Plodding along slowly, D'Alaron, the long man wearing the lagoon-blue cloak, clasped over one shoulder, and helmet with short red plume rides along on his black war horse, his head drifting between his shield and his sword, deciding which one to sell first. Work was harder to find, then all that- His thoughts are inturrupted with the large explosion, as his mount skitters fearfully, and only with some skillful control is kept in check. Clicking his tounge twice, the cavalryman spurs his horse forward towards the explosion, manuvering about the throngs ov people moving away from it. "I'll teach you about artillery yet, but you'll have to be brave and soldier ahead." He says to the horse, normally fast progress impededed, by, well, other people. |

Carsten pauses to get his bearings, but his dash is anything but restrained or dignified. He charges directly for the sounds of Trouble and Danger, eyes wide. Usually something like this is extra weird or extra bad, where he comes from. He's careful to try not to add panic or jostle people about, though -- it's likely chaoti enough already. |

You paged Vala with 'The smoky air smells of superheated metal, like a blacksmith's forge. There's no hint of chemical explosives. It almost smells like someone just set a block of iron aflame without accelerants somehow.' |

When not distracted by alien kitties with tentacles, Vala can dance down the street with a considerable alacrity. She shifts her bag to her shoulder, the strap biting into her dark garments. The spiral cut of the skirt permits her to attain a greater speed than suffering from a hobbling effect, a delight and complement to seamstresses everywhere. Her indirect path favours a serpentine motion. "The forge," she calls out in her lilting accent. "Fire's a problem. Can someone find a source of water, in case something spreads?" |

Tannin looks up and around after the booms, the small cleric seemingly having had her hands full calming various draught stock, then looking back and forth as people elect whether or not to run toward the sound or away from it. The Sister seems to take a moment to figure out which is which, but it doesn't take terribly long. She makes her way that way, stoppping fto buttonhole an equally0bewildered city guardsman. "Buckets. Or a water-wizard. Soon, I think. Keep everyone else calm. " She bustles her way over in that direction. |

The store seems quite normal, really, with the front door unlocked. There are several cases of items on display, an unmanned sales counter, and a sign displaying a large list of prices for various sorts of commissioned work. After a few seconds, a heavy iron door in the back swings open. Black smoke pours from inside, obscuring much of the interior. A gnomish man, covered head to toe in black soot, dives out and throws his weight against the door to shut it, coughing and sputtering as he tries to rub the soot from his spectacles. It takes him a moment to even realize the horrible noises and rumbles have even attracted anyone to the shop. "Oh! Uhm. Store's closed at the moment, sorry. Technical difficulties in the workshop. Best come back tomorrow." There is another loud boom. "Or, er. Maybe next week." |

Carsten arrives, drawing up to the scene of post-blastiness and much smoke. He casts his gaze about to see if anyone has escaped the building before calling out, "Hello, there! Is anyone inside? Shout if you can hear me!" Yes, there are people there. Yes, he still shouts. People get deaf after loud noises, after all, right? |

REaching the building as others are opening the door, the D'Alaron takes a more cautious route, taking his mount along the edges of the building, and examing all sides for signs of fire or other damage, or any signals, making his way speedily about, peering cautiously into dark windows. Coming back around to the front, he peers at the gnome who leaps out of the door, "Do you need assistance? Will your difficulties endanger the surrounding shops?" He says, using his bestest, deepest Cavalierish voice, "It seems like there's quite the blaze." |

Sonja says, "More like explosions." She then looks towards the gnome and ducks under one of the taller overhangs. "You do realize that those explosions drew not only me towards here, but others as well? We thought a building collapsed!" She almost yells at the gnome, before shaking her head. "Is everyone all right?"" |

− | Vala elects not to join the bucket brigade she suggested for water, and calling up a rainstorm falls to some other capable soul. She, on the other hand, listens to the boom that ends up rattling the plentiful hidden gewgaws on her person and beckons more attention. "Is this something you have under control? Your technical difficulties cause alarm outside, and I would hate for there to be a fuss." |

