PrP: The Derelict II
The Derelict, Part II
- DM: Aldean
- Date: Thursday, October 30, 2014
- Location: Alexandria / Rural Charn
- Level Range: 2-5
- Participants: Hethyr (Clr4), Smythly (Pal4), Korrani (Rgr2), Nuanna (Inq3), Bennet (Pal5)
- APL: 4
- Summary: The harbormaster has managed to work out some of the ship's log, and has some very interesting -- and disturbing -- information about the Diamond's Pride....
- Encounters: 3xAnkheg (CR6), 6 x Skeleton + Slave Chains Haunt (CR6)
Hethyr and Bennet get a message from the Explorer's Guild a few weeks after the original incident, indicating that the harbormaster explicitly asked them to pay him a visit. Jokul and the others weren't available, so they'll be sending a few other adventurers with you for this one. They didn't say exactly what it was about, but the pair likely have a shrewd guess. The others have been told nothing, only to accompany Hethyr and Bennet to see the harbormaster.
Bennet double checks his ThunderBelcher. Which is a sort of habit for the gunman, seeing as how it's a rather important bit of equipment for him. The Absolution is decked out in his shiney new suit of armor... which honestly isn't all that shiney at the moment. Seems someone was out working in the garden, and didn't take the time to freshen up before heading to the docks.
Nuanna heads to the guild, she was told to show up and so she is wandering around stopping at each person she finds, "Are you Hethyr or Bennet?" Then a few minutes later, "Are you Hethyr and Bennet?" so far the goblin lass hasn't gotten close, she forgot to ask for descriptions. She is getting close to the right people and eventually, she is heading towards the docks.
Korrani accompanies Hethyr and Bennet to their meeting with the harbormaster. She was on hand and needed the coin. "So, the guild tasker told me to ask one of you what was going on. Any brief details as to what this is about?"
Eventually, yes, Nuanna does get it right; although by the look of merriment in the Khazad's eyes, she'd been watching the girl make her inquiries for a bit, now. "That's us," she grunts, tipping her head toward the docks. "C'mon, fill y'in onna way. ...So they was this ship inna river," Hethyr says as the group makes their way to the harbormaster's. "Jus' sittin' there, lookin' more or less adrift, 'cept folk saw things movin' around come nightfall. So 'course, folk started t'worry, an' call in adventurers. Turns out, t'was a ghost ship, fulla Draugr no less; draugr's what happens, when folk have th'poor luck t'happen t'die where they's a big ol' stew o' evil magic around. Brought th'captain's logs back t'harbormaster t'get'm restored enough t'look at... an' that's where we's at now."
Bennet nods in agreement. "Best guess anyway. Ain't been told for sure what this is all about. But if this ain't about The Diamond's Pride, I'ma be surprised."
Nuanna nods, "Well it is a pleasure to be makin your acquaintanceses. I am Nuanna Boltsplitter, I am a relic hunter in the service of Reos." she says and gives a bit of a flourish. She has a fancy pistol at her waist, "That sounds interesting. Did they find out what the cause of the evil magic was, how many were there, what can you tell me about them, were they green, or normal colored, did they drip acid, were they normal sized or smaller, or where they insubstantial?" poor lass doesn't know which question she wants to ask first, or maybe she just is that kind of person.
Korrani's nose wrinkles at the mention of draugr. "A ship of the dead? I hate ships enough without that added bonus. I'm glad I brought some weapons with me. My arrows don't do much against that lot." She shoulders her bow and adjusts the belt with her sword, twisting it a little to test that the hilt is in convenient reach.
Hethyr snorts, shaking her head. "Normal-sized an' corporeal, but mean. Smart enough t'use weapons an' tactics... ain't sure what th'Captain's deal was, but, he had a couple 'a spells on hand too, an' was a fair pain t'deal with. But, 'tween th'lot of us, wasn't nothin' as couldn't be handled, so that's a blessin' at least. As t'introductions? Sunsguard Hethyr, me, an' I'll let th' man with th'rifle speak for himself. Respectful, an' all."
As it happens, that's exactly what it's about. When the group gets to the harbormaster's office, they're immediately shown into that same wooden-planked office at the back of the sprawling mess of files and charts, filled top to bottom with wooden furniture. As before, there's only one chair that's usable for all the stacks of paper, and it's currently occupied by a gray-haired and bearded human, a bit gone to seed but still reminiscent of the sailing man he once was. He looks up, and immediately spots two familiar faces. "Oh good, ya came. Found something that might be of interest to such as yerselves. Look ye."
