        You awaken from drowsiness to find yourself alone in a posh carriage where everything inside looks elegant, comfortable and ridiculously expensive. You look outside the window and see that the sky is wonderfully blue, and that the scenery in your passing is rich and vibrant.

        The conductor of the carriage looks in and smiles when he sees you awake, "Good day, sir. We won't be too long from our destination now." He says before resuming on his duties.

        You look at your hand and see a ticket. A winning ticket to dine in a recently opened restaurant. A ticket that you had purchased or acquired by some other means. You look at it for a moment and wonder the circumstances in how you got it. But your thoughts are jolted by a bump on the road. The driver apologizes...
 

        Your transport passes through the noble district, and then parks in front of a recently finished restaurant. There are several people there waiting, waiting for your arrival. You are ushered inside to the waiting room where several comfortable chairs have been laid out. You are told that your table will be ready soon. As the usher leaves, you find other people in the room. People like you. People you know. Just as you were about to ask something, the usher returns and calls upon you and the other guests in the waiting room to follow him.

        The goblin artificer frowns, looking around for a moment. Then he looks at the the others. "Free food?" He says simply.

Kojot rubs his forehead. "Next time someone asks for a few rounds of wagering, I'll stick with cash and sobriety," the half-orc grumbles. Still, he follows along with the usher.

Lorien had seemed a bit perplexed, but he always kind of was a well-dressed kind of an individual and seems a bit curious, as he looks around from that arrival, and nods a bit, "Curious, wonder what it's all about," he says, as he grins a bit.
Munch shuffles slowly after the usher. He's weirded out, but that's no reason to be late for a meal. Running a series of internal diagnostics, the metal man makes sure everything is alright... at least under the circumstances... "...is waking up usually confuseing? I don't normally sleep."

Standing up, Moonshadow nods to Munch and everyone else before movin to follow the usher. "Noble district, posh restaurant.....and we're adventurers here. Hmmm..." She says as she walks along....


        Klythos notices how everyone else seems confused, and he scratches at his head. "All head bad? Bad."

 

	  You are all lead to a long banquet table where delicious and well presented food of various sorts are seen on top. A elegant and sturdy chair is pulled out before you and you are asked to sit. A clean napkin is placed on your lap before you can say anything. 

        In all of this is a nagging sensation at the back of your head. Something is not right here.

        For the time being, you enjoy the drinks and fine music as the kitchen prepares for more special courses for you and your companion. A server comes by and pours some expensive wine on your glass and asks you if there is anything more you would like. 

        You were about to say something when you hear something outside. It sounds like something streaking through the skies. Something very, very large. The sound fades and then stops. Then you hear a distinct hollow POOM sound not so far from your locale.


	  You were about to stand up when the ground beneath begins to rumble. The intensity of the tremor increases until you feel the walls vibrating, and some of the windows shattering. Just when you think that your place has been struck by earthquake, the tremors stops. All of a sudden, a loud Kraka-THOOMB sound can be heard somewhere outside. Somewhere distant.

        For the moment, no one else inside the building is moving. They all seem to be frozen in fear of what is going to happen next. You, however, are not.

        Munch mmmms, standing slowly. "Illusion of some sort? Hypnosis? I'm ready to start breaking things until they make sense again." Barbarian, thy name is Munch.

        The goblin tumbles off his chair at the noises, and crawls under the table. Of course, his next action is to prep his death ray, adjusting a few dials. The power pack on the weapon starts to hum.

Belching into her hand, Moonshadow eats rather pleasantly until outside rumbles and the windows shatter. She dabs her mouth and looks to Munch. "Perhaps you shall have your chance, Munch." She then slides out of her chair and lowers herself to the floor. "Klythos....can you make your way over to a window to see what's outside?"

Kojot stands as well, removing the sheathes from his fingertip clawblades. "At least fighting should make sense," he agrees, nodding to Munch while striding towards the door. "At the very least, it's a break from... /this/."

Lorien looks at the wine, and then takes a drink, as he blinks a bit at the sounds that come about, and he looks around, however he stands up a bit and grunts, "We should check that," he says. The youth heaves a sigh, and then pats at his hip.

        Klythos narrows his eyes at Moonshadow, wondering briefly why she seems to think he is best to look out a window most likely set for human sized. But, he does start crawling towards the window, keeping low.