The gnome looks sheepish at the questions, particularly the blunt one from Selia. "Oh, uhm, well... I was conducting a little experiment involving my latest invention. Quite promising, really. But it doesn't seem to have..." A very loud crashing sound echoes from behind the iron door to the workshop. "... it doesn't seem to be, ah, working exactly as intended. Must have crossed a wire somewhere." D'Alaron's question earns a mixture of embarassment and hope. "Oh! You lot are... adventurer sorts? Oh, that's wonderful! Maybe if you could, ah, sort out what's going on in there, shut the machine off? I'd gladly pay for the trouble, really. Just be careful, it might be a little..." There's a sound like glass breaking. "... A little dangerous in there." Sonja's questions make him look a little more nervous. "Yes, well... the workshop is designed for containment in case of catastrophic disaster. But, uhm... I really would feel much better if professionals could take a look just in case?" |

Tannin comes along, drawing up alongside Sonja, as the group of concerned citizens approach the smoky building. Looks about, then to the gnome. Says, after a pause. "Master craftworker. I thin it would go the better if you'd tell us what's happened. Or, perhaps, you could tell the authorities. But what's in there must be of import to you, thus... In what manner can it be helped?" |

Despite the alarming situation, the gnome seems all too happy to launch into an answer to Citarus' question, his enthusiasm obvious. "Oh, well, it's quite revolutionary! It's a modification of a standard summoning device. We've pretty much got a handle on using the arcane to summon typical denizens of the elemental planes for menial tasks. This engine is supposed to summon more specialized creatures with specific qualities suited for particular roles, such as operating in extremely cold or muddy environments. It works quite well, actually!" He sounds almost proud here. "Got quite a number of them through. The only problem is..." There's another loud crash, which somewhat dampens his pride. "... Well, the summoned creatures are somewhat less obedient than one would hope. Rather angry, really. I suppose there's a small risk that... well, the machine might just continue pumping them out until disabled. So I suppose it would really be best to get that shut off as soon as possible." When Sonja approaches he moves to the side, allowing her to open the heavy iron door. Black smoke continues to pour out. "Erhm... thank you! Best of luck!" He calls to those headed inside. |

− | Watching on the other side of things, just as a caution, Vala stands at Sonja and tannin's shoulder. "The summoned creatures should probably view their work dimly, given the prospect of drudgery until release or worse," she murmurs. "There is a distinct danger in calling up a creature to do your bidding. I hope that you will consider the value of such an engine, and whether you would be better served paying wages to an employee or someone who is less likely to see being pulled here as a cause for rebellion." She elf's eyes narrow a little, and she examines her staff, the white finish sure to suffer for soot. Citarus' sibilant accent brings a curious look, and then she nods. "If there are angry being running around in a frenzy, an extra pair of hands to capture them would be welcome." |

D'Alaron is about to follow Sonja when he hears what the gnome has to say and pauses, blinking incrediously, "You built a machine that's just... /summoning/ things from another..." Bringing both hands up to his helmet, he unhooks a chinstrap, made to keep the thing on, "Just how angry have you made the poor things?" |

− | Once through the narrow passageway into the workshop, the air quality improves immensely. The area was clearly designed with ventilation in mind, as high ceilings and a series of vents channel smoke into the large chimney seen from outside and the passageway the group had to enter through. Combined with the room's high ceilings, this leaves the main workshop smoky, but with air clean enough to see and breathe. It's a very large space, probably at least sixty feet on each side. Minutes ago, this was likely an orderly and well organized artificer's laboratory, filled with every manner of machinery and tools. Now it is something different. Tables have been overturned, instruments smashed, inventions broken. The floor is littered with debris. Only one machine still seems to be operating: A glowing, churning mass of gears and glowing bulbs placed against the back wall which seems to be producing the bulk of the smoke. |

The culprits of this destruction are not difficult to spot. Four vaguely humanoid creatures, each roughly the size of an adult human, roam the workshop wreaking destruction and smashing everything they can possibly smash. One resembles a massive snakelike beast constructed of living ice. Another, a gorilla made of molten rock, with red glowing cracks across its exterior. The third is a dark cloud in the shape of a predatory bird, set apart from the smoke by rapid movements and crackling thunder pulsing through its form. The last resembles a massive frog made of thick, rippling mud, leaving puddles of ooze as it hops around the room. When the adventurers enter, all four pause in their rampant destruction, slowly turning to face the intruders. They do not look happy in the least. |