He shoves aside the stack of charts and manifests at the edge of the desk so that the group can see, and gives them a gap-toothed grin. Hethyr and Bennet will immediately recognize the water-soaked captain's log, laid open to a page full of now-indistinct writing. Atop it lies a map with several markings and a set of coordinates on it. "Looks like ye lot have a treasure map on your hands. I and mine'll not touch it, don't fancy going there, but for adventurers such as yourselves, shouldn't be a problem."
Nuanna cocks her head to the side, "OOh, so the death ship had a map in the log and the map leads to treasure but folks don't want to go after it." she looks around at the others, "Anyone know where that is? I don't, I don't know maps too well, creatures yes, maps no. I prefer to follow the stars and things and not go by maps, maybe I should learn maps."
Bennet peers over the map, frowning mildly, before shaking his head. "Been too long since tried to read a chart. Spell it out for us." Glancing to the others, he offers a brief introduction. "Bennet Susson, Absolution of the Grey Lady."
"Might not want to go after it after seeing what happened to the crew that did?" Korrani makes a chuffing sound. She looks to the others and offers a tusky grin. "Korrani Penfast," she introduces herself with a polite nod.
"No?" The harbormaster sounds surprised, but turns the map to show the group. "The logbook spoke of hearing about treasure to be had and found the map. Last coordinates for that ship given in the book are off the coast of Charn." He gives the group a dark look. "If you want to go and see what it be all about, I'd be curious myself. Just ... not curious enough to go into Charn."
"Nice as it'd be 'f it was that easy," Hethyr grumbles, "somethin turned a ship o' regular folk into slaverin' undead horrors, an' me, I aim t'find out what, an' scour it clean." Nodding to the harbormaster, the priestess smiles tightly. "It's a damnfool risk, sir, but we gotta find out, Charn or no. No matter what happens out that way, I'm grateful f'r all your help, Harbormaster."
Bennet mmmmms. "Ain't never been to Charn. No real desire. But if there's rumor of a treasure, some eedjit's gonna try and claim it. And if something's cursing those who try, reckon we best be the eedjit's who put a stop to it." The Absolution considers a moment. "And iffen there's a treasure after all, the temple coffers could use a bit of coin. Will need to figure a way to get there, however. Reckon you can find some fool willing to give us a ride?"
Nuanna blinks, "Charn, whoa, well I have never been to Charn but I heard there are some nasty creatures there." she looks back and forth for a moment, "That is probably where they became the Draugr." she says and then shakes her head a bit, "Do we ride a ship? Get a spell? Walk?"
"Ship's passage to Charn isn't too bad," the harbormaster says, in response to the questions about passage. "Yer sailin' friend mighta been able to do it himself. Be a bit of a journey either way, you'd know better than I."
It takes a bit of finagling, but the group does manage to get passage aboard a ship making the eastbound journey around the southern horn. They make port in an area along the Charn colonies not /terribly/ far away. It's a trip, and more time than most of you likely ever wanted to spend at sea, but there it is, and eventually you finally make port. From there it's an overland journey to follow the map, and it appears to be a trek across rural plains dotted with occasional farms here and there. None appear to be terribly prosperous.
Bennet stopped being a sailor long ago. But a few habits come back, and the gunman faires well enough along the way. Is nice to get soild ground beneath his feet again, though. "Reckon best we just keep our mouths shut. No need to make trouble for ourselves or for anyone else." He frowns mildly at the farms passed by, but follows his own advice, and keeps his opinions on them to himself.
Hethyr seems a good deal more conflicted as they pass the farms, thick hands opening and closing. "...Suddenly I'm thinkin' as there'd better be treasure," she mutters sourly. "Poor folk could use a hand up 'r two, an' could be as we ain't gonna be in allat much of a hurry onna way back, right?"
Korrani is greener than usual for the journey by sea. She definitely doesn't have her sea legs. The long journey by land is a blessing by comparison. It only takes a few hours for her normal light hue of green to return. She's even in a good enough mode to smirk and make merry at Hethyr's comment. "Aye, let us pray there is."
Pant, pant, pant, pant.
Smythly has shown up at the last minute, armor clanking loudly as he does.
"Whew! Finally caught up with the rest of you! That was quite a run!" The goblin paladinclears his throat, then continues, "I'm Smythly. The Guild sent me. To help out."
The skies are overcast, and it's just starting to sprinkle, the clouds obscuring a wan autumn sun. It's not a downpour, it's just ... yuck. The area isn't heavily settled, but neither is it empty, and few enough people show their faces. Fewer are willing to stay and watch.

