the Tide of Iron. Their goal is a political upheaval that will lead to the remaking of the north in Arendt's image.
"...further reports surfaced that suggest that Forgeholme acted under the influence of magic. Masterly was outright replaced, after being murdered in his room by a void dragon, 15 years ago in Myrddion. Why the void dragon was there is unclear. What has also surfaced is that prior to this event, Arendt, Forgeholme, and Masterly had come into some treasures related to the history of the Titans and Krieg. They had intended to use this treasure to make the Dran great again, though not in the direction we see, today."

Or at least it was, briefly. Out of nowhere, many of the constructs that Rune depends on for everything from menial labor tor protection in the form of its Iron Golems and more went mad as one and have begun a full scale rampage admist the city while at that /exact moment/, Dran's armies began to move intowards the city, as if they knew this blow was coming. It would've spelled disaster for the glorious city of magic but it seems Rune was able to buy itself time. A shield of force descended over the entirety of the walled city, placing it under a protective bubble of energy that has sealed it off from the outside. Alexandrian adventurers will know that it's not entirely sealed off, of course, but it may buy it enough time to figure out what's driving the constructs mad and put an end to it before too much damage is done.
[11+] Whirlpool added on Thu Jun 02 13:34:46 2016: An immediate call for the Parliament of Rune to meet has been initiated. This meeting will be open to Alexandrian adventurers and will be occurring soon.