 
        The sound of the two explosions are located on opposite sides ends of the city. A warning bell can be heard being tolled from all districts in the city. Fire and smoke can be seen rising from the two horizons where you think the explosions originated. As you decide on which place to go to, you realize that you have been wearing your battle paraphernalia all along, and your weapons are all ready to be used.

        
Munch heads the opposite direction to peer out a window that way. The metal man doesn't really expect to see anything, but he wasn't expecting to dine in a posh restaurant either.

        Klythos points, "Two booms." His gestures are out the window, at two separate areas.

Kojot frowns. "Probably should check them both out," he muses, "but we should stick together." Glancing at the others, he shrugs. "Which one first?"

"We should check the sky, first," Lorien answers a bit, "Could be aerial," he offers, as he shifts a bit and nods to the group.

Munch points. "That way. Something fell from the sky. It -might- be SkyMetal." Okay, so -maybe- the golem has a bit of an interest in adamantine.

        Klythos grunts. "Ground first. No fly." He pats his armor, frowning. "Yet."

Munch fehs. "If you need to fly, I'll throw you." ...he could likely get some impressive distance.

Moonshadow chuckles a bit at Munch. "We'll find what's going on there then." She then shakes her head at Munch. "I don't need to fly. I can run there." She says starting that way.

	  As you arrive not so far from the source of the disturbance, you see that there is a massive evacuation being made in the affected district. You see people running frantically away, screaming and yelling as they do. The fire is more visible in the spot you are in now.

        You see several city guardsmen jogging quick time towards the direction of the explosion, while other uniformed men are directing the path of the evacuees towards safer grounds.

        Then, several booming noises can be heard from a distance. You look up and you can see several fiery objects hurtling towards the sky ahead. You take a moment to look at it more before you realize that one of the fiery projectiles is arcing towards your vicinity, all the while people are gathering about.

        When the people around you realize the threat they are all in, it is too late to get out of the way. People scream in terror as the fire ball comes hurtling towards them. They try to make a run for it but the blazing orb smashes into one of the nearby buildings and detonates upon impact, causing a powerful explosion to erupt in your area. (Roll reflec DC 15. Fail take 30 damage)

Lorien looks up a little bit as he sees the hurtling fireball and then tries to push away a bystander, however when he glances back a bit and then shifts to try and run for himself, he takes a clean chuck of flame-rock that was blasted from the wall and knocks him back with a grunt and rips through the clothing, spilling a bit of blood as he groans.

        Sometimes being small has advantages. As the building explodes the goblin happens to be standing between Munch and the building....Munch takes the brunt of the blast....slow big folks and all that, what, its not the goblins fault!

Munch blinks, at first not concerned at the big ball of burning fire. It's not exactly comming at -him-. And then it explodes.... well, the golem is certainly rocked back, but he's still standing.

Moonshadow is fast, VERY fast. When she sees the flame rock coming her way, she grabs a couple of people and runs to the side to avoid the boulder. She then sets the pair down. "Run for cover. I don't think this'll be the last of this."

Kojot hits the ground and rolls, avoiding the worst of the flames but still getting singed. "Okay, well, now I can definitely say that this /isn't/ some sort of bizarre dream," he says.
 

        After the fiery explosion has ceased, you see a great deal of dead people all around you, men, women and children. The surrounding buildings have been damaged badly, some of which are on fire. The explosion has affected your hearing for a moment, and it takes a while for you to get your bearings.

        You begin to rise up when, again, you hear the distinct booming sounds you heard earlier. You look up and see once again, fiery orbs streaking through the skies and heading in all directions in the city. One of those orbs is hurtling dangerously close to your area.

                The goblin seems to be circling the Golem. Whenever an explosion happens, he is on the opposite side of the larger being. He seems to have no idea what to do in the situation, perhaps not even sure it’s real.

Moonshadow says, "Move it! We need to find out where those things are coming from so we can stop it!" She yells towards Munch. It's a sound strategy, especially as she tries to stay out of the arc of that flaming boulder."

Kojot looks at the descending orbs, then looks towards their origin. "I say we shut down whatever -- or /who/ever -- is behind this!" he yells to the others as he starts jogging towards said origin.

Munch fehs and grumbles, taking a second to orient himself towards the source of the fireballs before moving that direction again. Quickly, but still holding back a little. Whatever he heck this is, he's not quite confidant on taking it on alone. "Dream, no. Weird freaky hallunication sort of thing... still a maybe."