Everyone except Bennet picks up on it as you walk. There's an acrid smell in the air ... like the memory of acid tickling your nose.
You paged (Korrani, Hethyr) with 'You two hear a clacking as well ... beneath you?’
Korrani snorts softly to clear the smell from her nose. She suddenly looks down at the ground, not liking the sound of something. Her traveling pace starts to slow until she finally stops and looks around at the earth around them. "What is that?" she asks in hushed tones.
Hethyr bobs her head in greeting to Smythly, but before she can be properly neighborly, she seems to catch a scent. Her nostrils flare, eyes dropping to the ground beneath them, and soon she matches pace with Korrani. "Dunno," the priestess mutters, "but I'm thinkin' as we oughta be set t'jump..."
Nuanna wrinkles her nose, "Who farted?" she shakes her head, after all she has known some that make some really rancid smells. She shakes her head a bit. "What is that?" she mutters.
Bennet blinks, peering around a moment. "....what's what?"
"Shh...do you smell that?" Smythly looks around for a moment, and then continues, "What is that stink?" says Smythly, raising a hand up over his schnozz. He glances towards the otehrs. "You all smell that, right?"
"That clacking noise. It sounds like it's coming from beneath us," Korrani sounds disturbed by the prospect.

There's a rumble beneath you, and dirt sprays everywhere as three green, bug-like monsters burst from beneath the ground behind you. They scuttle up on six legs and turn to face you, drooling noxious green ichor from their mandibles.
And suddenly, the acrid smell just got a whole lot stronger.

Korrani swiftly unshoulders her bow as she strafes swiftly from the bug-like monsters that burst through the crust of the earth. As the arrow streaks past, Hethyr stumps forward, hefting her shield in one hand, drawing her warhammer with the other. Her heavy footsteps grow a touch more rapid as she picks up speed, ending her approach in a vicious, overhead arc... that slams into the dirt, as the insect skitters aside.

The first two of the creatures move immediately for the group. One already has humanoid flesh close to it, but Hethyr's wild swing may just have saved her as its mandibles, anticipating the strike, close on open air. The one Korrani damaged, though, bleeds green ichor and is entirely displeased. However, Bennet is between it and Korrani, and so it opts for the closer target. This time, the mandibles don't miss, and pincers find a chink in the Absolution's armor. Worse, the green ichor from those mandibles drips into the wound, and is most definitely acidic.

You are found wanting, face Destruction." calls out the goblin and then she fires, the shot flying from her pistol to strike the one the others have hit, it hurts it but its still up.

"...augh! Not these!"
Smyhtly seems a little displeased. H'es clearly seen one of these things before and it's right in his face. His instinct (correct, in this case) is to take his hammer and smash it into the carapace of the insectoid monster. Which he does. Slam! Cracks spread out in a spiral from the point of impact.

TWANG! The sound of Korrani's bow string vibrating can be heard vaguely over the sounds of battle. Another arrow streaks for her target and buries itself deep straight through the chitin plating.

The one that most of the group is targeting looks pretty darn desperate, one leg broken, several arrows sticking out of its carapace, and it lifts its tail, aiming at the ranger and the Absolution. It spits a long, acrid line of green acid across the two of them, but both are quick enough to dodge the worst of it. Fortunately for Hethyr, her dance partner is having little better luck, and her out-of-time swings seem to be saving her from the worst of the thing's mandibles.
Smythly, however, is not so lucky. Those mandibles, somehow, get ahold of the gobber and peel him like an orange, smashing deeply through flesh and armor and into bone, leaving a sizzling trail of acid in the wound.

Nuanna turns as she sees Smythly get hit like that, "Hey, no eating the gobbers." she calls out and she shoots at the one fighting Smythly and hits it, hurting it, but its still up and about.

Clearly off guard from the staggeringly powerful blow he received, and silently thanking Reos for the protection his armor provided, Smyhtly wheels his hammer back about. This time, it misses. On the other hand, his wounds seem to have cauterized and sealed somewhat due to the fires of Reos that briefly seem to glow about the paladin.

Korrani hisses in pain as the acid splatters along her armor and leg, eating through it to burn the skin. She starts at a run to circle around it to either avoid getting hit, notching another arrow. But she's in luck. The arrow finds its mark in the bug's head, felling the awful thing.

