Well, those creatures weren't exactly looking friendly to begin with, and the cavalier wasn't taking any chances at this point. Zofi turned to one of them, and the griffon she was riding charged down the creature, sending the large hammer crashing into the hammer, and the creature between it and the wood. The brown griffon pounces too, sinking their beak into part of it.
"Keep those people safe back there, and watch out! There might be more of them still." The arvek-nar shouts backwards.
"Raise shields," Bob's voice offers a clipped bit of Kulthina as he twists two halves of a mechanical sphere in opposite directions. It glows blue and he sockets it into a pauldron. A semi-transparent hexagonal mesh spreads out from the socket before fading out of view. As the rain continues to fall the droplets splash against the blue glow here and there, creating a dancing cascade of light as he moves forward.
More whirring, more hissing, and a quiet clank as he stomps up in front of and to one side of the precious cargo. Both arms piston out in a quick tests before he raises his oversized titan fists in a boxing stance, shoulders forward. <kulthian>
"We wield artifice against the dark. Never again to forge the abominations of Kulthus." Shadowed blue eyes scan the lurking animate dead. "Fortified by the armor of contempt."

Red eyes. These undead lurch forward, dressed in tatters and rags. With the way their clothes look, they've probably been dead years rather than anything recent. Still, they surge towards Shrike and Zofija, who presented themselves as the first target. The steed's armor protects it to some extent and skillful riding do the rest, but Slixvah isn't so lucky with a pallid, rotten fist slamming into her. They can feel the icy touch of the dead sapping their life force.

Dirk's eyes get wide as the dead walk. "By me father's beard!" he yelps, bringing up his rifle into firing position. He snaps from target to target, trying to draw a bead. When he sees one going for Slixvah, that makes his decision for him. He locks his gaze on the lurching deadite, squeezing the trigger. CHK-BOOM! His thunderbelcher kicks in his arms, and a bloody chunk of the wight turns into red-colored mist as the bullet its it full on. "Back off, overbite!" he snarls, racking the action on his rifle to spit out the spent shell.
GAME: Slixvah used a Wand of Mage Armor.
Slixvah, the Egalrin lass with a Gyroparasol in one hand and a wand in other, suddenly gasps as her ride flings itself into the fray. The feathers on her wings elongate out like a pulled roll of ribbon as they go along, and wrap around the saddle to hold on. "A warnin' next time, Muscles!" she chirps out before hopping off the back of Screech.
And in that hop, she feels her bones ache and her very being wither as a fist collides with her side. She gasps, landing in the wet ground, talons slurching as she waves the wand about. "Atn'c oucth hsit," she chants before shakily booping herself with it on the beak. Her feathers ruffle and firm up, ready to absorb blows. ".. w... what was... what that...?" she pants, looking unnerved as her normally colorful feathers look weathered and worn.
She steels herself, and shouts out, "Take them down one at a time! Focus fire!"

Shilde barks out a command in dwarven, translating looslely as "protect!" or possibly "guard!" or even "shield!" as she points at the gryphon, then she spreads her hands to her side, dropping her head slightly as she begins to chant in druidic. As she does so, despite the light rain, strands of hair begin to float upwards.
GAME: Aavhash rolls 2d6+6: (10)+6: 16
Aavhash wasn't with the group when they departed, but she had heard rumor of undead traveling in a pack in the woods. She was sent to learn, but, the Deathdancer has rules when it comes to dealing with the undead.
So she hunted. She tracked them to the best of her ability. She didn't however manage to catch them before they had come across another band of adventurers. She'd drawn her blade so as to not be unarmed when she finally caught them and hearing the shouts she charged.
Out of the woods the lean graceful but tall form of Aavash comes charging out of the woods. She has a greatsword in two hands, it's blade flashing silver in the light it catches and gleams as she hews into one of the undead as she finishes her charge, "Don't let them surround you." She calls out in her sibilant voice.
Trizia squawks. "What the hell are wights doing otu here?!"
Seems she recognizes them, in any evnet, and quickly casts a magical shield on herself. Her goblin companion draws his dagger from his sheath and waves it at the wights as the two of them back their phantasmal steed up.

"Shit, sorry Slix. Didn't want them getting the jump." The Arvek-nar grunts in apology as Slixvah moves back. Though her reaction puts the cavalier ill at ease. Realizing the danger somewhat, the cavalier spends much of her time avoiding the swings from the creatures, with little time to swing back.
Screech is completely torn between tacking and wanting to avoid touching these things at all. Just look at what they did to that Egalrin's feathers! The griffon snaps and swipes at the wights, ineffectively as it avoids going anywhere near their hands.