You paged (Citarus, Vala) with 'These are indeed a group of less common varieties of elementals. A mud elemental from the plane of earth, a magma elemental from the plane of fire, an ice elemental from the plane of water, and a lightning elemental from the plane of air. Like most elementals, they're extremely resilient, if not immune to forces native to their own planes, and use of opposing energies is often extremely effective. They aren't inherently evil, but have been known to resent summonings against their will when the summoning fails to induce obedience. They have only rudimentary intelligence, making communication near impossible.' |

Being the first into the dangerous workshop can be, well, dangerous. Sonja has not only the attention of the smoky bird, but of the froglike creature made of mud. It hops over with a sickening wet smacking sound, a muddy tonguelike protrusion emerging from its maw to whip at her fruitlessly. The icy snake slinks on over as well, diving in to bite Tannin's arm after he comes to the paladin's aid. The bite is painfully, punishingly cold, and it takes every ounce of fortitude to resist freezing at the very touch of the creature. |

With a gasp, Carsten charges in, rather heedless(some might say stupid) of the immediate hazards. He murmurs softly, words a gentle entreaty, and places a gently glowing hand on the shoulder of the wounded Tannin. "Oh, that looks bad. I mean, uhm, you'll be okay?" He blinks once. "And maybe get behind us?" |

A strangely catchy jingle of a rhyme starts to slip in from the main shop. "The clock ran twice round, twice round, the clock ran twice round, then none, for he'd found the wire and snipped it. Jammed the hinge, cut the pulley, jammed a sock where it bellows. Be it a clock, or be it a foe, the clever one socks it right where it bellows." It makes the automatons seem just a little less frightening, a little easier to beat. |

Hard, his skull thumping inside his helmet on the floor, as the various bits of tissue damage and extreme cold knock him unconscious. |

The ice snake, witnessing the demise of its feathered friend, takes its place almost immediately. It strikes and brings the full force of its frosty chill upon Sonja, though the paladin's resilience prevents the chill from slowing her overmuch. The attack still stings, however. Meanwhile, the mud frog seems to be trying to get past the table to Carsten and D'Alaron, lashing at the barrier with its thick tongue, coating it in greasy mud. |

Carsten's defensive position was well chosen. The table seems to be making an effective impedement not only to the muddy frog, but also to the rocky gorilla. The magma beast slams another fist into the furniture, failing to get through to the adventurers behind it. |

Citarus points his finger at the magma person, and fires off another ray of frost. Whether the magic missile sapped his energy, or because he moved, but for some reason his hand twitches... and the ray goes wildly off, striking part of the ceiling. "Dursssat!" he curses. |

Rousing from the additional healing spell, it takes D'Alaron a moment to clear his thoughts. Blinking he raises a hand to pat the human on the shoulder, before reaching behind him to the table and lifting himself up, taking stock of the scene, he swings at the nearest beastie, the mud frog, missing by a mile, still mostly disoriented. Ducking below the table for a bit of cover, he catches his breath, the healing energy of Tannin's abilities causing the frozen bits of skin to thaw, slowly. |

The strong blow from Sonja makes the fissures on the gorilla grow wider, revealing what looks like liquid magma coursing through it where blood should be. Glowing like a flame, the creature howls and flails at her, but fails to land a blow in its pained state. |

Carsten blinks when the gentle glow of divine protection coalesces around him. He casts a sideways glance to Tannin, grateful, before moving into a smashing molinet over the table, catching the frog with a telling blow and cleaving a large enough chunk from it to send the rest of it discorporating into a slimy mess. He puffs his cheeks out in some relief, looking to D'Alaron, then Sonja. |

Citarus pumps his fist in the air as he sees the mud frog splatter. Looking at the sole paraelemental, he flicks his wrist, sending off another bolt of energy. It flies true, and causes the magma elemental to lose cohesion as well, the magma rapidly cooling now that it lacks the magic to sustain it. "Yesss!" he exclaims. |