The sound of armor being peeled away and flesh being seared is, fortunately, a very distinct noise. "Later," she growls at the insect, turning to charge toward Smythly, intent on keeping him standing despite his wounds... only to have the ankheg pounce on her, its acidic mandibles diving down into the meat of her unprotected back. With a scream that is more fury than pain, she heaves the creature off a wide bloody mark spreading through her robes.

One of the bug things is down, and another is hurting badly. Desperately, it lets out a *skree!*, its tail lifting to aim at the gobbers. Just like the other, a stream of green, corrosive liquid shoots from that tail, splattering across the gobbers. Smythly dodges the worst of it, but the inquisitor takes it in the teeth. It still burns flesh, though.

Looks like Smythly is about out of gas. His wounds continue to heal in that same burnt glow as before, and he quickly brings his hammer to bear on the Ankheg once again. More cracks appear in its carapace.
"I hate these things," he growls.
The blessing delivered, in the hope that Smythly will know to use it, Hethyr turns to aim another swipe at the beast... one that, in keeping with the order of the day, misses by a mile.

So not what the creature had in mind when it came up in search of dinner!
Hurting and frustrated, the ankheg's mandibles clack ominously as they make another grab for the Sunguard. This time, though, it expects her to miss, and when she does, it pounces, mandibles tearing into flesh and armor, mouthparts oozing that acidic drool digging into its meal and holding fast.
At least maybe it can salvage a meal.

Bennet chambers a fresh round and fires once more, splatting a bug dead. The gunman peers around, not ready to lower his weapon quite yet. not when monsters lurk below the dirt.
Nuanna cocks her head to the side as she looks around, "How is everyone doing?" she asks.
Korrani sweeps back a mop of wet hair out of her face. "Could have done without getting sprayed on by that creature. But surprisingly well, considering."
"Had better days," Hethyr manages from beneath the freshest of the kills. "Less embarrassin' ones, too... lil' help here?"

Bennet sighs, and double checks his weapon is clean, clear, and ready to go before putting it away. Moving into the center of the group, the Absolution murmurs quietly a few moments, ending with 'Turn back the clock'. A wave of grey power washes out, mending wounds and healing burns, leaving the party in abit bit better shape. "Recall some tales of those things... nasty critters, but in all good for a place. Help the soil and such. Can't say as care to see any more around, though."
The dead bugs each have six legs and are about the size of a horse. Those of you who got hit by that green ichor have no doubt that it was acidic. It burned like it, but it's not doing further corrosive damage.
"Gonna hafta agree," Hethyr says, shoving the corpse aside as Bennet's healing brings a bit more strength back into her arms. Standing up, she puts her hands at the small of her back with a hiss. "Best get movin', though... Standin' here ain't gettin' us any less tasty, or closer t'where we's headed."
Korrani shoulders her bow again now that the coast seems to be clear. She nods in agreement with Hethyr. "Aye, best be on our way."
Bennet eyes the hard, yet light, shells of the creatures for a long moment... but eventually nods. "Aye, best get moving."
After a few minutes and some hunting around, the party gets itself sorted and continues. The weather is not wonderful, but at least it washes off the acid and isn't getting any worse.
You travel for a couple more hours, consulting the map as you go. It's a seafarer's map, really, with indistinct land markings, but the trek takes you through some desolate areas, some of which contain clearly disturbed grave markers. In fact, there's quite a few of those. Someone's been harvesting in this area....
Bennet is... less than pleased. The Absolution isn't the best versed in the funeral practices of other cultures, especially those of Charn, but he does take a few moments to try and set things back. He can't return the bodies just yet, but mayhaps he can help respect the memories.
Right next to Bennet is the Khazad, despite her injuries, gently straightening the markers, shoving dirt back into the holes it's heaped around... rough work, and in any other time it would be incompetent, but she seems to be in agreement with Bennet; it would be worse, just to pass this by.
Korrani stands over one of the disturbed graves. "Are things so destitute that the citizens have resorted to grave robbing?" Given the story of the Derelict, she curiously looks around for claw marks or signs on whether they were dug up, or if something pulled itself out of the graves.
Nuanna shakes her head as they move along, "I don't think they were after treasures from the graves." she says, "If I remember Charn is not uncommon with necromancers."
Bennet grumbles. "Don't think is riches being dug up. But power. Maybe. Bad news either way."
"'Tis that," Hethyr agrees, "an' if necromancy's common hereabouts, Daeus willin', gonna make sure it's a lil less by th'time we's out."
The graves can be put to rights, with a bit of work, and none seem to challenge the group in doing so. It's painfully likely, though, that it's too late to protect what lies inside.
The rain does finally stop, but not before the ground is wet, and so are you. You're getting close as you move along, to the coordinates marked on the map. There are more graves here ... some marked, some not. Some seem to be just loosely turned soil and sand, and the ground is getting sandier. While there are birds and insects chittering, you haven't seen a /soul/ in at least a couple of hours ... nor is there really a road or path here that you see, only remains of farmhouses and barns, now run down and the soil turned. It's as if this area was once a farming community.
Up ahead, you see what looks to be the ramshackle remains of a barn or a shed of some sort. Crumbling, with logs and stones broken and leaving gaps of non-light to spill into the structure inside.
Nuanna cocks her head to the side, "Are we close?" she asks, she is getting bored with the dreary scenery.
Hethyr pages: K/Religion roll? I'm suspecting that the life is being leached out of everything, can necromantic magic do that?