The artifice-clad Cerenzan has malicious undead in his face. Its melee-thrashings conjure up the semi-transparent shield of blue, glowing shapes in the middle distance between them. His pauldrons clank as he rolls his shoulders, gauntlets whirring as he clenches his fists tighter.
With a quick whine and the expulsion of steam the matrices of the aetherite crystals begin to glow and throw off sparks, the copper threading running between the plates turn red-hot.
The first fist comes straight across, crunching into half-rotten flesh and bones with a meaty crack. The second fist follows with an uppercut but the creature has staggered too far! WHOOSH it goes, missing!

Dirk breaks the action on his rifle, scooping into his hip satchel for a fresh round. He slaps it into the breech and gives a practiced flick of his wrist to snap the action back into place. Swinging it up, he racks the slide to prime the chamber, training his sights on the melee. "All right, you rottin' shitbags, who's next?" he growls as he peers down the barrel.
<OOC> Slixvah says, "from behind zofija, I'm going to cast cure moderate wounds and deliver it via prehensile hair at reach. then use a move action to baaaaack the hell up"
The five wights are now looking battered in some cases... well ... more battered, as they were corpses in the first place. Pallid corpses in various shapes and sizes. Now that you've had a chance to study them longer, unfortunately close up, you can see they're all human, their faces conroted in twisted visages of death and hunger.
Still, only Robert has a real blow scored against him, one that seems to find purchase and knock him back a little while it saps his life 's energy.

Slixvah ducks low and under, clutching at her chest as the fleeting sensation of life ebbing is new and raw. She grinds her beak as one spindly section of ribbon-like tendrils of feathers coalceses behind her. "Erakme ot nuerame!" she shouts, the feathers glowing a pure white as they slam into a wight, searing the un-flesh with its opposed energy.
And, like a bird, she bolts the hell out of that situation. "Keep the focus up!" she shouts out, eyes darting about as she constructs a plan.

While Rocky continues to harass the wights that are attempting to swarm the better part of the group, Shilde raises her arms up. The hair not bound in her braid is at full extention now, and her eyes are glowing with blue-white light... and then a bolt of lightning crashes from the gathered clouds above to blast into one of the wights right beside Screech.

As lightning and... was that hair? Feathers? This is a chaotic mess but one of the Wight's falls to return to just dead state, and not undead state. Aavhash notices Robert being a bit overwhelmed. She steps to the side and hisses loudly at the Wight, "Fight me!" And to add emphasis to her words, she tries to 'distract' the Wight, by hacking into it with a vicious slash of a huge chunk of sharpened metal, hacking a chunk of flesh out of the undead. Maybe some ribs. It's all elementary when it's undead really.
GAME: Whirlpool rolls 2d4+3: (6)+3: 9
Protected by your efforts so far, Trizia quickly incants a spell of her own. Twin bolts of magical energy strike one of the wights, wounding it severely.
She's looking quite terrified, actually.

Screech was still being much too careful with trying to prod the wights to get too much done. "It's not going to hurt you unless it's actively attacking you. But we have to get these things dealt with before things get too bad." The Arvek-nar grunts. They heft their hammer back up and over the one harrying Robert, and the hammer falls, pounding the wight into the ground.

Dirk brings up his rifle and tracks one of the wights, his focus sharp as a razor. Between one breath and the next, he squeezes the trigger. CHK-BOOM! The recoil of the shot kicks back in his arms, and the shot goes somewhat wide. Rather than the satsifying meaty chunks from his last attack, this one only grazes a line of gore from his target. "Arrgh, -damn- it!" he grumbles, racking the slide to eject the spent shell.
Slixvah shudders, steeling herself. Her hand vanishes into the robe and- oh no she's GOT A KNIFE!
She jabs it forward, twisting it down and panting. "C'mon baby, don't fail me now..." she mutters to herself, cutting more jagged lines into nothingness.
Something unseen twangs.
"Aha! Uhhh, what was your na- whatever! Blackscale! Fuckin' send it!"
For naught a fleeting moment, it feels like the planets aligned.
Twisting luck that hard totally isn't going to kick her tail feathers later

The rain and the guns and the yelling and the clashing are making for a very loud encounter; Rocky's growling snarls are almost lost in the din. Using his massive size, he leaps upon one of the wights, locking his jaw around its neck and bearing it down to the ground. Meanwhile, safely from the back, Shilde continues to pull lightning from the sky and another bolt splits the air, thunder cracking and the acrid scent of ozone fills the immediate area.

Aavhash doesn't know anyone here either, so names are a bit of a guessing thing. She looks over at Slixvah and tilts her head to the side, "I recognize you." She does find the one person she recognizes but then steps to the side and lashes out, clipping one of the wights with the edge of her blade. It's not the hardest hit she's done tonight but it still gashes open dead flesh and she roars at the wight's again, trying to get their attention, to make them focus on her but... it's a pretty wild and hectic situation.
GAME: Whirlpool rolls 2d4+2: (5)+2: 7
With their numbers now more under control, Trizia is able to fire off another magic missile or two, slamming into an injured wight, piocking it up, and smashing it into a nearby tree. It slumps to the ground, finished.
There are only two of them left now, thankfully.
