Aryia instead talks about Violet, who she has gotten together with, and how much she likes them. Vaera offers advice and more if wished, to both Venom and Aryia, before asking if she could see Violet sometime, which Aryia wishes to see about doing before she departs for training. This leaves the two to discuss the process of working on the weapon, and the slaves freed. She offers to help with any woodworking needs, but Venom is alright for such matters. The air of solemn, heavy divinity in the area is often broken by
laughter. The dual presence of the deities Althea and Daeus, man and wife,
stand towards the center, with their children and their children's temples
positioned around them. The presence of the divine is felt not only by their
temples, but also by the actions of their worshipers. The great plaza is as a
social center, paved in brilliant, white flagstones and covered in benches and
sitting areas. Priests, acolytes, and servicefolk of all stripes roam the
plaza, going from one task to the other.

At the front of the temples of Daeus and Althea, at the Plaza's
centermost point, rests a great fountain, the cheerful waters reflecting the
Sun during the day, and the Moon and Stars at night. The fountain is
strategically centered, and is oft a place for wisdom and lesson-giving. It is
not uncommon for a priest of some stripe or the other to stand there,
surrounded by the curious and faithful, delivering messages of hope or
contemplation. At other times, it and the plaza become a landscape of
celebration of the holy holidays.

Few vendors are seen in the plaza--the nearby temples provide most
food or services. Towards the west, the great Bridge stretches across the
river, and towards the east, the Redridge mountains. The plaza rests in the
midst of it all, the temples massive and grand on the Alexandrian scale.

Alexandrian Temple district, late afternoon.

There was a chill wind to the air now, summer gone for good most likely, bringing more of the crisp air and all the bounty of the land from all manner of sources. This day, with only a few clouds left drifting lazily through the air. Beneath one of the trees away from the main plaza where small gardens were set up, a red scaled makari was set up, with a large blanket set down. All around her were various parts, blocks of wood, metal gears and plates, all in various states of work. And in her hands was a journal, which she seemed to be sketching quickly into, occasionally stopping to pick up one of the pieces of wood, before setting it down just as quickly.

With the air growing more cool, a slight attire change was necessary. A scarred mul'neissa in silver shades with a heavy grey cloak is leaving the temple of Althea, finished with getting her burns treated. They begin to make their way back towards a southern route. But the odd shade of red under a tree gets her attention.

She turns, and makes her way over. Aryia announces her presence with a light whistle, and raises a hand in greeting. She tilts her head to the side, looking at whatever the redscale was up to.

Venom, for her part, is moving trough the district with the usual pursuance of expediance over devotion. The enigma, while never particularly disparaging the divine works, has certainly never volunteered anything resembling any particular denomination of her own.

Not out loud, in any case.

As it is, she moves with a lighter step, though she does keep her head pivoting here and there to keep an eye on what's about. It isn't long before she notes the uncommon red scales of her fellow gun enthusiast, particularly as it rapidly becomes apparant that her fellow silent operator is moving to join her, and so her course alters as well.

Vaera looks over to where Aryia was. She had not needed the whistle, having seen out of the corner of her eye, but it was only at the noise that she turned her attention, offering a sharp toothed smile.

"Greetings, Aryia. I hope that the day finds you well. If you are curious what I am working on in some degree, it is the beginnings of a new firearm. Taking some peace as a result."

She looks to the other mute woman, and dips her head with the smile remaining. "And Venom as well, did you both come together on a walk? I was meaning to show you my progress, but, I have been stumped. Well, more than usual, artistically that is."

She taps a claw against the wooden leg to accentuate this joke.

Aryia stops just shy of joining Vaera under the tree as she's addressed, her hand vanishing under her cloak as she looks about the materials strewn about. She gives a little nod, taking a moment for her hand to warm before it pops out to say, "Rather well. All my burns are healed, thankfully. Maybe you could run what you have by Ve-"

She turns, straightens up a bit at the sight of the veiled figure, and her cheeks dust a slight crimson. Must be in the chill in the air. She smiles warmly, and raises a hand in greeting, in the form of a snapping a finger and a finger gun pointing at her.

There is a faint snerk at the joke. <Handspeech>

Must be the chiill, indeed.