Vaugely susprised havn't seen Charn forces... necromancy might be allowed, but harming farmland tends to be frowned upon. Need all the crops they can get to feed those armies."

Bennet says, "....times like this I'm sorta tempted to just set the barn on fire, stand back, and not worry 'bout the details. BUT... might be survivors in there."
Korrani draws her shield and longsword at the sound of the groans. "That -is- tempting. I really hope it's survivors. But I'm a realist."
Other than those odd noises, and the lack of tracks anywhere ... there doesn't seem to be anything odd.
Anyone who consults the map will realize that this structure is, if not the location of the treasure ... very, very close to it.
Nuanna mutters and shrugs a bit as she nods, "We sneak up and see what we can see?"
Bennet ponders several moments. ".... try and hit from both front and back doors (assuming there is a back door), or keep ourselves together and focus on one front? Gonna assume will be a fight, even if there are survivors."

Bennet steps up to the darken doorway, thunderbelcher at his shoulder. "Aknowledge: open The Gate. Situation, Firebrand." A moment passes, the the gun begins to glow with a harsh grey light. A resonant voice replies 'Release acknowledged. Gate shall remain open until target is silenced.'

As the first of the group enters and Bennet turns himself into a living torch, the sets of bones seem to creepily pull themselves together, as if foul magic made sick marionettes of the dead for a moment. Only for a moment, though-- the skeletons coalesce, the bones and magic knitting themselves into a gruesome whole with an evil cunning that lets them somehow walk on bones alone. The first two of these approach Bennet and slash at him with a claw each. Both simply skitter off armor, or miss entirely.

The moment the bones begin to move, so does Hethyr. Stumping up right next to Bennet, the priestess closes her fist over her holy symbol, filling her lungs with a deep breath. "Down with you, vile creations of a twisted mind! In the name of the Sun, the Father, the Pure Metal, I refute the magics binding your bones to walk! In Daues' name I command, get you off the skin of this world!" At this last declamation, her holy symbol flares alight, a pulse of golden-white radiance like the kiss of the sun washing outward from her in a wave, blasting the skeletons apart in its furious glare.

As the light of the Father sweeps through the darkened room, sending bones crumbling to blackened dust, the moaning and rattling of chains that most of you had been hearing earlier comes back. And it's louder than before, rising to a shriek, a male shriek of anguish, abruptly cut off as if the end of his life ended his agony. The spiked chains and manacles among which the bones once lay themselves rise in anger, lashing out at Hethyr and anyone unfortunate enough to be close to her. Several strike her, but none penetrate the armor
....And now, in the light cast by Bennet and the brighter light of Daeus' anger, you can see the walls to which the chains are held fast, coated with old, dried blood, urine, feces and vomit.