        Just as you are about to run, several lightning bolts streak from the ground up and intercepts several of the orbs that are in the air, including the one that was heading to your location, causing several loud detonations but this time in mid-air. Alexandrian forces are now coming to the defense of the city in chaos. More lightning bolts can be seen intercepting the fire bombs that were hurtling across the sky. But not all of the balls of fire were hit, and some do hit the ground, most likely causing huge casualty.

        Soldiers are beginning to move in on your location, heading towards where the fireballs are coming from. Just as you were about to continue, you hear a loud and terrible roar from ahead. As you look, you see a wall of dust hurtling itself at incredible speed towards your location. You can do very little but brace for impact... (Roll fort DC 12. Fail take 30)

Munch digs his clawed toes into the cobblestones and shuts his eyes with a click. Dust seldom bothers the metal man, though his stubby little wings flutter and tug in the blast. A blast to put some strain on the clung to cobblestones, but none break free... this time.

        The goblin seems quiet happy to stand behind Munch...yet again. He has his weapon ready, but so far...there has been nothing to shoot! The annoyance on the goblins face is quite apparent, he even makes a small growl.

The wall of dust catches Moonshadow off guard and she takes in a mouthful before she's able to shut her mouth. She coughs loudly as she keeps running, but she's not moving as fast as she was.

Lorien stands up a bit after a little, and then grunts, as he shakes his head, "Ugh, they keep up with it," he says, as he nods, "We should brace," he offers. Then eventually, they have dealings with the wall and he heaves a sigh and closes his mouth, covers his eyes, making his way with the group, managing and keep away from too much roughness.

Sandstorms aren't too uncommon in the desert where Kojot grew up in, but are quite rare in Alexandria. Still, old training dies hard, and he hunkers down for a moment while the dust goes by. "Once I find the ones responsible for this, I'm going to tear them a new one," he spits, getting the grit out of his mouth. "Or several, really."

When the dust and debris finally settled, you see that your area is in ruins. All the buildings have been broken and burned, and almost everyone else is dead. Including the soldiers that were sent to locate the source of the devastation. You hear the sound of distant booms once again, and are certain that there are fiery orbs hurtling across the skies once more.

You have no doubt that in a matter of minutes, Alexandria will be no more. Its hope lies in your ability to stop that which is making all the destruction. And to do that, you have to go to where the explosion originated...

        As you get further towards your destination, you feel a faint rumbling of the ground, occurring in intervals. Something large is approaching your location. As you scan ahead of you and into the dust fog that destruction has raised, you see a large figure coming into view. When it comes out of the cloud of dust, you see an extremely large oruch. A giant of its kind, with a great battle axe carried on its shoulder. It surveys its surrounding, an evil grin on its lips as it sees the death and carnage all around it. And then it sees you.

        "Fresh Meat!"

Munch hehs, drawing his own blade. "Took the words right out of my mouth, fat boy."

Kojot tilts his head back and forth, as if limbering it up. "Finally, someone I can take my frustration out on," he grins.

Moonshadow smirks at Munch. 'You lead the way in, Munch....I'll see what I can do about getting around to its back."

        The goblin nods, stepping out from behind Munch now. He adjust dials, the power pak glowing a faint green before a blast of electric goop is fired at the creature, shocking it somewhat. The goblin has no comment, just wants to kill it quickly.

The orc spots Moonshadow moving to flank it. It smiles as it singles it out and spins his double axe over his head in glee. And as it gets near the oruch monk, it swings hard, hitting her with the blade of its axe...

Moonshadow is literally knocked backwards by the blade of the axe, and rather than stay close to the orc, she stays WELL away from it's reach.....

Lorien draws out his shotgun artificer ray and hefts that up towards the orc, as he shifts a bit and prepares to take it on with the others, still a bit roughened up, and then takes a clean shot.

Munch clicks his heels together, a shower of rainbow sparklers swirling around his feet as the metal man moves in. Drawing back his blade, Munch's limbs swell with chemical power, bulging in mass as his axe cuts through air and flesh, ripping a hole in the flaming monster.

        The goblin seems intent on just blasting away at the giant ork. He switches a dial, and the color of the energy pak turns to blue. A ray of frost is blasted out to hit the thing, hopefully doing some damage.

The orc is really feeling the pain now. "I will burn your women and eat your houses! Rawr!" And it swings its axe at Kojot, hitting him. It tries to bite him, but Kojot's armour is tough enough to deal with the sharp teeths.

GAME: Moonshadow used a Potion of Cure Light Wounds.

