It's a pretty busy day, being the market day for the city. Vendor stalls are set up everywhere they can find room, out front of their houses or other groups of buildings wherever they could get some space to put their wares on display. And you can hear the calls as people hawk their products through the cacophony of people walking around and talking to the various vendors:
"Buy a pot, no finer pot in brass or silver!"
"Sugar dates. Sugar dates and figs. Sugar dates and pistachios."
"How about a necklace? Pretty necklace for pretty lady!"
"Fresh Fish! We catch 'em, you buy 'em!"
"What lovely grapes."
"You call this bacon?!"
Ferrah comes to the market every once in a while to buy something nice for herself. Being an adventurer has given her a lot more spending money than she knows what to do with, so now the half-orc is going about looking at boots. "How much for this?" She asks, holding up a pair of sturdy looking boots that would last her a lifetime. Upon hearing the answer she puts the boots down. "For that price you might as well be asking me to sell my mother!"
"What a beautiful day!" Dubtle is happy and all smiles as he taps his quarterstaff along through the markte. A fat raven sits on his shoulder as he explores. Cheerfully.

The two of you are around the same area, a couple buildings with alleys off the sides in between them, a small square with five different roads coming off from it. The chatter carries along before it is shattered by a woman's scream. You are quickly able to locate the source, a body flying out of the second story of one of the buildings to come to rest on the ground, unmoving. The bloodpool from the body grows as it starts to seep into the ground.
The cobbler is about to retort with something about his own mother when he stops short, hearing the scream. Ferrah turns to look at what got the man distracted, and seeing the body being flung from the second story window she mutters, "Hells." She rushes towards the building where the body came from, jumping over the pool of blood to rush up to the second story.
A similar curse is Khazad is let loose by Dubtle. He runs towards the source of the commotion too. He quickly kneels by the body to see if he can help. He does have some healing magic, after all.
The body is clearly dead, the eyes already starting to glaze over as the light behind them has gone out. As Ferrah starts to rush up towards the second story of the building, there are some surprised people in the building as she dashes into it. The stairs are off to the left through a small archway and go up to a landing and then back up to the second floor, where a door rests closed.
Ferrah doesn't even bother seeing if the door is unlocked. She just charges against it with her shoulder, hoping to burst it open.
"Whe--," and then Ferrah is doing... /that/. Dubtle goes after her, yelping.
GAME: Ferrah rolls perception: (6)+6: 12 GAME: Dubtle rolls Perception: (2)+2: 4
The door is closed but not barred in any way as it goes flying open, putting Ferrah in the room where the woman fell from. The room is about twenty feet by twenty five feet, though a couple of hanging blankets have been put up to seperate it into a few spaces. The one closest to the window that the woman went out has been pulled to one side, and that is over to your right as you come through the door, turning to face out to the square. There is another curtain hung over to the left hand side that is still waving back and forth as if blowing in some non-existent breeze.
As Dubtle comes charging to the building, he could swear he saw something shift in the alleyway but when he looks back, there is nothing there. Instead, he can hear a voice yelling at him from inside the house as a dwarf male dressed in a pair of breeches held up by suspenders and no shirt on looks at him, a pair of dwarven childen behind him. "Ya and ya'r.... Pet," he says spitting in the direction of the stairs Ferrah passed early, "Think ya can just come into people's homes and do as ya bloody please, don'tcha?"
Ferrah narrow her eyes and pulls at the still waiving curtain to see what's behind it, hoping to find whoever it was that threw the body out the window. It's probably a good thing, though, that she isn't downstairs to hear the dwarf call her a pet.
"...'scuse me?" says Dubtle. "A man just was thown bodily from a window and that's your concern? Please keep yourselves safe and don't you dare call that lady anyone's pet --I think she'd probably traumitize." The raven squawks.
The still waiving curtain is covering a small nook set up by a window that leads out to the alleyway. A small table, some pillows on a bench and one on the floor, and a tea setting adn a few candles resting on the ledge.
The dwarf just shrugs his shoulders and chuckles. "Ah, so the noisy broad is dead?" he says and smiles, "Maybe now my kids will get to sleep the whole night through." He turns back towards the room and pulls the kids along with him.
<OOC> Ferrah says, "Is the window open?" <OOC> Ansrir says, "Yup" <OOC> Dubtle says, "THe body was male or female, Ansrir?" <OOC> Ansrir says, "Female"
Ferrah rushes over to the window, and peers out of it, looking up the alleyway to see if the culprit fled the scene that way.
"...! SIR"! Dubtle is mortified by the other khazad's words. That is most ungentlemanly! Still, he goes up after Ferrah at this point.
There is a figure out in the alleyway, dressed in a dark blue leggings and a green tunic. Long blonde hair is tied back into a ponytail. The figure is charging towards a wall at the end of the alley, bouncing off a wall and onto a box to start climbing on the wall.
Ferrah bellows out, "HEY, STOP!" at the figure, and she, herself leaps out the window to give chase.