Tannin hrms, straightening a bit. "Well done, people. I don't want to alarm anyone, and 'm no expert on these gnomish things, but..." She points to where gears gnaw away at her buckler, "If we depart immediately, we might just run and dive for cover when that explodes. Anyone's choice." She dashes out the way they came. |

The blaring alarm that the machine has been making ever since Tannin shoved her shield in it reaches a high pitched creschendo. There's a screeching and grinding of metal as the gears suddenly spin wildly out of control. A bulb bursts, and one gear falls off the machine altogether to roll into the pile of broken machinery. |

Just seconds after the entire adventuring group is out of the store, a fiery explosion rips from the back of the workshop, erupting in flame and debris. A plume of fire erupts from the chimney, and the entire storefront fills with smoke and ash. Luckily, everyone ducked out just in time to make that dramatic rather than resulting in serious burns. The gnome, looking at his charred storefront, does not look significantly comforted by this. "... Dammit. That's going to take weeks to clean up." |

He pretty much pauses to cough and sneeze soot and ash in random directions. "Pfft. Peh. Augh. Really?" He eyes the gnome. |

Selerik stumbles a bit away from the blast, perhaps by reflex, perhaps not expecting it to be so large. He tips his hat to D'Alaron, before looking over to Sonja. "I imagine it is a good thing he keeps such a well secured workshop." A moment to clap his hands together, and Selerik is passing them over his clothes to remove the traces of grime and soot from the encounter. Accepting the help from Selerik, D'Alaron trys to speed up his pace to not hold the Paladin back, managing to make it out and avoid the explosion handily. BOOM! There's the sound of a rather large explosion coming from a couple blocks away, followed by some plumes of very black smoke pouring out of a chimney. This causes a few people to pause and look alarm, though there's no outright panic yet. Gnomes and artificers live around here after all, stranger things happen.
Sonja turns her head quietly towards the explosions and tilts her head. She looks towards Tannin relly quick before starting to jog right for the explosion, a couple of blocks away. And no, she doesn't ask.......
Selia doesn't even do alarm. The halfer didn't personally get hit by a shockwave, so isn't really her busniess. Then again, her busniess is getting involed in busniess that isn't her busniess, and now busniess no longer sound like a real word. Anyway, Selia makes her way towards the source of the explosion with casual curiousity, weaving her way thru the crowd between with practed ease.
Lost. Totally lost. Carsten scratches his head and puzzles through the most recent set of directions given to him. He was *sure* he tool that le-- Woah, what? Explosion? Thoughts of finding diner and a bathroom(possibly in that order) flee his mind and Carsten makes for the place he heard the booming and the rather visible plume of smoke. He hopes that isn't the inn he was trying to find.
A slender gap in the doorway to one of the myriad shops lining the stretch of Mill Street parts just enough for a ghost to slip one, one who manifests after the light and shadow strike an agreement. Shivering skirts whisper a bit of a quiet alarm as the little veiled elf peers around a supportive scrap of wall just in case projectiles hurtle in all directions. Vala exhales at the uncurling smoke dragons ascending for the sky, and her hands clench around her staff for a bit more support just in case. The surprise shaken off, she starts off at a graceful glide towards the explosion, which surely must signal the woman is either insane, hopelessly curious, or an adventurer, as only those sorts go towards trouble.
Citarus looks in alarm at the loud explosion, face not betraying anything. Rushing towards it, he keeps an eye out for people that may have been injured by the explosion.
The initial boom is followed up by another, slightly quieter one, though this one carries a sort of rumble that echoes through the street. It's not powerful enough to knock anyone off their feet or anything, but something is unmistakeably up inside that building with the chimney pouring black smoke.
Selia slows her travels a bit, not quite stopping, but making sure her gear is in place before moving on. Little more embarassing then leaping into a heroic pose, only to find your shirt isn't buttoned properly.
Citarus increases his pace, weaving past the people that are running away from the explosion. He sniffs at the air, trying to get a feel for what could have caused it.
Selerik blinks, stumbling a step away from the sound of the explosion by reflex. He looks off in that direction, seeming uncertain of what to do, but it is clear others are in a rush to get there. At less of a rush himself, he starts making his way in that direction. "Hopefully whatever it was, no one was hurt."
Sonja is moving quite a bit faster, now that she knows where the explosions are coming from. Apparently she's slightly aware that others are with her, she still makes her way for where she thinks the explosions are coming from.

