You have all be gathered by the Guild and told of a village seeking help to find one of thier villages. It seems he was out watching the flocks, and while most of the flocks returned, him and some of them did not. It has been a few days so they want you to go looking for him. He is a young man names Charles. You have arrived in the village and we given a meal before they give you the directions of where Charles normally takes the flocks. The sun is still high as you near the area they describe.

<OOC> Zyla says, "free poses"

Pelka pecked away at his meal, nodded somberly at the description of missing shepherd and other details, and then as soon as the party is on their way he spreads his wings and begins flapping, rising into the air. "This shouldn't take long!" he assures the others. As he continues to ascend he has to shout down to be heard. As his voice raises you can hear a hint of shrill shrieking creep into it. "Unless he's been eaten by some wild beast - then it might take a very long time!"

Kailin makes his way to the village with his weapon on his shoulder and listens in on what needs to be done. He waits until everyone else is ready, his own thoughts segmented into multiple different avenues, drawing him into an introverted daze. After a time he comments, "I'm ready to go when you guys are."

Never pass up a chance to eat. And the best kind of anything is the free kind. Mip likes her eats, and eats her likes. She belches to show her appreciation. Then it's off to the harder stuff.

The big'uns are already up there. Now one of them gets way up there. "Oi! Ya see anyt'ing?!" she calls up. Bird's eye viewin 'n all.

Vasya says, "A very long time." Vasya says as she looks to Pelka, then to Mip down below. "Hopefully he hasn't been eaten." She then looks to Kailin. "yeah, Likewise. The sooner we get to him, the less likely he'll be eaten.""

Pelka flies about in a wide circle. He seems to struggle to move in certain direction. Finally he makes it back to where the party is and touches down again. Now when he speaks he sounds just a little bit winded. "No - I just see trees and grass mostly," he admits. "Guess we might be better off searching closer to the ground."

"If'n he got ate, we mebbe still find pieces. Bring 'em back." Mip offers up, helpfully. "Ain't recollectin no specifications on finding fer coin. Justa lookin."

The area you have arrived in is a high pasture, there is a tree line and its almost just a giant clearing. There is the path you came from which has mostly been cleared to make it easier for the flock to travel and stay in sight.

Pelka peers about. "Do we have anyone who can, ah, search for tracks?" He looks at the other members of party hopefully.


Vasya shakes her head. "I'm a sorceress, not a tracker, I fear." She says with a sigh. I can attempt it, but I wouldn't be very good.

<OOC> Zyla says, "anyone can look for tracks, its knowing what to do when you find them not everyone knows."

Kailin nods and continues forward in the direction they were headed, his attention partially on the ground ahead of him. "We can all look for the tracks and help each other out. Work together." He nods absently and continues forward vaguely, hoping more than trusting, that they are on the right trail.

<OOC> Vasya says, "before I forget" GAME: Vasya refreshes spells.

Pelka nods at Vasya. "That's the spirit!" He makes a pleased noisexat Kailin and then moves away, peering down at the ground for any signs of a shepherd. Vasya begins to look as well, chuckling at Pelka. "Odd bird." She membles to herself, but it was, in no way, a put down.

<OOC> Zyla says, "perception"

Mip points a finger at the ground. Waggles it. "Jus look fer holes. Ye fall in? Summin big was 'ere." She points her finger again, now into her nose, while she walks around looking at the ground. Tracks. Shepherds. Gold bars. Lost jewels. Any of those'd be good ta find.

To (Kailin, Pelka), Zyla pages: you find what looks like the tracks of some of the sheep and probably Charles heading out the far side of the pasture, like a couple strays got away and he went after.

Kailin looks up, looks towards Pelka, then begins following her and heading out towards the far side of the pasture, remaining uncharacteristically quiet as he goes.

<OOC> Zyla says, "encourages poses" <OOC> Mip figured everyone was waiting to find out if they fell in holes. "Oops."