<OOC> Ansrir says, "Acrobatics check please." <OOC> Ferrah just soaks the damage. :D GAME: Ferrah rolls acrobatics: (7)+0: 7
"...go with them," says Dubtle to the fat raven on his shoulder as he sees Ferrah go out the window, having arrived just in time for that. The raven squawks in protest but does as told. Familiars. Who needs 'em?
Ferrah makes it to the ground, stumbling slightly but managing to stay up. She is about twenty feet behind the figure who looks over their shoulder as he sits atop the wall, glancing back at Ferrah as she calls out to him, just shaking their head and dropping off onto the other side of the wall.
Ferrah charges the wall, hoping her superior strength will make up for the fact that she.... just isn't built or trained for this kind of thing. The wall is far enough that she can prepare, and she leaps at it like a mighty... something.
<OOC> Ansrir would say another acrobatics check if you're leaping at the wall. Are you trying to just leap as high as you can? Like a running high jump? <OOC> Ferrah is. <OOC> Ansrir says, "There is various detritus to climb on if you would prefer to do that instead. Might take a bit longer, but easier than trying to leap it. Up to you." <OOC> Ferrah says, "BARBARIAN LEAP!"
GAME: Ferrah rolls acrobatics: (11)+0: 11
<OOC> Ansrir says, "Odd or Even?" <OOC> Ferrah says, "Odd!" GAME: Ansrir rolls 1d6: (2): 2 <OOC> Dubtle Will take the longer way around and have his familiar follow.
Ferrah goes charging down the alleyway, building up a good amount of speed as she leaps towards the wall. Her fingers just seem to get below the lip of the ledge as she scratches at the wll before falling. However, she doesn't fall as far as she might expect as her feet thunk on an empty barrel that was stored here, perhaps for collecting water or something. She now stands off the ground, the wall in reach of her were she to jump again, easily getting to pull herself up.
<OOC> Ansrir nods. "Go ahead and pose it. Your familiar is following the figure then, while you go around another way?
<OOC> Dubtle says, "Yeah, because Dubtle can't do what Ferrah did."
Ferrah curses loudly as she just aaaallllmost made it, and she leaps at the edge again, to pull herself up and over and resume the chase. Hopefully she can still see where the guy is going.
"Go, go," says Duble to the bird. And go it does! Flapping into the night! Dangerously! Duble tromps back down the stairs and runs after.
<OOC> Ansrir says, "Perception check fro Ferrah and the bird, assuming it has different perception score than Duble" GAME: Ferrah rolls perception: (18)+6: 24
<OOC> Ferrah says, "Oh yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Ferrah *knows* these back alley streets. This is where she grew up after all."
<OOC> Dubtle looks up! GAME: Dubtle rolls 1d20+6: (9)+6: 15
The bird and Ferrah are able to catch a glimpse of the same figure as it darts around the corner at the end of the alley and turns left, heading now towards the northern city gate it would seem, at least assuming that they were interested in fleeing the city.
Ferrah sprints down the alleys, figuring she can keep this faster pace up longer than her quarry. Still, just in case, she grabs a loose brick from a building and, if she gets a clear shot, will hurl it at him to slow him down.
In the meantime, Dubtle is just trying to keep up. Those hairy khazad legs were not made for long distane running.
Ferrah rounds the corner to see him moving through the crowd. She might be able to get a good shot with the brick if her aim is true. Meanwhile Dubtle, following on the last known location and whatever information his familiar might be able to provide, he keeps working to catch up with the two on the chase.
<OOC> Ferrah says, "Yeah. Gonna hurl the brick." <OOC> Ansrir says, "Roll a ranged attack. Are you proficient in brick, whatever class of weapon that might be under?" <OOC> Ferrah says, "It's an improvised weapon, so no. :D" <OOC> Ansrir says, "So, make an attack roll, and let's see if you can get this guy so stoned he can't stand up straight."
GAME: Ferrah rolls ranged: (4)+4: 8
<OOC> Ferrah snnnnrk. <OOC> Ansrir says, "Odd or even?" <OOC> Ferrah says, "Odd!" GAME: Ansrir rolls 1d6: (3): 3
Ferrah says a silent prayer to Althea, and hurls the brick at the guy before he can get into the crowd. She winces when she sees that her aim is less than spectacular, and redoubles her efforts to catch up. "Not smart, Ferrah," she mutters under her panting breath.
The brick is thrown and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have the power and control to make it to the target, who you see dart down a side sreet as the brick is tossed. Fortunately however, it does manage to just miss a Lucht Siuil female as she rounds the corner just after the brick tumbles to the dirt. She seems to be oblivious to how close to a different fate that she had been.
"Huff huff huff..." Dubtle is panting. He is kind of a wuss, to be honest.
<OOC> Ansrir says, "So, what now, darting down the alley after the figure?" <OOC> Ferrah says, "I am, yeah." <OOC> Dubtle is still trying to keep up! GAME: Dubtle rolls athletics: (7)+1: 8 <OOC> Dubtle fex.