The veiled one continues her poised approach of the two companions, her gloved hands coming together to signal her greetings, "I'm glad to see you, both." She turns her attention to Aryia, cocking her head a touch with a single, "Burns?"

the angle of her head shifts slightly, that she is clearly encompassing both women in her field of view, then starts to sign further, "Sometimes the finer details turn gunsmithing into a bit of a slog. What seems to be the problem?" <handspeech>

"You can tell her if you wish, Aryia, but it would be best to be honest, I think. I heard what happened from various people." Vaera replies to the two, focusing more on the mul'niessa for the moment. "I was hoping to, but the problem is artistic, as I said."

She lifts up one of the pieces of wood, evidently shaped into what was soon to become a single handed grip. "Parts extend into the handle of this one for added stability despite the decrease in size." She explains, more to Venom now. "I was able to shrink down most of the mechanisms, and feel confident it will be functional. But, I am at a loss what to add to the carvings for the grip."

There is a light chuff. "It would not feel right, otherwise. Making one happier to use it."

Aryia gives Venom a look from over her shades, taking a bit too long to answer the question, but slowly was picking up was the enigma was putting down. She gives a touch of a proud smirk. "Me and some others went to Charn to free some slaves. We got a bunch out, even as the demon that was there tried to kill everyone with an acid cloud. I got burned a bit, but I'm okay."

She turns to Vaera. "I hope Mictlan isn't overwhelmed now, we brought back a lot of sith-makar."

The mute elf kneels down to get a better look at the weapon, she tilts her head. "I don't know. Why not match what your leg has?" her hand suggests before vanishing back into her cloak. There's some shifting underneath before a pair of gloves peek out now.<Handspeech>

Venom's weapons have a certain macabre elegance to their design, so, perhaps her advice isn't the best on this score, but, her poncho rises and falls with what is likely a shrug, and she signs, "A virtue? A totem? A creed?" as her offering on that count.

Her hands pause a moment, and she adds, "I have seen a headsman's sword once, the blade was etched with the phrase: Strike in the Law bringer's name, ye not guilty."

Her head pivots ever so faintly as Aryia begins her signing and she is still for the duration.

A beat passes.

Then, she begins to answer, "I'm glad you were successful, and that the damage was not too extreme.

As Aryia kneels, the veiled one steps up to be closer to hand and looks down at the weapon and the indicated leg as one. <handspeech>

A beat passes.

Then, she begins to answer, "I'm glad you were successful, and that the damage was not too extreme."

As Aryia kneels, the veiled one steps up to be closer to hand and looks down at the weapon and the indicated leg as one. <handspeech>

"Something like my leg? Perhaps that could be done, like the flowers upon it." Vaera muses, looking at the wooden grip. The rest of the parts were in various stages assemblies, clusters of gears and loose parts that were all still laid out in a discernible pattern. Aryia could see a larger group of parts, which Venom would recognize as the start of the same mechanism of the larger firearm. "Perhaps a broken chain, that might be fitting for a firearm such as this."

"I am glad you are alright as well. Mictlan is managing, it is not the first influx of those in need they have dealt with, and there is always food to spare. This one has been busy building shelters for the newcomers, as have many others. Caring for the young ones as well, some of them seem to have gotten the worst of it, but they are recovering."

There is an edge to her voice here, and her tail flicks agitatedly a few times. "It is good the scum perpetrating it paid."

The leg in question was metal at the joints, but the wood was expertly carved. Scales were made into it, and many were actually small jungle flowers in places, with many draconic runes carved into other spots. And curiously around the top band, were what appeared to be fish with dragon wings mid flight?

All of the bits and baubles made zero since to Aryia, she just knew they went in firearms. And that was the extent of it. She smiles a bit more, "I'm glad I got out okay as well."

She looks to the redscale her giving a nod. "That's good. I'm glad they're doing alright after we got them out."

Though, her face does darken for a moment at Vaera's comment. She clenches her fist, and gives a hint of a ire-filled smile. Despite how nice Aryia is, it's a time like this where one remembers that she is, still, a mul'neissa. "I'll gladly do it again," she motions slowly. "They deserve no less."