Can someone find a source of water, in case something spreads?"
It doesn't take long to find the building which is the source of the unsettling sounds. It's a somewhat large building with a storefront facing the street. The colorful sign hanging in front reads 'Fizzlefuse's Artifice and Alchemy'. The storefront features a display of enchanted items, potions, and some more obscure tools and equipment which would likely only be identified by an actual artificer. Despite the great quantity of smoke pouring from the chimney, there's no sign of damage in the storefront area, though there is also no sign of the propreitor. Another boom and rumble verify that this must be the source of the trouble.
Selia pauses near the storefront, perhaps admiring the selection on display, or more likely wondering if she really wants to get involved with whatever's inside. "Oy, any ya na wot all dis fuss be 'bout?" she inquires, her accent dripping with Low Charnish.
Finding the door to the building with the explosions and just yanks the door open to see inside. "Hey! Anyone in here?" She yells out to anyone that can hear. Obviously, there's no fear here.
"A name like that begs for calamity," murmurs Vala as she reads the script on the sign in the distance. "Much like Tipsy's Bar." She shakes her head, swirling layers of her veils moving with her. Others drawn nearer to the doorway of the offensive and offending shop in question receive a curt nod. "Do you suspect there may be some way to enter downstairs? I would hate to think he is entrapped below."
Citarus stops as he gets close to the door seeing others already here. "What happened?" he inquires, as he casts a spell of detect magic, his flaring blue, and fading back to normal. He surveys the area, checking to see if there's anything overwhelmingly magically dangerous inside.
"Or, er. Maybe next week."
While there are many windows displaying the shopfront, the rest of the sizeable building appears windowless and lacking an exterior exit, perhaps to protect the security of the 'workshop' mentioned by the gnome.
Selia tsks mildly. "Yer 'difficulties' be disruptin da neighborhood. Wot's da matter?"
Will your difficulties endanger the surrounding shops?" He says, using his bestest, deepest Cavalierish voice, "It seems like there's quite the blaze."
Selerik finally reaches the site of the hullaboo at his relaxed pace. He glances around, not quite curious enough to make his way inside as others have. "Maybe its.. Supposed to be loud? Nothing seems wrong."
Sonja says, "More like explosions." She then looks towards the gnome and ducks under one of the taller overhangs. "You do realize that those explosions drew not only me towards here, but others as well? We thought a building collapsed!" She almost yells at the gnome, before shaking her head. "Is everyone all right?""
Vala elects not to join the bucket brigade she suggested for water, and calling up a rainstorm falls to some other capable soul. She, on the other hand, listens to the boom that ends up rattling the plentiful hidden gewgaws on her person and beckons more attention. "Is this something you have under control? Your technical difficulties cause alarm outside, and I would hate for there to be a fuss."
But, uhm... I really would feel much better if professionals could take a look just in case?"
Citarus nods at the gnome's words. "What ssshould we be exsspecting inssside? What sssort of machine isss it, and what doesss it do, other than exssplode?"
Carsten glances around, nose wrinkling. "Do I want to know what you blew up? I.." He trails off after people who apparently deal with stuff like this far more frequently than he speak up. He watches the others speak to the gnome, then nods. Uh huh, yep, what she said.
Sonja takes a glance at the gnome before starting her way downstairs. 'Right. Stay up here." She says softly as she ducks under the doorframe.....
In what manner can it be helped?"
Removing a boot from the stirrup, D'Alaron slides off the back of horse, gathering his shield from its harness on the flank, and tilting his head foward to shade his eyes. Securing the steel shield to his arm, he peers into the door, "If nothing else, we should ensure things aren't going to spread." He turns his head towards the small, civily minded cleric, giving a nod, "We're about to see what's what in there, apparently." Turning to Sonja, he calls out, "Be careful, it would do none of us good if the point should be overcome by smoke."
Citarus rips off part of a sleeve off his robe, tying it around his snout, and nostrils. He also wills his nictating membranes close, to make his eyes less likely to be irritated. Taking a deep breath, he walks towards the iron door, saying "I can perhapsss be of sssome sssmall assssisssstancsssse?" looking at Tannin, Vala and Sonja.
Watching on the other side of things, just as a caution, Vala stands at Sonja and tannin's shoulder. "If there are angry being running around in a frenzy, an extra pair of hands to capture them would be welcome."
D'Alaron is about to follow Sonja when he hears what the gnome has to say and pauses, blinking incrediously, "You built a machine that's just... /summoning/ things from another..." Bringing both hands up to his helmet, he unhooks a chinstrap, made to keep the thing on, "Just how angry have you made the poor things?"
Selia trails after, keeping quiet for the moment. At least the tiny dancer doesn't need worry about smoke too much, being below the majority of it. *cough*
Sonja says, "That could be a problem." She says as she descends the stairs, one step at a time. Keeping her Tetsubo out in front of her."
Tannin listens to the gnome, then, as the lizardman gets decisive, and goes toward the door, says, 'Wait!' Sops like she hasn't seen the fellow's kind before, "A little past wrapped cloth and prudence, Lady's hand be with you." And calls back, "Where's that water?"
Carsten doesn't really jostle for position or anything -- there's enough smoky doorway to go around. He does, however, pitch his voice up. "Uh, I'd be happy to go in there after the, uh, you know.." he waves a hand at Sonja. "..after the lady." The lady with the giant club! "Better stuff swings at me, right?" He raps a knuckle against his breastplate.
Citarus nods at Tannin. "My thanksss. Allow me to return the favor?" as he intones a soft spell under his breath, invoking an aura of protection around her. "It'sss not much, but yoursss isss welcome."
Once through the narrow passageway into the workshop, the air quality improves immensely.