The figure turns down into the side street and then ducks into a doorway into a building about three doors ahead of you on the street. Now that they are out of sight you cannot know exactly what they are doing until you acquire them again.
Ferrah rushes madly towards the door, trying to catch up, and once again, just kind of sets her shoulder to break through it instead of testing to see if it's open or not.
With his raven in the sky, Dubtle continues to chase after Ferrah! He can help1 REally! ... when he gets there.
There is no door so Ferrah goes charging through into the building. There is a door to the left, one straight ahead and a set of stairs leading up straight ahead as well.
Dubtle can see the other end of the street the figure darted into as he rounds an adjoining street, getting closer as he keeps running. "HEY! YOU STOP!" Duble yells after the figure when he spots him! Having a bird to go as the bird flies does help.
Ferrah pauses, looking at her options, but when she hears Duble shout, she turns and runs in /that/ direction. After all, what are the odds that there are two people who need to be stopped?
It is a good thing that the bird is following him as the figure is currently darting along the rooftops of the street, having slid out of a upper level window. The options for the figure at this point are either up the street towards Dubtle or down the street towards Ferrah, though both of the pursurers are on ground level so that is a bit of an advantage.
"Up there! You! Stop!" Dubtle's bird can talk, being a raven, and it even shouts too, "STOOOOP!" Well, squawks really.
Ferrah dashes outside and looks wildly about, until she hears the raven above her. She looks up to see the guy up on the roofs and curses. She grabs something, anything heavy, really, and tosses it at the culprit, hoping to knock him off his balance or, even better, off the room. "If this doesn't work..." she growls.
GAME: Ferrah rolls ranged: (1)+4: 5 (EPIC FAIL)
It is almost like watching a Rube Goldberg machine being set in motion with this toss. It flies up, bounces off the roof, causing a few ceramic tile shingles to slide off of it as the tossed object bounces over to another roof and clips a gargoyle statue sitting there, the head beginning to wobble from the force smacking into it. As Ferrah leaps out of the way of the falling shingles, she lands right under a balcony as the garogle head gives way with an audible cracking sound. Instinctually, she looks up only to be given a stone headbutt.
"STOP!" Dubtle then begin to intone a more forceful spell to try to make the do just that.
GAME: Dubtle casts Hold Person. Caster Level: 3 DC: 15 GAME: Ansrir rolls 1d20+1: (13)+1: 14
The spell begins to take effect as the figure stumbles mid-step and thus falls to the ground as their body siezes up by the force of the spell. They are now lying on the rooftop, unable to move as the arcane energies hold them in place.
It won't last long. Dubtle casts another spell on himself, trying to grow to a huger size so that he can reach up and pull her off the roof!
GAME: Dubtle casts Enlarge Person. Caster Level: 3 DC: 14
GAME: Ansrir rolls 1d20+1: (4)+1: 5
Struggle as they might, they just can't seem to break free as the giant figure starts to get closer. Not quite tall enough to completely reach the figure from the ground, Dubtle could very easily climb up to the roof and then get in range.
Which he is going to try to do, carefully. "You're under arrest, sir, for murder." He tries not to break anything on the way up.
GAME: Dubtle rolls athletics+2: (18)+1+2: 21

Apparently, the figure can't break out of whatever has been done to it as it just lies there, as if awaiting its fate at the hand of the large figure coming to get them. There is the sound of some creaking and buckling as the roof is not meant to hold this much weight in one area for excessive amounts of time, but nothing has started to give way just yet.
Wincing, Dubtle reaches out for the figure and attepts to pull them down to the ground an deposit them there. "GUARDS," he booms."GUARDS!'
<OOC> Ansrir says, "Odd or Even?" <OOC> Dubtle says, "Odd!" GAME: Ansrir rolls 1d6: (4): 4
The figure begins to stir in your hands as you move it down to the ground, the spell wearing off it seems. There is sound of guards being mobilized towards your position, but they may take a bit of time to get to you.
"Stay down or I'll simply paralyze you again," says Dubtle, threateningly, to the figure on the ground.
GAME: Dubtle rolls Intimidate: (12)+7: 19 GAME: Ansrir rolls 1d20+1: (13)+1: 14
Being chased and caught, especially by a magic using dwarf of all things, your quarry seems to have given up the fight. As you have them close, you get a really good look at them. They are human, long blonde hair tied back in a ponytail and light grey eyes with flecks of a deeper purple through them. There is a bit of wear on the face, but not too weathered by the ravages of time. Their figure is extremely lithe and agile, given the movements they made to get away from you it is not surprising.
"You're under arrest for the murder of.. of... whoever that was! YOu stay right there!" Dubtle keeps pointing at them.
Soon enough, the guards come and given your statement start to haul the man away. You do get one of the guard officers looking at you and adds, "Be careful casting magic in the city limits, it could be you we were arresting for killing people if that building gave way," he says sternly, watching for your reaction.
"I was careful," says Dubtle, "The last thing I wanted was anyone to get hurt." He's firm on that front. He lets them take that poor individual away.