Abating from her intensity, she idly inspects the leg, an impressed look crossing her features. <Handspeech>

Venom nods, clapping her hands softly together twice, then as they part the fina tie, she starts to sign, "That could work, too. It would be definately mark it as yours."

There are little angle changes an pivots, perhaps the enigma is taking stock of the pieces laid out, and she lifts her chin to not at Vaera, "Solid looking work, well done."

Her attention turns toward Aryia, then as her hands start to fly, taking in her words and expression with what looks like a tacit indifference.

A beath or two...

"There is no shortage of those sort of targets." <handspeech>

"Mul'niessa have sensitive skin, to both light, and burns at times. It is good you are alright." She agrees, reaching into her jacket, and pulling out a few pouches that she offers to Aryia. "If there are any spots that are still bad, mix these two herbs together, and steep them in boiling water for five minutes. then bind them against the area with a bandage for several hours. Perhaps Venom could help with that?"

At the comments, she nods, and looks back to her work. "I fault you not for that, I would do the same. That none of the young ones died, is a blessing not always given."

She shakes her head, and looks to Venom and smiles. "It meets your standards? That is praise indeed. It has been hard work, but after spending many days reading what books I could, I have a decent enough grasp of the Kulthian language for the work. It is, very precise, and I would not have managed guessing."

Aryia nods in agreement with Venom, it was good work. And the idea of such iconography was one she could get behind. She regard's Venom's comment with a hint of a... sinister smile. "Oh I am very, very well aware. And look forward to meeting such people again with my fist."

The elf turns to the redscale her tilting her head to the side. She blinks behind her shades as her face dusts with more rubor. She reaches out for the pouches, but ends up pushing them back. She coughs into her glove. "Uh... I-I'm good now, the temples sorted me out. I'm pretty sure they didn't miss any spots." She glances to Venom.

Shakes her head, then comments with a few flicks of her hands. "Oh, you learned that language? Nice. I can't wrap my head around it. I'm terrible with numbers." <Handspeech>

"I have a little experience with poultrices." Venom replies with slow gestures, then, of the compliment, she cocks her head.

Perhaps derailed a moment, she then nods after a couple of moments, then signs, "I can tell you've been meticulous over this. Are you confident in your inscriptions?"

Her head angles toward Aryia once more as her hands start to sign, "There is a certain satisfaction in the impact." <handspeech>

Vaera nods, and returns the pouches to her jacket. "Very well, it is not as good as magical healing. Yes, I have been working at it for some time. And yes, I have been checking the inscriptions over. This one bought several tools to do such, and make sure they are the right shape and size. Though there is little written documentation on sildanyari-kulthian integration, so some of the notes had to be made by hand."" She explains while taking a few more of the gears, setting them into place in the assembly with a pair of tweezers, a drop of oil, and a check of the movement.

"Turns out by not accommodating for the collapsing nature, the mechanism is much simpler, as it can remain in its extended state all the time. Which cuts out most of the space in question dedicated to that.

"How have you two been? She asks, with one brow raised to the mul'niessa.

Aryia watches the gestures from Venom for a moment, her forcing her features to remain neutral. Noted.

"Thanks though," she off handedly mentions to Vaera as the pouches were stowed away. She watches the process with a hint of familiarity to it. There wasn't any comment she could make on the advancements that were just platitudes, so she just nods.

The question makes her look over to Venom, visage softening some unknowingly before turning back to Vaera. "I've been okay. Lot of good, lot of bad. Don't feel like talking about the bad," she answers. <Handspeech>

Venom nods, dipping to a crouch to watch the detail work for a moment, then starts to sign, "I'm not surprised. I bet any scholars on language would lose their minds over the very concept."

Aryia's gestures draw her notice again, and she's more obviously watching her by the angle change from her crouch. Once the Mul'niessa has framed her answers, she hesitates in starting a sign, then simply nods.

She looks between them again and answers, "I've been alright. Finished some work on my weapons." <handspeech>

"It is not that odd. After all, the sildanyari in question, they are experts at these things, and it is reflected in their script." Vaera explains, taking a screwdriver to tighten a few areas. "Lots of loaned words, and things like that. It incorporates well."

"We do not need to talk about the bad, yes. Talk about the good."