Bennet eyes the chains. Eyes them really hard. Chains are not supposed to do that sort of thing.
<OOC> Bennet says, "Ghost, poltergeist, other sort of undead something identification?"
Hethyr pages: May I roll the same? I'm wondering if the entire barn isn't the forced repository for a soul.
You paged Hethyr with 'Roll it.
GAME: Hethyr rolls knowledge/religion: (18)+8: 26
You paged (Bennet, Hethyr) with 'There are several things that this could be. A poltergeist can sometimes do that, although that's a lot for a poltergeist.'
You paged (Bennet, Hethyr) with 'Ghost is also possible.'
You paged Hethyr with 'ACtually, you know one other thing.'
You paged Hethyr with 'The place is haunted. A lot of souls in anguish can do this to a place ... it takes on a life of its own from all the souls that have suffered in that place. The Father's power can quiet it ... for a time.'
You paged Hethyr with 'But it's not permanent. To permanently quiet a place like this, one has to determine what will lay the souls to rest and do it.
"Lord above," Hethyr breathes, eyes widening as she recovers from her surprise as the very manacles chained to the barn lash out at her... to no effect, but even still. Frowning, she glances up at Bennet, and back to Nuanna. "I'm wonderin'... Could be as they's a ghost possessin' th'place... but lookin' around? I'm thinkin' just th'pure sufferin' this place's seen gave it somethin' almost like life... An' I'm thinkin' takin' care of this, for good? It's gonna be a hell of a job."
Nuanna shrugs and cocks her head to the side, "Don't know, might have just been an echo, looks like lot happened here." she says and looks around, "Is this the place we are supposed to go?"
"..lovely," says Smythly, putting a hand to his face. He looks rather pained for a moment, continuing, "I like you already," to Nuanna.
Bennet spits angrily, still eyeing the chains. "Ain't sure. Ghost is likely. Reckon them was slave chains. Lot of suffering and dead. That sorta thing don't go well. Iffen is a treasure on top of it all, ain't gonna make things easier."
Korrani looks around in disgust. "Perhaps after we're done searching, we can burn this place to the ground."
Bennet very cautiously steps a little further inside. See if those chains try to attack again, or if that was just an effect. ...and see if can get a better look around the place.
"Rather consecrate it, then burn it, an' hope th'fire purifies what ain't scoured clean," Hethyr sighs, then blinks as Bennet steps forward. "Y'uh... mebbe as we oughta quiet th'place first, 'fore y'start testin' its patience?"
There's no movement from the chains at all. To all appearances ... they're just spiked chains, bolted to the walls and with manacles on the end.
The floor is covered in old urine, dried feces, vomit, and blood, just like the walls. A small pile of moldy straw is rotting in one corner, but there appears to be a door on the other side. This is more than one room.
Consulting the map says that this should be the place, or very, very close.
Nuanna nods, "Alright, a door to check, place smells worse than a wolf stable in goblintown, lets check it out and then get out of here." she shakes her head a bit.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Perception if you are searching the place." GAME: Korrani rolls perception: (17)+7: 24 GAME: Bennet rolls perception: (12)+7: 19 GAME: Nuanna rolls perception: (12)+11: 23 GAME: Smythly rolls Perception: (18)+3: 21 GAME: Hethyr rolls perception: (13)+6: 19
Smythly, of course, will begin helping to search the place. He is, after all, a keen eyed goblin.
You paged (Korrani, Smythly, Nuanna) with 'You three find a section of dirt floor in the second room that looks as if it's been tamped down and smoothed over somewhat inexpertly.'
Bennet keeps very cautious as he checks. No one wants hit in the face with a rusty chain... well, maybe some Korrites, but we try not to talk about those guys.
Hethyr picks her way through the barn, eyes sweeping back and forth... but something in the set of her expression says that she's not precisely looking for treasure. "'M so sorry," she murmurs under her breath, over and over.
Nuanna cocks her head to the side as she frowns and keeps walking over one spot in the second room, "I think there might be something under here." she murmers. She looks at some of the others. "What do you think?"
Bennet says, "....door first, keep and eye on the floor spot?"
Korrani walks over to Nuanna and scuffs her foot along the ground. "Looks like. Guess we dig?"
Hethyr straightens, casting one last look around their fetid, charnel surroundings. "...Yeah," she says after a moment. "Might as well... could be as we'll get a better idea o' what happened, here..."
Once the group sets to digging, it turns up a chest, which from the look of it does indeed seem to have been buried here a while ... but not that long ago. There's also other signs of relatively recent use in this place -- footprints and the line --- but no belongings to suggest who.
<OOC> Aldean says, "It's getting late, folks. You found the treasure, and what's in there is dependent on whether you're up for learning more about what happened here." <OOC> Hethyr is, definitely! <OOC> Bennet is as well. Is also in favor of getting some sleep. :(</nowiki>
Nuanna nods her head and looks at the chest, "WEll lets get a look inside." she says and shakes her head a bit.