Moonshadow really isn't looking all too great for her first outing against something this strong. She takes a swig of the potion she had stored away, then crushes the bottle and moves a little closer....and hoping Munch and Kojot can keep it's attention for a little longer.

Lorien hefts up the weapon and then takes another clean shot, grunting a bit as he seems to take the brunt of that alright.

Munch snorts at the monster. "Not if I eat you first." And then the golem... unleashes the fury. A blur of arching blade, flashing fangs, and a spray of firey gore. It leaves a chunk missing from the Orc, who somehow manages to remain standing.

        The goblin glares at the giant creature, adjusting dials on his armor and weapon again. A few clicks of a dial for range, another to switch the power pak to green again, and finally a blast of green electric goo is fired off at the monster. Is it enough???

The Orc takes a shot from Klythos and blinks as it passes between its eyes. It wonders why there is blood seeping down to his nose, and shakes its head. It looks at Kojot and says, "Look! Loook! I am your father!" And then it attacks Kojot with his axe... but misses.

Flaming orc topples over, dead...

GAME: Munch ends his rage.

"I'm orcish from my /mother's/ side of the family," Kojot snorts, kicking the flaming orc.

        Klythos nods to himself, powering down his weapon, then looking around. "Next?" That’s his simple response, perhaps suggesting they move along now.

There is a loud roar not so far from your position, and you can feel the familiar rumbling of the ground that preluded the appearance of the orc you have felled just now... Whatever is coming, will be coming soon...

Munch sighs and slumps a little as his Overdrive system deactivates, a few jets of noxious, but non-toxic, vapours steaming from his deflating limbs. True to his word, the golem grabs a handful of flesh, consuming it with idle consideration. The gore covering the metal man quivers a moment, and begins to flow, leaving clean scales behind as the blood streams along to the Axe... where it soaks into the leathery handle. "Yeah. Best check out that other.... whatever it was. Massive frost bunny, or something."

Grunting loudly, Moonshadow holds her side as the orc fell. She says something particularly nasty about the orc's mother in the orc's native language before she feels the rumbling. "ugh. "Can someone help me, please?" She says wandering her way towards the others.

Kojot groans and swigs a potion. "Well, sooner we face it, sooner we can kill it," he sighs.

Lorien heaves out a sigh, and then shakes his head a bit, as he moves about to try and relax, "Ugh," he says, as he moves with the group.

GAME: Munch used a Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds.

Munch nods in agreement, scratching at his scalp a moment before tugging free a leathery 'dreadlock'. The golem squeezes the paste inside over his wounds, the injuries sealing over, but not quite disappearing.

        The goblin looks around, moving over to Moonshadow and putting a little device on her...that promptly stabs her with chemicals to make her feel a little better....besides the stabbing part.

Over the horizon, coming into view past the wafting dust and smoke, is another huge creature similar to the one you have encountered earlier. Where as the first one was overly excited to come into battle, this one is a bit more cautious and looks the group through narrow slits. It waits for the group to make the first move. (Distance 60 feet)

Kojot closes in, keeping an eye on this latest orc. With Munch attacking from one side, the half-orc circles like a desert-wolf, preparing to strike.

 The orc takes the hit from Munch, his face turned away by the attack. He slowly turns his head to look at the war golem and scowls. It begins to say something strange as its eyes glow red. And then it attacks Munch with its great axe intent on destroying it... (Smite good)

The cool orc attacks Munch and hits him well...

Lorien hefts up the ray and takes a clean shot towards the new creature, with a sigh, "This is tedious," he says.

Klythos narrows his eyes at the next one, noting how hard the group got hit last time. He turns a few dials on his armor, a hum coming from it and a faint crackle of electricity running along the arms and legs. He then moves back a bit, keeping his distance.

Munch eyes the massive axe for a moment, but keeps his focus on the wielder, his own blade and fangs tearing out a few apparently vital organs from the silly foe.

And vital organs they were indeed.  The catious oruch giant falls to the ground with a loud thud.  

Then the sun above is suddenly eclipsed by something. 

Lorien sighs as he glances a bit towards the sky, and frowns at that.

"/Now/ what?" groans Kojot, looking towards the sky.

Everything goes dark....

When you awaken, you are in the carriage where you first awoke... Everything looks the same on the outside except that you looked pretty banged up. Whatever happened before has happened to you, but not to the city. 

You then hear something inside your head, a whisper...



"You should not have saved me."