She sees Aryia being watched, and Aryia watching Venom. "Have you spoken some to Venom, Aryia? It has been some time since I saw you at the baths. I hope you took what was said to heart."

Aryia had nothing to add about about the subject of the language. She only knows one written one, so she didn't get the intricacies of trying to incorporate one of her native tongue's writings into a different language.

She looks to Venom as the enigma watches her, she says nothing about it. But understands.

Though, Vaera's question made Aryia freeze. "Uh...." her hand slowly flutters in front of her, face growing a bit hot in both fluster and embarrassment. Well, let's see how well she threads this needle.

"I... did. And... we... came to an agreement to... be friends. But I... uh... found someone else..." <Handspeech>

GAME: Aryia rolls bluff: (16)+-2: 14

GAME: Vaera rolls sense motive +2: (8)+5+2: 15

Venom shrugs a bit, draping her forearms from her knees as she nods, then begins to sign again, "I'm glad you were able to chase it down."

The question about their conversing gets a cock of her head, but her attention turns to Aryia as she tries to answer the Sith's question.

The redscaled sith-makar blinks, and squints just a moment at Aryia. Then, she chuffs, and nods.

"I am sorry to hear that, I thought you both liked each other." She says. "But, I am still glad you found someone, this is good to hear."

"Would it be in good taste for me to ask you more about them? What are they like?"

Aryia blinks as well. She knew Vaera sniffed out her bluff. And she knew that Vaera knew that she knew. A tinge of sweat collects at her brow despite the chill in the air. "It happens," she gestures with half-hearted signs. But the question afterwards wipes most of her trepidation away.

"Oh! That's fine! Her name is V-I-O-L-E-T. And she's really smart and is really kind," she all but gushes, smiling warmly as she explains. <Handspeech>

The veiled figure signs, "Is friendship not considered liking someone in these parts?" her head canting.

Her attention turns back to Aryia as she starts to elaborate on her new someone, then Vaera. <handspeech>

"They sound wonderful. You are kind, and having things in common always helps things along." The redscale smiles, then turns to Venom "Apologies, that is not what I meant by liking. I may have misread. But to you as well, I am glad you are both still friends."

"This one is no softskin, but if you ever need any advice Venom, this one will share what they can. And the same still goes for you, Aryia." She offers, checking the fit of the mechanism once into the metal housing.

Aryia glances to Venom, her rubbing her arm. "Yes, what Vaera said. It can be. But I like you as a friend. But I like, and am fond of, Violet. Um... maybe I'm explaining it badly... I like Vaera. And Seyardu. And you. You're friends. But I'm a lot closer to Violet. They'd be..."

She puts her chin in her hand. "... I... actually don't know what we are." She steals a glance at the enigma of a woman before returning her attention to Vaera. "Yes, of course. Thank you." <Handspeech>

Venom bows her head and lays her hand over her chest at the offer. It holds there for a few moments, then she looks up once more. It's as the conversations proceed, she signs in a slow, "Thank you. Such things are difficult."

There's a look to Aryia, then, "Give it time and see."

That seems like reasonable enough advice for the moment. <handspeech>

"There is, a fondness beyond normal friendships, yes." Vaera notes, setting down her tools for a moment. "I have experienced such before."

She looks between the two, and squints again for a moment, before smiling. "I would say, you are both good friends. Some friends are closer than others, and with that, comes a certain level of trust and care. That seems apt."

"Though, that being said? Venom's suggestion is good as well. Give things time to see where things land between you."

Aryia pauses to read the advice that Venom gives freely. She takes it, processes it, and then her face relaxes. "... yes. Probably for the best to just let it be and see where it goes."

She nods at Vaera, her glancing to Venom before giving a soft smile and reaching out to nudge the veiled woman with a knuckle to the arm. <Handspeech>

Venom rocks a little on the balls of her feet with the nudge, then reaches up to return the favor before rising to her full height.

"It's true. Some are." is all she can really contribute to that conversation. Instead, she reaches out to gently bump knuckles against Vaera's arm, then, "It's a good thing." <handspeech>

Watching the others shifting, the red makari smiles. She reaches out to return the bump to Venom's arm, and one to Aryia's as well.