Vasya really isn't going to find anything. She may have see invisibility, but her ability to find tracks is really really bad.

<OOC> Zyla says, "usually if I ask for rolls and you don't get a page fairly quickly then you didn't really find anything."

Pelka follows something towards the far side of the pasture. "I think he went this way!" he announces. Along the way he pulls a short, stocky looking thunderbelcher out and checks it.

Mip doesn't find any holes. That means she don't fall in none, neither. "Sure we're inna right grass. There's lotsa it all over the... Oi!" She looks over at the birdman. "Whatcha got?" She wobbles her way birdwards. Since he pulled a gun, her nose says there could be danger. So she springs her 'spitter, too.

Vasya says, "Well...that's better than anything I've found." She says and begins to follow Pelka."

<OOC> Zyla says, "survival to try and follow the tracks, or you can just try to head in that general direction" <OOC> Vasya will see if I can get high enough to help GAME: Vasya rolls survival: (3)+2: 5 <OOC> Vasya says, "nope. Kailin continues to head in the direction the tracks went, positive that they are headed in the right direction and certain that they will come across what they are looking for sooner or later. With the other three all looking for their prey, Kailin let his own vigilance lapse as he stumbled along, distracted.

Heading that way you will find a little bit of a path, or game trail as it heads deeper into the hills.

Vasya doesn't notice much other than the game trail but the rest of you notice there are broken trees here and larger prints of something humanoid.

Pelka gestures at some of the broken trees with the barrell of his weapon. "Something big must have done that," he adds after examining the prints. "A giant no doubt," he nods proudly at his woodslore. "A hill giant no doubt."

Kailin looks down to the larger prints and says, "Looks like he ran afoul of something nasty, whatever it was. Over some livestock... such a shame." He sighs dejectedly and the situation doesn't seem to be helping his down mood already. He shakes his head slightly and begins to follow those tracks, in an attempt to find that larger creature.

"Can' say as too many I know run afoula something NICE," Mip alerts all to the quasi-obvious. "Course if'n they did, t'weren gripin about it none." She bandies over to one of the big prints and bends over to look in. "Ya find 'im inna bottoma one?"

Vasya says, "Isn't that how some things get by? Just by attacking livestock? You'd think they'd be smart enough to go after something other than livestock, and the people guarding them.""

It is a bit easier to figure out which way that they went, given the broken trees and all that.

Kailin gives a noncommital grunt at Mip, but nods agreeably at his statement. He takes in a deep breath and hefts his maul off his shoulder. "Well let's get after it, then. Maybe bring that man's body back to be given a proper burial for his village folk." He heads out towards the broke trees, looking for the obvious signs beyond that to follow.

Pelka occasionally launches himself into the air as the party travels, flying a quick loop ahead to either side before rejoining the group. "If it is a giant," he pants after his latest landing, "I just hope he didn't bring any rocks."

<OOC> Zyla says, "pelka give me another perception" hi <OOC> Vasya says, "test" GAME: Pelka rolls perception: (19)+12: 31 [RPTwo] Pelka fist-pumps Zyla pages: on one of your loops you notice something up ahead, a cave and smoke coming from it. GAME: Kailin rolls perception: (3)+11: 14

Pelka sets down next to the party and then points. "I saw a cave up there, with smoke coming from it!" He peers at the treetops. "Pretty soon we'll be able to see it. Could be the giant's lair!"

"Oi. So yer wantin ta go inta its house?" Mip looks to the birdbrain, then the others. "That soundin smart ta yous?"

The rest of you can see the trees clearing up as you start to approach the cave. Its rocky here, hard to see if there are any tracks.

Vasya says, "No one ever said adventuring was smart." She looks to Mip. "but we do need to keep these things from taking out more people.""

Kailin shakes his head to Pelka and says, "I didn't see that at all." He looks towards the cave, then back to Pelka. "I'll follow you then. Its as good a place as any." He nods to Mip and "Yes, let's go in and take care of these lands."