Being the first into the dangerous workshop can be, well, dangerous. Sonja has not only the attention of the smoky bird, but of the froglike creature made of mud. Sonja grunts loudly as she's struck by the bird made of lightning. Unfortunately, just about everything she's wearing is metal, so she takes extra damage. She then swings her tetsubo at the bird and misses.
The bird of lightning and smoke only gets angrier when Sonja attempts to strike it. Letting out a sound that seems a mix between the screeching of a hawk and the pulse of thunder, the beast slams into her again and produces another spray of sparks as its natural charge mingles with her armor.
Tannin tumbles crumpled across the floor where she skidded, when the cold serpent attacked, that flare of magely protection, courtesy of the lizard-wizard, spending itself to... Possibly save the small cleric far worse injury. She shakes her head rapidly, with little idea what's actually happening. Meanwhile, Tannin's tampering seems to have had quite the effect on the machine. The gears grind to a halt, and the bulbs start flashing red. Even more smoke pumps out of it, and a rhythmic sound not unlike an alarm can be heard.
There's a moment where the reeling and gasping young paladin presses a hand to his chest; the breathing eases slightly. Sonja presses her palm to her chest again, then says a soft prayer to Daeus.....swinging HARD at the bird....and finally connecting. The sound of the Tetsubo hitting the bird can be heard even by Tannin.
<OOC> Tannin says, "Swift perception check?"
Pecking and flailing, the lightning bird continues to pursue Sonja. It's obviously been quite terribly injured by the paladin's strike, the wispy threads of smoke and cloud barely holding the creature together anymore. Yet this seems to only drive it to pursue further. The arcs of electrical energy flow easily into the metal armor of its victim.
<OOC> Jibbom says, "What are you looking for, Tannin?"

You paged Tannin with 'Oh! Yes. Okay, here's a summary: Tannin is on one side of the room opposite the entrance, with the now-disabled machine.

He calls out to Tannin, "Hurry back! I'm trying to keep it busy with me! Go around, circle behind us!"
Citarus points his finger at the magma person, and fires off another ray of frost. Whether the magic missile sapped his energy, or because he moved, but for some reason his hand twitches... and the ray goes wildly off, striking part of the ceiling. "Dursssat!" he curses.

Carsten says, "Ack!" Carsten yelps in pain and disgust, desperately triyng to keep himself vertical though the beneficient graces of his patron deity. Furrowing his brows, he lunges a bit and extends supine. This time, he actually catches the slurpy monster, skewering it with his blade. "Hah!""