"It is a good thing." She agrees, settling back down into seat. "I would like to meet, Violet? Sometime. After all, if you are my friend as you say, then I would like to make sure they are truly as kind as you say, as well. Though, I understand if you would rather not."

Hersryia gives a light smile as nudges go all around. Though, she rubs her neck at the request. "I uh...-" she resists the temptation to glance to the veiled figure. "I can see if they want to. I would like for her to meet some of my friends. But sometimes it's a bit difficult to get things organized as of late. Depends if she wants to or not." <Handspeech>

Venom folds her hands and looks between the two as it seems Violet is the topic du joir once again. There's a look between the two, then and she waits until all the signing's done before she chimes in, "I wouldn't know what to suggest." <handspeech>

"Well, organizing is hard, but if it's something you truly wish to do, it is worth the effort, is it not?" Vaera chuffs. "Working on this has been difficult, but I have steadily made progress."

She gestures to the parts and pieces, and looks to Venom with a nod. "That is alright, it is something to discuss between them. Though your input is important, as well."

Aryia gives a final nod before making a grunting noise as she gets to her feet. "Very fair. As is most things, some are worth the effort." She stretches out her back, rolling her neck around before reaching forward to pat the two women on the shoulder. Hands pull away to motion, "It was good seeing you two. And you, Vaera. Good luck with your gun. I need to get back to training."

With that, she pulls her grey cloak closer to herself, gives a soft smile two both with a lingering gaze on Venom before heading out with a relaxed gait. <Handspeech>

Aryia has left.

Venom nods, her attention returning to the gun as it's indicated, and she returns in a slow string of gestures, "I look forward to seeing it in action, sometime."

The veiled woman turns to Aryia as she rises and makes her departure to leave. She gently claps the Mul'niessa on the shoulder and nods, signing, "Take care, and we'll see you soon."

As the elf makes her way off to resume her training, Venom watches for a few steps, then turns back toward Vaera, "You've come far. A lot more comfortable with the tech." <handspeech>

"And I look forward to showing you. Assuming it does not explode in my face. But it should not." The redscale chuffs. She waves the mul'niessa away. "Good to see you as well, Aryia. See you around soon, I will look forward to that."

"Turning back to the veiled woman, she nods. "I had help, I learned much from seeing you disassembling it so thoroughly and confidently. Not to mention all the books available here."

"This city, it has been quite nice. As has Mictlan. It is good Aryia rescued all those from Charn. They will have a better life returning from there than I did."

Venom nods, looking once more to the weapon, "Use a string to pull the trigger if you have doubts." she signs, first, "I agree that it shouldn't, though."

She lifts her veiled face toward the redscale once more and nods, "I'm glad I could show you the way."

The musing about Mictlan, seems to give her pause, as she doesn't immediately respond, though there are tiny adjustments to the set of her head that indicate that she's probably puzzling her way through it for a few moments before she finally answers, "Any life is better once the chains are off." <handspeech>

"An indirect firing, I will keep that in mind. That is a good idea." Vaera nods, reaching to bump Venom on the arm once more. "I am glad I was willing to ask for your assistance that day. It seems my instinct was correct about your character. I know many would immediately wary about one as covered as you."

She muses on the final comment, and chuffs. "This is true, no one deserves to be enslaved. To be free to act and live is good. But I suppose what I mean to say, is that I am glad they come out of that place, with less scars on the body and mind than someone such as myself or Aryia. Those children, I believe they will still get to have good years growing up."

Venom nods, "I think you're right." she elaborates, to an extent, but, perhaps to both counts rather than seperately.

She gives things a moment or two to percolate, then, "Have you decided what you'll do with the stock?" <handspeech>

Vaera is content to let the silence settle, and she uses the moment to readjust the position of a pipe in the mechanism. "For the stock? I think, I would like to do something natural. Vines and flowers. A bit simple, but, I have always liked them. A sign of new growth, and moving forward."

She thumps her tail once. "It finally feels like I am no longer living in the past, so that is apt. And if you ever need anything done with wood for your weapons, let me know."

Vaera takes her journal again, and starts sketching out a few ideas. "Do you have any more plans for your own weapons, Venom?" She asks, raising the book up so she could keep watching the hand movements.