Pelka turns and looks at the trail. "I'll take a look - don't go after the giant without me." Flapping his wings he lifts off and then rises fifty feet into the air.

Vasya nods to Pelka, but makes sure to get the heck off the trail, at least for the time being, but close enough to still see her fellow allies.

"Ya sure the big bigun's home?!" Mip asked in a harsh whisper at the sounds from behind them. She quickly tries to investigate... the back side of the nearest rock or tree larger than her.

Kailin sees everyone else take off and he just stays where he is, turning around to the sound coming up from behind. If it was the denizen of the cave, it likely meant it was simply out at the time they followed it in. If something came up behind him, he'd surely figure it out in time. So he waits patiently for whatever they were looking for to come to him instead.

Zyla pages: you see two ogres heading towards the cave coming towards you.

Pelka peers down the trail. He peers down at the party. Then he calls out loudly, "Ogres! Two ogres!"

<OOC> Zyla okay...pokes people for poses...about to get into combat.

Vasya grimaces at Kailin. "Well....at least he'll get into battle first." She says keeping at least a little hidden.....

Kailin purses his lips and gives a resigned nod to Pelka as she informs of the two ogres. With a sigh he begins singing his battlesong to Kor to help get him ready for battle, the song not coming out as loud or as fierce as it usually is, but doing the job nonetheless.

Pelka puts away his thunderbelcher for long enough to affix a small metal patch over one forearm, where it remains as if attached. Then he pulls out jot his thunderbelcher but a larger, bulkier weapon that hums and crackles with magitech.

As you all get ready, there is a roar and the two Ogres come into view. There is an echoing roar from behind you though as two more emerge from the cave. Either way they are about 80ft from you, two to the front, two to the back.

GAME: Pelka refreshes spells. GAME: Pelka casts Shield. Caster Level: 5 DC: 15 GAME: Zyla advances the initiative order.

     Round One - Init 25.
     It is now Vasya's turn! Ogre3 is next!

Magic missile then." <OOC> Zyla says, "which one?" <OOC> Vasya shrugs. "Any of them. <OOC> Zyla says, "ok..roll damage" GAME: Vasya rolls 3d4+3: (9)+3: 12 GAME: Vasya casts Magic Missile. Caster Level: 5 DC: 15 <OOC> Vasya says, "test" <OOC> Vasya assumes a decent amount of damage, so posing.

Seeing the Ogres screaming down the road, Vasya takes a deep breath. "Well...here goes nothing." She says as she snaps her fingers, says a key word and tosses three blue orbs at one of the Ogres, all three smacking the face of the Ogre.

One of the ogres in front of you surges forward, closing the distance a bit, meanwhile one behind does the same.

Kailin stars forward with a leap, then a flip, tumbling forward until he breaks out into a quick sprint and unleashes his earthbreaker at one of the pair of ogres to the rear. The maul crunches into one of the ogres and smashes through solidly as bones crack.

GAME: Vasya rolls ranged+1: (14)+5+1: 20 GAME: Vasya rolls 4d6: (9): 9 <OOC> Vasya says, "plus 1. XD" <OOC> Zyla says, "you kill it"

The last of the ogres moves up to join its compatriot.

     Round Two - Init 14.
     It is now Ogre1's turn! Pelka is next!

"Don't let up!" Vasya says as Kailin charges. She then points two fingers at the Orge and zaps him. Kill him on the spot. "Keep it going guys."

<OOC> Zyla says, "shield is +4 vs ranged?"

Mip has her rock. It's hers, and nobody else's! So she keeps ducking and hiding behind it.

<OOC> Pelka nods GAME: Zyla rolls 1d20+1: (6)+1: 7 GAME: Zyla advances the initiative order.

     Round Two - Init 12.
     It is now Pelka's turn! Mip is next!

The injured ogre that is still moving moves forward and then throws a javelin up at Pelka but misses.