Selerik ceases the rhyme, taking a few moments to consider the people still present before commenting. "I see now why the artificers are so close to the adventurers guild. Does this sort of thing.. Happen often, in this town?"
<OOC> Tannin goes for the 'CHiPs' Ran away and dived just in time' save. :)
Holding onto the table to support his fatigued frame, D'Alaron takes a step back and straightens himself up, before watching the small cleric zip out of the room, turning his head back to the machine, and sighing, limping his way as fast as he can, "She's got a fine point, lads and ladies, to the rear!"
Sonja says, "EVERYBODY OUT! MOVE!" She says pointing towards the entrance.....and even runs for it herself, dragging others if they resist. She especially grabs the gnome if he's around....."
<OOC> Sonja barks the obvious command.
<OOC> Tannin says, "Do it. :)"
Citarus clicks his talons, as he says "It can exsssplode?" as he begins to run out of the room, ready to jump if the thing actually blows up.
Selerik tries to give D'Alaron a hand, helping them out at as quick a pace as their limp will allow. "Splendid time to be someplace else."
The gnome, still mostly covered in soot, is still lingering in the shopfront. "Did you all take care of the... woah!" That last bit comes as he is unexpectedly lifted off his feet and carried away by Sonja.

<OOC> D'Alaron says, "OOC taht!"
"... Dammit. That's going to take weeks to clean up."
With her Tetsubo in one hand and the Gnome in the other, Sonja runs the rest of the way out of the shop and lifts the gnome to look at him in the eyes. 'you're lucky that's all you'll have to clean up, little one. Do youKNOW what was down there? Can you imagine if they got loose in the city?"
Carsten absolutley does not argue. Of course, he also stays at the doorway, making sure other people get out first! "Go on, I'm good, not that hurt! Go on!" Of course, he doesn't argue with giant redheaded women, either. When into the room, he grins. "Wow, that was--" And then boom. He pretty much pauses to cough and sneeze soot and ash in random directions. "Pfft. Peh. Augh. Really?" He eyes the gnome.
<OOC> Carsten sighs, totally didn't hit return.
He looks over to D'Alaron once he is finished, tilting a hand by way of offer.
GAME: Selerik casts Prestidigitation.
Citarus blinks with his eyelids this time. "I guessssss it can exssssplode." He gives a light shrug, and looks at Sonja. "Come now. "Though I musssst compliment you on your acumen."