Venom nods twice and claps her hands together as Vaera states her intention. It's an interesting choice considering the nature of the weapon, certainly worth further contemplation.

She almost misses the offer as she follows that rabbit, but as she catches up with what's being said, she makes a tiny wave, then goes into more complex gestures, "Thank you, but I have my furniture how I like it for now. You do seem settled than before."

Her arms fold a moment as Vaera starts to lay out more design work, but she doesn't offer an unsolicited advice, as she's put together that some people get tetchy when provided with aid they didn't ask for. They slacken, and her hands cycle through her train of gestures agin with the redscale's question, "As yet, no, I need to see how the new parts" and new gun, "operate in the field, first." <handspeech>

"Your, furniture? Ah, fair enough. I am trying to be, if I need to spend any length of time here." The redscale nods, stretching out some. Even sitting down, she was still quite tall. "You have new parts to test? Best not to in that case. But perhaps we could both show. As I still have not see you actually fire your thunderbelcher. To be honest, it still feels like I know little about you, aside from your character. Which is enough, to be fair."

She seems to think for a moment before she chuffs. "It should not be long until I finish putting it together. And then, I can start working on a new leg. I have been hoping to do so for some time, and I learned much already. But, I should make sure I have not messed up here, first."

Venom nods, explaining, "The woodwork. It's what those who taught me called it." before shrugging.

She reaches behind her back for the Thunderbelcher, the body panels repolished, and newly engraved. The narrow panels of wood along the foregrip, and much of the gripping surface of the grip section of the stock are aggressively checkered and perhaps fire hardened before being sealed in the dark chestnut stain. She twists it open with some subtle brush of her thumb against a control lever, and reaches in to pull the polished steel cyllinder from the chamber before closing it again to allow Vaera a chance to feel it out.

"Well, I guess it makes sense. I was confused as, well, I have made plenty of furniture in the past. So if you ever need a new chair or bed frame, I could make something up." Vaera offers with another thump of her tail. "I am not even out of practice any more, with all the building in Mictlan."

Vaera takes a look at the weapon and nods, one hand checking the wood, and the metal. "Did a good job with the whole process, as I expected. Mechanism moves easily, and feels sturdy. Reliable. Not like you're fighting against the thing you're working on."

She glances back to her own weapon, and all the parts laid out. "But it is what it is. Give it enough time, and I'll be able to work well with what I have."

There is a little huff that ruffles the veils at that, and a little nod before she signs, "I appreciate the offer, but they are hard to carry with you."

She cocks her head as Mictlan comes up and, after a moment, the veiled woman nods, "I'm sure you did quite well, too."

The appraisal of her own work prompts a little bow, flicking a quick, "Thank you." gesture before reaching out to reclaim the weapon, while her other hand signs, "Everyone starts, somewhere. You had a good foundation already, the extra details should click into place reasonably quickly." <handspeech>

"I suppose you aren't the sort to settle down in one place then." Vaera notes as she hands the weapon back with a nod. "That is fair, everyone has a way which to live their lives."

"It was a foundation out of necessity, but a foundation nonetheless. I am sure things will beckme easier. As I hope they do for you in other matters."

Venom shakes her head slightly before her poncho does the rise-fall thing, "Not so far." she concedes, before her hands busy themselves with returning her weapon to it's place.

Squared away once more, her head cocks and, "Other matters?" <handspeech>

"Other matters, yes. Such as dealings with Aryia." Vaera notes. The redscale tilts her head just slightly to the side. "Aryia is not the sort who would immediately move on to a new relationship easily." Is all she says, picking up some more parts to fit into her work afterwards. <handspeech>

Venom's next gestures take a moment to parse, and cycle slowly, "Her relationships don't need fear."

That said, the enigma turns slightly on her heel, hands frozen between gestures before, with equal care, signs out a short, "I'm poison." before completing the rotation, and her footfalls start to carry her down the thoroughfare with a single, short wave. <handspeech>

"You are not." Vaera chuffs with a shake of her head. "It is a trade of one fear for another, even if smaller. It is fair to be concerned about matters however, and I simply wish you will find a solution."

She waves back. "Farewell, Venom. I hope to see you around another time."