<OOC> Zyla says, "your turn pelka, the one you hurt last time tried to throw a javelin, its right under you now." <OOC> Pelka will land behind the injured one then turn around and deathray it <OOC> Pelka says, "About 10' behind if I do my math right" <OOC> Zyla says,"you can do that. it will put the other one 30' behind you." <OOC> Pelka nods thats fine. Pelka just started to fly and hasn't got turning down yet <OOC> Zyla says, "ok you can roll."      Round Two - Init 11.

<OOC> Mip says, "Where are they at, now?" <OOC> Zyla says, "mip. only 2 ogres level, one at 50' in front one at 50' behind. though there are people close to them as well, if you wanted to move and shoot."

Pelka is still flying. His first shot, as hasty as it was, scorched into the lead ogre. Pelka flies right over, the javelin sailing wide before it even registers. The Egalrin drops in a barely controlled plummet, wings spread at the last monent to slow him to just a hard landing. Then he straightens up, turns and unleashes another bolt of electricity, shocking the ogre until it collapses.

<OOC> Mip guesses she can move, though it defeats the purpose of hiding. <OOC> Mip will close on the one not already harassed by someone, if there is one. <OOC> Zyla says, "neither has been engaged yet" <OOC> Mip goes for the back one. <OOC> Mip will bandy up 20 feet and shoot at it. <OOC> Zyla says, "what weapon?" <OOC> Mip says, "Sorry, 30 feet. Dragonspitter." <OOC> Zyla says, "okay, you move 30' puts you at 20. you get +1 to hit still from the inspire...roll to hit" GAME: Mip rolls ranged+1+1: (17)+8+1+1: 27 GAME: Mip rolls 1d6+1: (5)+1: 6

This is taking too long. Goofernuthin orgres don't even know how to walk into an ambush all proper-like. Fine. Mip separates from Rocky and scampers up closer to one that came up from behind. "Hoy, shepherd breath!" She lifts her 'spitter and fires, with a comforting little BLAM!

<OOC> Zyla says, "hurts.." GAME: Zyla advances the initiative order.

     Round Two - Init 10.
     It is now Ogre4's turn! Kailin is next!

GAME: Zyla rolls 1d20+7: (12)+7: 19 GAME: Zyla rolls 2d8+7: (3)+7: 10 GAME: Zyla advances the initiative order.

     It is now Kailin's turn! Ogre2 is next!

The other ogre near Kailin the one Mip just shot, moves just a little and swings its big club at Kailin smacking him good.

<OOC> Vasya says, "What was that roll for?" THe last remaining ogre moves forward and misses Pelka with its club. <OOC> Vasya snerk. <OOC> Zyla says, "vasya. one remaining...its 30' from you" <OOC> Vasya says, "how far away?" <OOC> Vasya says, "I hit enter just as you put that up. I move 5' up and scorching ray" GAME: Vasya rolls ranged+1: (17)+5+1: 23

Kailin steps into his next strike and muscles the maul around just as the ogre leans forward to strike. The maul connects with the creature's skull and it collapses inward with a sickening splattering of brains and the body immediately falls limply to the ground, but without a head. It is ripped from the body at the neck and sails through the air to land in a heap of fractured skull and grey matter held together by blood matted hair.

GAME: Vasya rolls 4d6+1: (12)+1: 13 <OOC> Zyla says, "hurts it." <OOC> Zyla says, "pose" GAME: Zyla advances the initiative order.

     Round Three - Init 12.
     It is now Pelka's turn! Mip is next!

<OOC> Zyla says, "pelka, you were almost hit in the back. Its 10' from you. Vasya just smacked it with a scorching ray" <OOC> Pelka will 5' step back and deathray it!

"There's one more over here!" Vasya says as she moves up to zap the ogre with a scorching ray, leaving a somewhat large burn on it's back.