Accepting the help from Selerik, D'Alaron trys to speed up his pace to not hold the Paladin back, managing to make it out and avoid the explosion handily. Standing up, more steadily now, he looks at the fiery wreck that was a workship, before blinking, and dusting off his cloak, frowning, glancing up to Selerik's offer, "Would you mind terribly? Alexandria's styles simply have not caught up to my homeland."
The gnome pouts as he surveys the damage. "Broken glass, burn counters, seared door... well, at least it looks like it wasn't hot enough to melt metal. So most of this will be salvageable." He looks over at Citarus, thinking for a moment before he sighs heavily. "I suppose you're right. I think I'm going to give up on the Automated Specialized Conjurational Engine. A pity. It had such promise... but it's far too dangerous. I won't be able to afford another incident like this. I'll probably need all my savings just to get the place fixed up... and for your reward, of course. I suppose it could've been worse."
Sonja says, "I'll tell you what, little one. Conduct safer experiments in the future and, if at all possible, inform someone, like the adventurer's guild BEFORE you conduct your experiments? For all you know, you might get some help." She then puts the gnome down. "Hopefully, this can be avoided next time...""
Citarus says "Well, it could've been worssssse. You could've ssssummoned elder elementalsssss, rather than para onessss." He turns to the others, as he takes the strip of cloth from his snout. "Issss everyone all right? That wasss quite harrowing."
The gnome scowls a bit at being called 'little one', dusting more soot from his clothing once he's set down. "It's Fizzlefuse, if you please. Professor Fizzlefuse." He once again glumly surveys his store, sighing heavily. "Believe me, miss, I will be in no hurry to conduct another experiment such as this any time shortly. What a disaster."
Tannin gets up, a bit later, bating the sus of her vestments away, as best she can. Tries to resume some posture of cergy-limke dignity. Straightens. Looks at the building. Then the gnome. looks about to say something. Doesn't. Repeats the process more briefly. Breathes deeply. Closes her eyes and does it again. Loooks towards Citarus, nods. "He's right. Is anyone hurt?"
Selerik gives D'Alaron assistance with his cloak, lifting it up and carefully sweeping away the evidence of the encounter with a bit of magic. "Quite valiant, going in there like that. Myself, I would've barricaded the door and poured water down the chimney until the noise stopped. Still, valiant." He clears his throat a bit. "I should be going." He bows towards the gnome. "Terribly sorry about your shop. Things are not learned without risks being taken, of course." A step back, a nod to the others, and he is wandering off down the street.
Nothing if not exuberant in the face of almost getting squashed, Carsten grins at the other adventurers. "Whew! We made it! And, uhm, pretty much alive." He gives a rousing lift of the hand to the others assembled. "And intact, looks like. Mostly." He nods to the dragonman and to the priestess. "Uhm, I'm good, I'll be okay. Anyone else?"
Sonja says, "I'll be fine as well." She says putting the Tetsubo on her shoulder. She then looks to Tannin. "Once again, we saved the day....." She says with a chuckle."
Accepting his cloak with a nod of thanks, Alaron spins it on, again, attaching the stylish cloak in the askew over the shoulder position, before macking up to the gnome with the rest, "I'm a little chilled, but I should be fine after a hot bath. And a good night's sleep. My head is still ringing." He says, removing the chinstrap from his helmet, before removing the helmet itself, frowning at a dent, "Curse-ed uncivilized things."
Citarus glances at the sky. "Blassst. I mussst be off. I am already late for ssssomething." He gives a slight bow to the others. "A ssssincsssere pleassssure working together. Farewell."
Tannin smils to Sonja, a little bit cannily, and, for the first time she's had the chance, looks everyone over. To meet them, if nothing else. "Well, if I misss not my guess, they came from elemental places, and even their civilized beings.. Would find our humble abode..... Frightening A best."

Tannin looks up then, to Sonja. "Mercy, sister, isn't just about someone else. It's a gift of the Queen we give to the world, and ourselves. Or else what would we be?" She straightens again.
"Elementals are dumb as bricks. Especially the ones made from bricks." Fizzlefuse calls out as he goes behind the counter after receiving Tannin's blessing. "They understand some basic phrases in the languages of their respective planes, but they're far less intelligent than even the dumbest ogres. When one goes berserk, negotiation is all but impossible. No way they could've communicated, each plane has a seperate language of its own." After a moment, he returns with more soot on him and a heavy coin purse in his hands. "Here. I hope it's reward enough. Thank you all for at least ensuring they didn't damage more than my store."
<OOC> Jibbom says, "Thank you all for playing. I hope you had fun, despite how difficult the start of the encounter was."
<OOC> D'Alaron says, "We made it!"
<OOC> Sonja says, "at least you didn't have whirl's dice."
<OOC> Tannin says, "Not bad, specially for a Momnday rush hours. :)"
<OOC> Tannin says, "Also, we seem to have survived the dice, yes. :)"
<OOC> Sonja says, "hehe"
<OOC> Carsten grins.
<OOC> Tannin trioes to meet everyone briefly before bed. Have to try to be somewhere early omorrow. :)
"I have the honor of a upright free-lance. Mercy must be shown to defeated enemies, else we are nothing but rabid monsters in the throes of some horrible wage." D'Alaron says, straightening his chest and nodding to Tannin, "In the maiden's wars, mercy is not optional, in this we agree."
Tannin nods to Alaron. "I'm no expert in these things, but the gnomish man, I think, knows whereof he speaks. It was a bit of mercy that your efforts allowed me to try, but, I do not think they were ever sensate to what we did. Or they. " She looks suspiciously toward the laboratory, and adds, "pausing for thoughts. "What it would have done to them if the thing had worked *properly.* I don't know." She looks up at a passing airship. "It might be as well to find out."
"Hmm. Well, I suppose it depends on how intelligent they are. My horse might've been smarter then them, and he seems content as a beast of burden." D'Alaron says, frowning, "Its a little complex for a simple soldier, in any case."