GAME: Pelka rolls ranged+2: (17)+6+2: 25 <OOC> Zyla says, "hit" GAME: Pelka rolls 3d6+5: (10)+5: 15 <OOC> Zyla says, "its staggering now." GAME: Zyla advances the initiative order.

     Round Three - Init 11.
     It is now Mip's turn! Kailin is next!

<OOC> Zyla says, "mip. only one still up is 60' from where you are." <OOC> Mip reloads, moves up, shoots.

Pelka scrabbles back at Vasya's warning, ducking out of reflex and just avoiding getting his head smacked by the last ogre. Pelka triggers his own weapon as he backpedals, sending a sizzling bolt of Egalrin-made lightning into the monster.

<OOC> Zyla says, "okay. 30' move?" <OOC> Mip noddles. GAME: Mip rolls ranged+1+1: (12)+8+1+1: 22 <OOC> Zyla says, "so -2 to hit..but a 20 will still hit so roll dam" GAME: Mip rolls 1d6+1: (6)+1: 7 <OOC> Zyla says, "kills it" <OOC> Zyla says, "free poses after mip" GAME: Kailin ends his rage. GAME: Zyla removes the timestop. Timestop by Zyla has left.

"Oh, sure! go 'n DIE on me!" Mip walked all the way over there, and only gets to shoot it once? Then Vasya yells about the other one. "Yeah, yeah, keep yer boots on..." So Mip as to scamper back the other way. On the way, she cracks open her spitter, slaps in a new cartridge, snaps it closed and "Oi! Yer uglier'n the last one." BLAM. She shoots it in the face. Faces don't like bullets much. They tend to get all buggered up... or just splode. Like that one.

With the fall of the last ogre, things seem quiet again.

"These were.....squishier than I expected." Vasya says kicking one where it's nose used to be. "strange that ogres are way out here. I'm just glad we killed them before they could really hurt any of us." She then looks up towards the cave. "Pelka? Can you check the sky again? Make sure nothing else is headed our way while we head for the cave?" hi

Kailin tucks his maul back onto his shoulder. "Ogers are strong. Let's go check out that cave, hopefully bring home that man's body." He turns with a nod and steps onto the body of one of the ogres as he starts towards it, not nearly as cautious as Vasya.

Pelka nods in agreement, then beats his wings a few times, sending himself rising into the air. He begins a slow, clumsy circuit back and forth down the trail, looking for signs of more Ogres.

"Ain' lookin so strong now, are they?" Mip reloads her spitter before tucking it back in her belt. On her way after Kailin to the newly ownerless cave. "Aye. Let's see what's in there fer us."

It is quiet around though there are forest sounds, things stiring again but nothing else out there. There is still smoke coming from the cave.

Pelka drops down with a thud near the cave mouth. He takes a moment to recover from the none-too-gentle landing before readying his deathray and pointing it at the entrance.

Vasya starts to walk her way for the cave, and gets there just as pelka lands. The cave is not very deep so you can see into it easily when you get up there. There is a cooking fire going and what looks to be sheep roasting. Off to one side is a man tied up and gagged.

Vasya says, "I....think that's our guy." She says pretty much ignoring the sheep. If it's cooking, it's not alive to save.""

Kailin pauses in the cave looks towards the man. "I suppose someone will want to untie him and ungag him before we get back. Any chance we can just carry him back like that and get rid of the ropes later?"

Pelka lowers the deathray but instead examines the cave carefully as he approaches. "Charles?" he asks. He hesitates and then says, "Don't answer - we'll have you free in a moment. Those Ogres are all dead." After a bit he adds. "We killed them."

Mip points at the one not on the spit. "Mebbe they didn't have no shepherd breath afterall? Oughtta get 'im the flock outta 'ere."

Charles is shaken still but nods his head, "They ets the sheep I were next." He is the only thing left in the cave.

Charles is anxious to get back to town, so after you all put the fire out you take him back. They pay you and reward you with another lavish meal before letting you return to the city.
